A good all-around 1/2 oz Jig Rod
I recommend looking at the St.Croix line of Avids.. AVC70MHF 7', MHF, Line: 12 - 20, Lure: 3/8 - 1oz, Rod weight: 4.7oz, MSRP $180 AVC70HF 7', HF, Line: 14 - 25, Lure: 3/8 - 11/2oz, Rod Weight: 5.0oz, MSRP $190 As a rod builder I have built my jig rods on these blanks... If those are to steep budget wise then I would suggest looking into the MOJO's... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!

bass pro reel handles
He is right.. I think that you will most likely be able to get the rachet plate and spring for free, but not a new handle assy. According to my schematics you will need the following parts... TE1170PT: UX318-02 Handle Assy. UX032-01 Handle Washer. UX054-01 Rachet. UX040-01 Handle Rachet Spring. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!!

Yahoo mail users question
I have 5 accounts.... Set it as spam, I have been getting a few and set them so I don't see them anymore, accounts are still working. If they (Yahoo) had the same spoof mail setup that PayPal does, they would be able to find out who is sending the phishing attempt e-mails. But hay unless your paying the yearly fee they are selling your account addresses and info anyway... Tight Lines!!!!

Simple Rod Storage Question
As a rod builder I wouldn't store my rods in any vehicle, and I don't care how often they are used. Cars/trucks get hot, and the insides get even hotter. The description of your rod tips being long enough to bend at the roof isn't good. The roof gets hot, the inside of the cap gets hot. Graphite starts to get soft around 300°F. So the inside of your car gets to 105° or above in the summer, I can almost guarantee a slight bend sets in the tips upper 1/3rd action of the rods. If your not on an outing to the local waters, store your rods in a cool place and vertically without reels mounted.. Just an old builders .02¢ Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!

What model number Tour PT do you have????? I almost replied that your AIR wasn't working (just from your description). But the small dimples on the black plate that holds the handles from cranking backwards and off of the shaft can and do wear out. You should have your reels schematic in the box, call (heck I have had 3 days in a row that they don't even answer the phone) but not e-mail (I wouldn't e-mail they almost never answer), then give them the part number for the handle assy, rachet plate, even the rachet spring and, get all of them replaced.... Does My Rod Work Right For My Reel? What Is This Set Up Good For?
Am also bank bound..... When you say everything from frogs, to crawdads do you mean the king size live dads that are in the creaks on the apartment complex' in San Deigo or plastic imitations? rat-l traps, large spinnners.. yes on large (within rods lure ratings) spinners. No on traps rod is to short, and tip to stiff... IMO plastic worms: yes I will need to cast far: That will depend on your total setup (Rod, Reel setup, Line, Lure) and your abilities. I have my Greenie Curado 201's on a couple of 6'6" MHF customs and use them for up close t-rigs or jigs.. Tight Lines!!!!

Quantum Code baitcast reel
Sounds like you already purchased the reel... That will depend on the rod, line, lure, and your casting abilities....There are only 2 bearings at most in the reel that control casting ability. The rest help smooth cranking out...... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

poor casting distance
Most of the Ugly med hvy spinning rods in 6' to 6'6" I have seen, run line ratings of 10 - 15 lb test and lure ratings of 1/4 - 3/4oz. Question, are you trying to cast lighter than 1/4oz on 14 lb test? If so, an't going to happen you will need a rod that loads easier than a medium heavy more like a medium - medium light and scale down the line... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Gimmick?
Gimmick, can't say. ... But being the company is New Zealand & Australian based. The reel has a moveable part in the most vulnerable of places on a spinning reel, when it fails your going to send it for warranty work or even service to New Zealand? Wonder what that turn around would be..... I would stick to US market reels..... Tight Lines!!!

What a frustrating day!!!
Just a little hint here for you... Don't Ever Open A Reel Without Having The Schematic In Front Of You.. I have 24 years at this, even when I get in a hurry just laying the parts in a assembly sequence can sometimes fail to get the right orientation. That's why the manufacturer supplies the schematic..."Visual Reference" Just my .02¢.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
