  1. I was staying in the price range of the rod he has, but Sierras are great.
  2. Dobyns Fury 704c or 734c is just that rod
  3. I hope humans start to take climate change seriously. We're talking about record breaking heat and melting hands. Until we start to combust I fear nobody will care because of their blowhard of choice.
  4. Things are only worth as much as people are willing to pay. They cost a lot because people pay it.
  5. Eagle rods are $60 new. It isn't worth fixing outside of tape or something.
  6. I started on Strike King Bitsy Bug jigs in 3/16 and 1/4 oz with a Strike King Baby Rage Craw trailer. I suggest you do the same. It's cheap and they get bit a lot. These little jigs will teach you a lot about jig fishing and keep your confidence since you'll be getting bit more than you would with a larger more traditional jig.
  7. Never seen or fished one on that small of water. Smallest for me is 900 acres, and that was too snug.
  8. Jig bites can have the subtlety of Senko bites and are similar to Texas Rigs. If you can pick up on a subtle Senko bite, and if you can fish a Texas Rig, you can do well with a jig.
  9. I fished when I had Swine Flu during the Swine Flu pandemic. I felt many times like I would pass out. I ended up catching one of my top 5 biggest bass up to that point in time. Other than that, I've only fished with the brown bottle flu. I remember one time when I was around 21-22 that I was so hungover that I was walking the banks fishing and puking simultaneously lol. Dedication.
  10. Berkley Big Game in 12lb. It's a thicker mono so 15lb, while great for beginners, isn't necessary, and you will catch more fish and have better lure action with the 12lb. Set the brakes at least half if not 2/3 of the way to start with. Set the spool tension to the lure weight. To do this, engage the reel with the lure tied on and keep letting it fall until it falls to and touches the ground without creating overrun or loops in the spool.
  11. 2-5/0 EWG for everything. I have zero problems with them despite the claims of poor hookups.
  12. Side arm, low trajectory will give you the best accuracy outside of pitching imo
  13. I bought a couple of the Lews KVD reels in January or February and they're some of my favorites too.
  14. A 10-12 hour day diehard will certainly find themselves within this time zone at some point, most likely quite often.
  15. Yep. Kinda like if I won a Ferrari. It goes bye bye instantly so I can get more and practical things.
  16. I find 7 lb sniper is the sweet spot for manageability and strength on spinning tackle
  17. You originally said it was for finesse, and seemed unmoved apparently when people told you that that's a panfish reel and now relegated it to anything that bites. Go light. Ultralight would be better.
  18. Too large of diameter and could probably use a better quality line. Try sniper, Invizx, or Tatsu. 6, 7, 8 lb.
  19. One of many reasons I don't use braid. It digs, it's too visible as a main line, and using a leader adds another knot and the problems that can and do come with it, including knot failure and the knot sticking in the guides. A quality fluorocarbon or copolymer has done me much better.
  20. Listen for the sound of fruity pebbles crackling in milk and fish there.
  21. Maybe I can talk my boss into letting me drive my forklift down to the lake.
  22. He does Minnesota too. It seems to me most ND trips are for other species and lakes and most Minnesota trips are rivers for SMB.
  23. I would love to see the people who call ounces heavy and painful tell this to a room full of concrete guys and construction workers, carpenters and plumbers, warehouse and fulfillment center employees, farmers and farm hands, etc. It's definitely not the fishing gear causing you to fall apart, and it's definitely not literally heavy. Listening to bass angler gear snobs can paint a weak and grim picture for humanity. Nothing would have ever been built.
  24. If something weighing ounces can do that by 45 then humans couldn't possibly do real work with their hands.
  25. Smaller fish in open water wouldn't be a problem for such a rod. That Fury CB rod is a whip. I only liked it for 1/4oz lipless crankbaits and even then the 703c is better imo. I couldn't imagine the 705cb having anywhere close to the power and action to drive a Texas rig hook through the thick mouth of a bigger fish and get it away from cover.
