What Rod For What Job?
Don't go wish list hunting! Pick the techniques you think you might want to learn in a priority list. Try taking a full season to physically/mentally learn just that one technique, as you do you will start to realize what gear you are really going to need. Point is don't rush it take your time, and do it right.. Just my old school .02¢ "I rip the fish's lips off" Please don't they can't eat if you do..... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

eye guide fix/repair...need help/advice/techniques!!!.......................
Second thought...... I would also check the tip top tube edge to see if there are any nicks or sharp edge. If so I would contact a local shop for a replacement tip top that would be the less costly way to go. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Steez Eyelelt Fell Off
If the guide fell off and the rod didn't break. Contact Daiwa for warranty info on the rod. If not then you will have to find a local tackle shop or rod builder that has the ability to do guide re-wrapping. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

eye guide fix/repair...need help/advice/techniques!!!.......................
In my all my years of building I have never seen the tip top tube edge cause fraying of lines or leader knots. I would suggest that you look at the tips and 2 guides back shock rings a little closer for hairline cracks or chips. Tip Top glue doesn't get hard enough to cause what you are describing. If you have a hard nub at that point file it down flush is isn't from the glue it is just a bad finish job Only one way, you will have to coat with a quality rod finish and keep turning until it sets up..Tip Top Glue isn't going to cover the edge of the tip tops tube. Just my .02¢ as a builder Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Line jammed under reel handle.
Raul is right. Remove the handle and look for the line wrapped under the drag star, around the crank shaft, inside the crank support bearing, and the one-way AR bearing. Make sure you have the reels schematic in front of you so you will know what and how it is all re-stacked when your done.... Better yet send it off to one of the pflueger factory satellite service centers. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!

Old shimano Curado value
Man, I missed that auction :-[, would have paid that kind of money for a NIB '93 rado. Paid $120 for a NIB 521 XLT Plus anniversary edition about a year ago. I swear you replied to that thread. It may have been longer than a couple of months ago. It was showroom perfect. I know reel Mech replied to the thread....he's the one who branded it a '93. I think he said the red color was a BPS exclusive. I tried to dig up the pic with no luck . Yup posted that info..... The red Curado (tomato) is the A model which was 1993.

e21 addresses issues
I'm wondering how many anglers here would have purchased one of the biggest gimmick stixs produced without the Boyd Duckett name attached to them.... Tight Lines!!!

Noticed this was a troll post when it first showed up.. But cannot understand why you all fell for it. Must have been the caps lock, and lack of intelligent wording that drew you all into it.....

need opinion on casting reel.
I would keep the round reel, it's perfect for the Santa Anna River Lakes etc. type cat fishn. But if your headed to one of the reservoir's a fishn the rental boats @ El Cap, San V, Hodges and want to get into casting spinner's, worms, etc., then I would invest in one of the less expensive LP reels for that. But I wouldn't trade or sell the Garcia Round reel. Just my .02¢ Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Drag won't tighten sufficiently
Agree with Wayne P. Then another thought. Being as you have been into the drag stack, could you have not placed the drag spring washers, back in the wrong orientation at another time when you were in the reel. They are the concave washers on the upper part of the stack under the drag star... Just a thought.... 8-) Oh BTW just in case, the proper orientation is () Not (( Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

setting the drag
JF good points all. I don't lift a fish out of the water with the rod. When i'm setting drags, it is a fighting drag setup at a 45° rod angle. Don't like the idea of any angler lifting fish out of the water with rods.. It may be cool to watch the pro's flip small 1# bass into the boat like they were yellow fin tuna, but it can waste a rod in a heart beat. Also they don't buy their equipment, they are working for money against time, and could really care less as to what they teach the younger novice anglers in the world watching.. If your using braid you definitely need to go softer on drag setting and rod tips to accommodate the lack of stretch in the line. For mono you should still set to a fighting drag as stated above, if you need no slippage from hook sets try laying your thumb on the top layer of line and that will give you an almost direct drive hook set. It works also I have used it for 20+ years of baitcastingTight Lines!!!

setting the drag
Personal opinions aside. This old school stuff and should be followed.... There is a right way to set your drags.... Mount the reel to the rod, thread the line as usual. loop the tag end. Have a buddy hold a spring or digital scale and place the loop over the hook for the scale. Preset the reels drags to a light slipping setting. Now lift the rod tip and take a reading when the drag starts to slip. Next add a little drag to the system and lift again and take the reading when the line starts to slip. Repeat until you hit about 1/3 the line test break rating... Doesn't matter if you use light drags or not, getting into the habit of pre setting the drags on your reels is just another way of properly using and maintaining your gear......
