Revo STX reel oil
The one thing to remember when lubricating the reel...."Less Is Best" 8-)

Revo STX reel oil
Ok the only oil that comes packaged with reels from the manufacturer that I don't, won't, use is Quantum's. I would use Zebco oil first. I don't think the label-less bottle of oil that comes with the revos is Silicote so use it. The red oil from Daiwa is a reel oil, or Daiwa wouldn't put in the package. Same with the Shimano oil. My oil is about the same viscosity of Shimano's oil, and I stand behind it. To beat the rest that will follow up with their recommendations there are many more lubricants out that state they are ok for fishing/marine use. You got my recommendations.... "Professional Overruns" with heavy mono?
Question if a flipping reel why not just tighten the CC and you don't have to worry about, if using the reel for pitching I would tighten down as before and not worry about overruns. But just like any of the other anglers here, I get goodies myself when I get in a hurry and don't pay attention to what I am doing.. Think maybe you might have the reel over filled with the size mono (17lb test Trilene XT) your using, if so back it off to within 1/8 of the spool lip. Just a thought.. Tight lines!!

St Croix Legend Elite?
As you can see they both use the same blank (so a comparison would be the same) and engineering setups.. Difference's are the guides on them and the fact that the tourney bass line is technique specific, split griped with no fore grip and a colored blank. Just a builders .02¢ Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Should I?
What was the wrong oil? if it was like a 3n1 it would work temporally, if it was an automotive type then its to heavy. But I wouldn't as stated run it dry, there needs to be at least one drop of reel oil on it... Oil & Grease.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

IF you could have any components for a custom rod.......
Another really good reason for no custom. I don't even use my personal customs from the brushy banks anymore. I have some really old 6'6" to 7' 96% Graphite Loomis' I will use when I know i'm going to be bank/brush bound. With over 10,000 top notch custom builders in the country, only 1% of the angling public actually understand custom rods and buy... Another thought... Good Luck & Tight Lines All!!!

Reel lube
After reading about it from the Lear website, my main question is.. If it dries leaving nothing behind and is stated as a corrosion inhibitor not a lubrication how can it be any good in a reel. I mean I can see were a blue water reel/s could use the protection but I cannot see were it would lubricate any parts. IMO you would still need to lubricate with a quality oil and grease... But to each his/her own....... 8-) Tight Lines All!!

Reel lube
RWSCHMITZ, It looks like it last for weeks, because it stains (red/pink) every part it touches. I'm confused though does it freeze up reels their in winter or was that a typo....?? The OUST BEARING OIL will do well in the TG's although they do recommend their own oil (i believe its the red for ceramics) for them.. Tight Lines!!!

IF you could have any components for a custom rod.......
IMPO I wouldn't spend that kind of money (custom build rates) on an all around rod. There are plenty of really good all purpose rods in racks 6'6" to 7' med fast. I think that a really good custom rod is built for a specific reel weight, blank power, tip action, and lure range for a stated technique.. Not trying to rain on anything, just a builders thought.. Reel bearings upgrades question
I agree 100%. Also I haven't seen a bc spool support system in an actual cast yet that needed ceramics (MPO). Maybe an ABEC5 and like you said in stainless As far as upgrading the spinning reel bearings, usually a good servicing can make a spinning reel smoother. The main pinion bearings and sometimes 2 crank support bearings, everything else is now oscillation drive support and line roller support. Oh and just remembered the crank paddle. Clean them all out well, re-assemble with the proper amount of lubrication and see what they feel like then... Tight Lines All!!!

Rod Marketing is No-Brainer....
Have to disagree here In this economy..... Answer this why would a CUSTOM builder want to go mainstream? They aren't buying custom, mostly all the big box mfg's are doing is copying the looks of custom rods from years ago. I have been personally building split grips and spiral wraps for better than 6 years.... If you had the account to by a FEW thousand blanks, then you would also have the account to open your own MFG shop. You would no longer be a custom rod builder (you would be a rod manufacturer) and probably building off of a spec sheet were every rod built in a length and action would all be the same (ie Loomis, Kistler, St Croix, Shimano, etc)..... Can you say gimmick... No they didn't, actually it was the custom builders that started that trend about a decade ago..... Couldn't say for sure ask bantam1 they own the company... Tight Lines All!!!

Question for rod builders
A) Yes[br] It will change to some degree (depends on the weight of the foam grip).[br] C) That will depend on the shop/builder that does the job.[br] Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Lettering and Decal help
I don't. They are made by the fine folks at... Decal Connection Unless you have got an ALPS printer, there isn't anything that comes off of most printers that will hold up fade wise.... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Short Butt Jerkbait Rods
Been throwing jerk baits using length's from 7" butts on 6'6" rods down to 4 1/2" pistol grip butts on 5'6" rods, depends on the weight of my bait and the casting distance I need. Have even used 9" split grip butts on 7' rods from shore. It's all what you are comfortable with.... Tight Lines!!!

G. Loomis owned by Shimano?
flechero is right. Shimano® has owned G-Loomis® since 1997. Now Gary Loomis has started another company called North Fork Composites, the company is currently building blanks for the custom rod industry at this time.

repairing an STX?
Actually it is only a temp fix. You didn't pay that much for a reel were you have to super glue anything back onto the reel. Super Glue isn't water proof and that shock ring will fall out again. The only true fix is to replace the whole line carriage... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

Are these washers good or bad?
Yes.. they are good I don't see any ridges. If the larger one is the one that is shiny on one side then replace it turned over, the shine is from the drags working. Just make sure you have NO oil or grease on them....... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!

Trion Rebuild should ther be a BB here
I would say no bearing there... I will also advise only a light swab of oil on the one-way bearing there before you re-place the one-way bearing sleave.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
