  1. Did a Google search and this is what came up....... Don't know if these are the rods or not.. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewlipperevolutionc701m.html Good Luck.....
  2. If the reel came out of the box with that issue then by all means return the reel to the seller for replacement or refund. If it started this issue during the season then send it to Garcia® for warranty repair.... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  3. Red, If they are needed I personally would contact Pure Fishing Garcia® and order the parts, Abu Garcia Service Department 1900 18th Street Spirit Lake, Iowa 51360-1099 call: 1-800-228-4272 but then I wouldn't buy any reel parts from the worlds largest flea market (ebay).... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!
  4. Cliff, That's great I am always ready to help anyone service their own (if they have the mechanical ability) and are into the work. Some day I will get my book back up for sale... The whole key is that you do not grease any outside exposed components on a reel (Oil Only). Tight Lines!!!!

I use the burls for my split grips it helps with my balancing , it is a more durable than any cork you can get. As far as cheaper that will depend on the quality of the burl, I use Andy Lamar' burls exclusively now and they aren't cheap. Use to use the imported german brown and red burls but that quality has gone down hill I found out today..
  7. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!
  8. That is not a good thing. You will need to make sure you have cleaned the finish up quite a bit past the effected area, and you will have to make sure your wrap covers all of the cleaned up area. Good idea.... With High Build I only need one coat. But I would never thin any of the 2 part finishes anyway. Take your time and shop Cabela's or Mud Hole and get the supplies you need. The problem with most stores like Academy or Sportmans, or Gander is that most of the building supplies you find are for fly tying, and fly rod building. There are quite a few rod building supply shops on-line and if you check out the resources page on my site you will have all the rod building supplies you need..Tight Wraps!!!
  9. Red, Clean and re-lube the pawl and worm gear, use a quality reel oil (not grease) and that should clear up the problem unless the pawl is worn out then you will need to replace that (PN# 1125806).. Just another after thought, remove the pawl cap, and look for a small round stainless washer that sits on the end of the pawl (could also be in the pawl cap) if it isn't there it is supposed to be you will also need it (PN#1124201)... It takes up the gap between the pawl cap and the end of the pawl. Sometimes that space (if the washer is missing) will cause the pawl to not engage into the worm gear the way it should. Good Luck!
  10. The TD-V was a Wal-mart exclusive in 02 MSRP $119.00 Probably not supported by the factory anymore. Tight Lines!!!
  11. Then you don't want a 2 piece casting rod your looking for more sensitivity that the one piece would afford you. You must be looking at the CSC66M2A, the CSC66MA is basically the same rod. If you take a 6'6" blank that has a medium power and medium tip action and cut it, then plug the 2 pieces back together, in essence you get a fast tipped 2 piece rod. Personally I would be looking into the St.Croix Avid AVC62MXF, AVC66MF, AVC68MXF all one piece and all in the same line class except for the AVC66MF little heavier line class... Tight Lines!!
  12. Rooster, what technique/s do you intend to use the rod for?
  13. Yep that will work if you have an endless supply of money. I don't see where he has done anymore to the reel/s than any other bank angler I have watched.
  14. I would say yes they can if it is the rod for the job, and I will also say it will depend on how the system (reel/rod) is setup. Tight Lines!!!
  15. Well there it is, Hot Sauce again... I always say if the manufacturer want that junk used in their reel they would put it in the box. First off if it is the Hot Sauce Grease, that is collecting the dirt when your on the bank, and causing excessive wear on the pawls blade and the cuts in the worm gear. If I were doing the work it would be cleaned and oiled with only one drop of quality reel oil, on the worm gear, then only a drop or two in the line carriage were the pawl is housed, you would find less ware on the worm gear and pawl this way. Then you would be the one to add a drop or so every 4 or 5 outings to keep it lubed...
  16. Red, I agree with Micro... I have a S-L that is a year old, and no problems. When I read issues with reels like you have posted here, I can't help but say take the reel back to were/who ever serviced it, and get it done right. I have not seen or heard of all those problems with this reel. The guys servicing the reel/s must be using grease on the worm gear, for you to have that many issues with the worm gear and pawl. One question are you using them from the bank or boat? What would I do, I wouldn't give up on the reels.. Just my .02¢ Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!
  17. kikstand454, Probably had a lot to do with the way the rods were stored and treated in transit and while being used before you got them. Rod with nicks in the blank from fishing on rocks and in transit, and exposed to extreme heat all effectively build up to a future failure. As far as the original question I have 13/15 year old rods that I still use, that are just as crisp and powerful as the day I built them. Tight Lines!!!
  18. Bowtech, What you read in essence is a conventional spacing scheme that is done at the time of static stress testing for spacing, then all guides are turned to the 180° side of the rod and yes a guide is set into the space equally between the stripper and first 180 guide. The size usually depend on the guide size scheme that you use. Most all of my guide setups for the simple spiral are #10 double foot for the stripper, #7 (low profile) single foot for the bumper, then #6 or #5.5 (low profile) single foot out to the tip. Again all of this is done under static stress testing... This again will show you why flechero and I, suggest using either the clean untouched area of your rod or arrow blanks for practice, and not moding that rod.... Tight Wraps!
  19. Yup I see what your doing. If there is still a chance of you working custom bows or anything to do with that sport I wouldn't mod any of my bow building equipment. When you are ready to get fully into the hobby then I would either build for or buy a rod turner. You never know the 2 may just make a living or some good extra cash. Just my .02¢ on that... Oh back to your question... I have used FlexCoat High Build from day one.. I have been asked to try and use other formulas, but when you have used one for this many years you tend to have a system put together that works really well, so why change it. Tight Wraps!
  20. That will work if you make sure that you have a good smooth surface after you have removed the old guides. Each area of the rod blank will have to be cleaned and prepped, you will most likely be removing the glossy finish from the blank if it has one. Make sure the guide feet are properly tapered so the thread will climb up the foot properly also. A thought, instead of removing all of the guides why not just remove one and practice wrapping it to a new area of the blank that is smoother than if you tried to wrap it back in the same area. I think you would find that it would be easier until you have enough experience to do a re-wrap Good Luck.....
  21. You don't state the reel model or mfg. So clean the worm gear, and the pawl. Good Luck...
  22. L-B-H, Great job, I love watching your vids. Nothing better than a new piece of work that actually works and caught in pics or vids. I have been working on some swim bait rods using the spiral wraps and the guys are going nuts with them. They keep saying that the rods are 90% more stable then the conventional styles that they had been using... Again great job & tight lines!!
  23. dodgeguy, We understood, but many won't.. Tight Lines!!!
  24. Can you say marketing hype for a house brand rod.. Do a forum (Bass Fishing Forums Bass Boats & Fishing Equipment Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, Leaders, and Knots) search for Acadia Rods you will get about 67 answers... Good Luck......
  25. All of my reels were under $100.00 3 Curado 201B's, 1 Revo S-L, 1 Garcia 5501, and a butt load of older Quantum QG3501 Competitions. I like um all........ Tight Lines!!!
