  5. I agree the blank doesn't know what it will be. But I do!.. I personally will only build a BC rod on a Casting blank, and same with a Spinning blank (mainly because of tapers). Just my .02¢ Tight Lines!!!
  6. This has been discussed many times here. For more info use the search function and a search term of "IM Rod Ratings" in all post..... 9. mrlitetackle, Have to agree 100% with ya. One good bass on an UL system and your hooked for sure. We built 5 Avid UL blanks (2-5'6", 2-7', 1-7'6") up this winter, using the Bass Pro Shops® TinyLite reels on the short rods, and, the Bass Pro Shops® Micro Lite Elite reels on the longer rods for some fun during the dog days of summer this season, and so far haven't been disappointed.. Tight UL Lines!!!
  10. If you have never taken one down and analyzed the issues then don't start now. But if you must break into the reel make sure you have the schematic for the reel in front of you. Then to open the reel: 1. Remove the spool, by loosening the thumbscrew above the drag star, and turn the palming plate down and remove the plate and spool. 2. Carefully remove the 2 screws you see next to the pinion gear (don't lose them) 3. Now remove the crank assembly all the way down to and including the drag star and drag spring washers. 4. Remove the 2 outside screws and lift the crank side plate carefully so that you don't lose any parts that might be lose under that side plate. Now you have access to the whole cranking assembly, hope you know what your looking for. Also hope you can remember how it all goes back together when your done rooting around in the reel. When all else fails put it back together and send it off to Pure Fishing for warranty work (which in mpo you should have done in the first place) Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!
  11. Yea, I would use Birchwood Casey® Reel Scrubber Solvent/Degreaser... http://www.***/shopping/shop/store/reel-repair-supplies02.html The key is making sure your using a quality reel grease, and applying it to the key places needed to be greased right to repel the saltwater..... Just .02¢ Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  12. A rain storm isn't going to hurt any reel, unless your driving down dirt roads with the reels on the deck. Just let them dry out a little, on a normal fishing day there is water inside the reel just from wet line.... Tight Lines!!!!

  16. It's not the balance causing the pain....Willing to bet it is the POWER HUMP that is causing the pain. Before I started building my own rods, I had an old 90's power hump and it caused the same pain your describing..... Take the rod back and get a straight grip rod, or modify the grip on the rod you have and get rid of the hump.... Good Luck & Tight Lines Without Pain!!!!!

  19. From looking at the pic, and the schematic's if there is a screw there for that cover, you will have to probably remove the logo to find it. Don't know why your worrying about a ul reel, the bails aren't that strong to begin with and Garcia® uses a perma lube on areas that are sealed, like the bail spring area your looking at.. Put it back together and don't worry about it, take it fishing (or they must not be biting) and wear it out.... Tight Lines!!!
  20. LBH, glad I don't have to choose or judge. All of these guys have some of the best air-brush talent I have ever seen... Very impressive..... Good Luck & Tight Lines To All!!!
  21. Have two of them, one for parts, one in OK shape. Heavy reels for sure. The slider switch is for back reeling, as stated don't throw that switch when fighting a fish. The fighting drag was a real joke IMO, the reels were discontinued in the middle 90's, and, the price stated on ebay is just that, a reel for parts... Graphite V-spool, drag system not to bad, anti-reverse dog the weakest link. A bushing reel. Just my .02¢ Tight Lines!!!
