  1. Haven't seen one in about 7 years thank goodness....Lousy reel to work on (circa 02) I think it ran a 6.2:1 GR and a single disk drag system, no Instant AR. Basically a graphite frame and plastic side plate reel, rubber thumbar.. You can get a sense of the GR by counting the rotations of the full spool to one rotation of a crank paddle.. Worth, have no idea.. Tight Lines!!!
  2. One more little thing.. Make sure you don't have a large coil (use a relaxed line or treat KVD the line) of line coming off the reel into the first butt guide (guide closest to reel), this will also cut casting distance with spinning gear.. my .02¢ Tight Lines!!!!
  3. Believe me, if I had to break down and re-lube every time my reels got wet, for the 11 years I was tourney fishing. I would have spent more time re-lubricating my reels than using them. I will reiterate, if it was fresh water dry the reel then basic lubrication (Oil:(1-2 drops of oil only) Spool Shaft Shims, Handle Knobs, Spool Release Mechanism, Level-Wind Stabilizer Bar, Level-Wind Worm Gear, Line Carriage Pawl, and Ball Bearings. If it was salt water then "Have it serviced NOW"... Simple huh...
  4. In fresh water you will probably not have any problems once it dries out (basic re-lube will help). In salt water if you leave it, it will start to cause problems over time (corrosion and rust) and be harder to take care of.... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

  9. Yup Karen (Bingham ent.) and I both do.. Sold the Co. and moved on... I understand the new guy that has it all now, has changed the makeup of the burl we liked so well, and, that is why Karen had that special going on Andys old stuff.. Sorry didn't mean to highjack..... Tight Lines!!!
  10. Actually I said what I meant... Have said it many times here, and their is no need to re-hash it for Muddy' sake....
  11. I have posted this many times before over the years it is a little ditty from the best rod building site on the net.... Author: Andy Dear, Lamar Manf. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  12. Guys, it really doesn't matter. It's a house re-brand and, whatever factory tooled the reel they probably won't support it anyway..... Thats what we have found to be the case on all house brand and re-brand models we have seen.... Tight Lines!!!
  13. Twitch, I would put the effort in the red and silver reels before that plastic black thing... We had sent a couple to Garcia® back in the 90's to have that braking system re-set and they never really worked worth a darn. The duel centrificale block systems (of old) and a good educated thumb for the round reels was always the most reliable braking system I know of... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  14. Just another Garcia round reel (circa 84) that they tried to make into something they weren't supposed to be. Biggest piece of junk I ever worked on from them (next to the XLT's)... You would have to have a stock of the other grips Garcia came out with, and try fitting each to see what you like, but those are probably all you will find.. When you re-assembled the palming side of the reel. I'll be it is the mag plate that is rubbing on the spool edges. The small dial fine tunes the mags. This whole assembly when we serviced them back is the days (early 90's) was a giant nightmare.. That whole assemble is best setup by the factory. IMPO I would contact Pure Fishing and see if they can service the reel and set it back up to factory settings... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

  17. KidBlast, How bout some info on how long you have been fishing? What are you fishing with now? Where are you fishing now?
  18. When I store my reels I service them, then place each in an old sport sock. Like Aaron mentioned I have gutted an old Plano box, and I place all the reels wrapped in it. Doesn't matter so much were you place the box, just that they have the drags backed off, and are protected from bumps and bruises and away from moisture. I never store my rods (off season) with the reels mounted. I do hang them from the tip tops without reels. Some of the new rod socks and bags have a loop on the end that would be able to hang and protect better. Just my .02¢ Tight Lines All!! ksbasser, You have learned a lot since January, how is the mod job on the other site... 8-)

  25. I see.
