  1. Matter of personal opinion... Not necessarily so. Warranties are honored in Japan, Customer support is also in Japan, your not necessarily on your own, there is a service tech in the USA that does JDM work, and any JDM can be sent to the home country for service. It just takes forever to get them back... For US JDM service ...

  7. It is considered a basket case...If you got the reel in pieces there is a real good probability that all the parts are not there. The link in my signature line will take you to the discount service form with all the charge info there. Depending on the model of Citica, and production date will dictate whether or not parts are available for it....... Tight Lines!!!!
  8. I agree with RW and flechero about the rod (No matter the brand), it should be Med Fast to Extra Fast... As far as how it feels and balances you could try to find the rod and reel in a local tackle shop and mount the reel to the rod and feel for yourself how it is in YOUR hands. If not everyone feels the balance of a system differently.... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!

  10. 30 years of baitcasting... Either system for me..... The way I set my reels there are no problems with either systems, and all are setup prior to hitting the water.. Tight Lines All!!

  12. Hey Dink.. I said it before contact some rod builders in Florida (check the yellow pages or do a Google search) and ask them what they would recommend for use in your area waters. I know your not getting the info that your looking for in rods for your waters. If you do that then you will best understand what the rod needs.. Again for your area waters......... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  13. If the handle on the JM reel isn't what was wanted, then why purchase the reel....... Sorry I only work with Shimano, Daiwa, Garcia, & Quantum... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  14. Thanks guys for the kind words... We do take pride in the way our reels turn out. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

  18. Like Raul, I have a few of the old V-mags. Fun reels in their day (because we didn't know any better), but have been long time retired now. Ryobi stopped producing fishing gear back in the 90's. You can still find some that are in decent shape on the net, but you will find no support for them anywhere... Tight Lines!!!

  20. If a tech told you it was built on an Avid Mandrel, then he did his job and got you to buy.. The Mojo isn't built with the Avid Mandrel or with the IPC technology... They are nowhere near the Legend Tourney or the Avids...... The rods are produced with the SC2 graphite, Batson Forecast hard aluminum-oxide guides.. Just talked with St.Croix this week ordering some Avid UL spinning blanks to build up... St.Croix is even hurrying the construction of the plant in Mexico to help with the demand for the Mojo.. Remember the "Made In North America" decal, well that's why... Good rod anyway you look at it for now (well see what they are like when the country of origin changes), if it is what you can afford and feels good in your hands, then buy...... Just the rantings of a old rod builder that uses St.Croix blanks exclusively.. Tight Lines!!!
  21. T9, Ok, to each his/her own..... The thread question asked was "Drag, how to set correctly".. What you replied with, is not what any service tech worth his salt going to agree with and is not correct ... You do what you like.......
  22. That is some of the worst information I have seen posted in awhile.. There are no direct drive reels, the drags are there for a reason and anyone that would follow that info would deserve to have the one-way bearing in their reels fail big time while fighting a PB, and they do.. "Never Crank The Drags Down With A Wrench" I have seen first hand what can happen...

  24. Chronarch 101B SV * A-RB (Anti-Rust Bearings) * Lo-Mass Drilled Spool System (on CH100BPV, CH101BPV, CH100B and CH101B only) * High Efficiency Gearing (HEG) * Dartainium Drag * A7075 Aluminum Spool (100B, 101B, 100BPV, 101BSV only) * A6063 Aluminum Spool (100BSV & 101BSV only) * Septon Handle Grips * Assist Stopper * Super Stopper * Super Free (SF) * Clicking Drag Adjustment * PV Power Paddles (BPV models only) * SV Power Paddles (BSV models only) * Ion Plated Finish * Recessed Reel Foot * Escape Hatch * Variable Brake System (VBS) * Cold Forged Handle Shank * Reduced Mass VBS hub * Aluminum Frame and Sideplates Whats not to like.....Except the 6.2:1 for cranking might be a little fast, and the weight 9.5oz...The drags aren't as hefty as the (PV) Power version... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!
  25. I would say not so much a lighter powered rod, but softer rod tip action. Plus back the drags off on the reel, and feather the spool for more drag pressure when needed... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!
