  3. Hammer 4, We knew what you meant........ Chronarch is a great reel, and is a great upgrade to the arsenal. The Cardiff with a lot of proper upgrades can be a better reel, but is still a good reel. Tight Lines!!
  4. Some bail springs are a breeze to put in, while some others can be a bear. If you have a good mechanical aptitude then you could possibly get it done. If you have any doubts then contact OutDoor World Rod & Reel Repair they are the BPS service center.... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CFPage?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&appID=40&option=2 Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  5. J Francho, ...... bass wrangler569, How upset you gonna get when you can't remember how it goes back together??? Good Luck & Tight Lines!!
  6. I have checked the running of spinnerbaits and the like in pool water and never did anything to the reel/line/bait afterwards. No problems even using the same reel/line/bait. If your nervous about it then rinse the reel/line/baits.. Tight Lines!!!

  11. LOL that's funny 80,000 don't mean squat in this industry. The Viento® is a gimmick just like the Megaforce® with Twitchin' Bar.. They were built with lazy anglers in mind... Tight Lines!!!
  12. There is no easy fix.. That isn't lacquer, it is a Rod Wrapping Finish.... The fact it is fogging tells me that moisture is getting underneath the rod finish. The only thing you can do is let it dry fully (until you see no fogging), remove all the wax. Then if you want to stop it then you will have to water break sand the thread wrap area's and the spec decal area.. Then lay another coat of finish over each guide wrap and the decal area while turning the rod (so it will cure evenly). If your not into that kind of work, take it to a local builder or repair person and have them do the work.... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!
  13. I remember when they came out Raul and I both said they wouldn't last in the line-up. Guess Daiwa's gimmick reels didn't work out..... Tight Lines!!

FUJI SIC stainless steel lightweight guides, two footed frames on first three guides, according to the website. Tip top size would be around the 6.5 - 7.5 with a X-Heavy blank Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  15. As far as re-moding a rod from full grips to split grips and having a more sensitive rod most likely not, especially if you leave the dampening foregrip on the rod in front of the seat. You also make the rod balance differently than it did with the weight of the full grip. Take cork away and you lighten up the area that needed the weight to balance the rod nearest to the seat, take cork away from the rear and you cause the rod to be MORE tip heavy. Rod builders use the split grip NOT just because it's cool, but to help lighten up and balance a rod. We don't use fore grips because of the dampening effect it has on a rods sensitivity...I have built rods were there isn't any cork on the rod, just seat and guides. 16. reo, Because the AMP rods don't use a ECSM (BLANK EXPOSED REEL SEATS), they are using what is called a skeleton seat (just the heal and toe of a seat are mounted). Neither the ECSM or the skeleton seats are break through they both have been around for some time now. The first skeleton seat was made by Fuji® back in the early 80-90's and didn't sell well and they discontinued it. There were a few builders (including myself) testing the skeleton theory, and we found on lighter more brittle thin walled blanks we were having failure issues with a skeleton seat. They were failing right in the middle were the anglers hands would make contact with the blank. Causing sometimes damage to the hands. I know I dumped the idea real quick and opted to use just the ECSM's from Fuji® instead... Just an old builders .02¢ Tight Lines!!!

  19. Agree 100% don't mix lubricants/brands. Doesn't make sense to add new fresh lubricants over old lubes.... : If we receive a reel that has had HS in it, it is easy to tell the red dye is everywhere it was used. Then we have to do a pre-soak, then a degrease to try and get it out. If the reel still has the lube (HS oil/grease especially) in it, then we pre-soak in an old tank of degreaser, then to the filtered tank for the scrub. We have to do this to protect our 5gal tanks from becoming contaminated with the stuff and passing the red dye onto other reels... This is one of our hassles with the stuff... But to the original poster, sorry for the high jack and quick answer.. No it wont hurt the reel but IMO it doesn't help either..... Tight Lines All!!!

Have you considered trying it yourself, if not then trying your local yellow pages for rod repair. flechero suggested a local tackle shop, I second that suggestion (if you don't think they can do it) Then ask them about local rod builders, they will have someone they use.... Good Luck Tight Lines!!

Caught a 10+ drum at a local club tourney once. Came to the way-in looking like a bassmaster sitting on the boat trailering up to the scale. The word was that I had a 10+ in the well, took that puppy out just like the pros, held it up and boy did the club go ape$&!^.. Club dubbed me the Drum Master, and that name has stuck even after 12 years. One thing we noticed was the live well never smelled the same (no matter how hard we cleaned it), those fish stink something awful... Gave it to a local angler sitting on the dock, and he had plenty for his family after that... Congrats on stretching that line big time....... Tight Lines!!!!
  23. JF is right here. Dunking the reel wouldn't have caused the pinion yoke post the sheer. The frame (set plate) is centrificale molded and the post that sheered is part of that mold. The reel could have had the issue from the first right out of the box (cracked at the base from manufacturing), have seen it even on graphite Shimano® BC's from the past. Now for info on the reel, the warranty and service center for BPS is OutDoor World Rod & Reel Repair. I have posted this many times as has J Francho.. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CFPage?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&appID=40&option=2 Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!
