  1. Wife wanted to stop in at a Goodwill store today so as she was looking around i went to the sporting goods section. I was extremely surprised to find a Pflueger SP25 as new and shiny as a new one mounted on a fenwick rod. I took the spool off and checked it over and it was top notch. The price was 14.99 for the setup but there were 2 problems. The rod was broken, missing 1/3 off the top part and the reel was missing the handle. Thats ok with handle missing as i have 4 other pfleuger reels to borrow from. I went up to the counter and showed the rod and reel to an employee and he said that sucks. He then put his thumb over the number 1 of the 14.99 and said does this price look better. Bought it for total of $5.38.
  2. I understand the wife not liking it. I have a 2 door honda civic 2004 model which is a very short car. I put my 7.2 pole complete with reel, line and lure between us with reel end in the back speaker panel and rod coming between us and tip laying on the top of dash. Wife has no problem. Also the rod sittin that way i can hang my wet fishing gloves or socks over the rod and they will dry out real quick before our next fishing spot.
  3. are those temps going to be our usual january thaw untill the 2nd half begins?
  4. thanks for the reminder, i need to take all 5 out of my box and store them as they dont work for me.
  5. i am a budget on sale type of shopper when its comes to rods and reels. I dont care what brand or who used it on tv. Only care if it works for me. I bought some baits mentioned on this site like the superfluke which boosted my catch rate in sept, oct. I always passed over them in the stores and even seeing it on youtube videos i didnt pay attention telling myself i have enough baits, meh on the fluke. Then one night i come across a thread on bass resource about superflukes which i always passed over before. But at the time i had read all i wanted to on BR so i clicked on it and darned if i didnt go out and buy me some and away i went slamming smallies and Lm in sept, oct.
  6. large white zoom super fluke on a keel weighted 4/0 hook for the 5 lb smallmouth. Large white superfluke which i colored it some with black magic marker and smudged it in to look more like a minn shiner for the 5lb largemouth on keel weight 4/0 hook. Both caught in the exact same location standing on the side of a culvert.
  7. i bet ya if it was legal to get out of the boat many a pro would for a shot at the grand prize.
  8. no more buzzbait for me, tired of catching pike on it.
  9. I dont get what ya all are saying about the bad smells. I use garlic, different bass gells and gulp minnows and i still grab a sandwich even with my stinky fingerless fishing gloves on. My wifes farts are what chases me away. When i am fishing i am not dainty, i even pick a booger or 2, no time to clean my fingers.
  10. Bank only for wife and I. Fishing around ottertail county and becker county in minnesota we have an extreme amount of rivers, dams and lakes available to us all within minutes by car. When we decide to move we are packed up in 5 minutes with gps fired up we go to another spot. I dont even take my waders off or my fishing gloves. My car, honda civic is my land boat and gets 39 mpg.
  11. working in vegas in a mechanic shop the owner came in and got into an arguement with and employee and fired him in front of us in the shop. The employee started to get pushy and next thing they were on the floor fighting. Myself and 4 other mechanics stood 10 feet from them and watched. When it was over we laid the owner on a creeper and rolled him out into a vehicle. His wife drove him to the hospitol, he had surgery to put his broken ankle back together. Days later he comes in with a bunch of mexican food for us to eat together and speaks to us and asked why didnt we step in to help him. We knew why and we all just blew off answering him. He knew the answer.
  12. Thats over 1/4 of an inch, Thats a wonker!
  13. Ummmm, speachless, its best i ?‍♂️ away from this comment.
  14. the guy pictured designed this jerkbait. He swore to me its great for smallies in the river. So i bought 2 in case i lose one.

  16. when living in the philippines the natives are very supersticious. On new years eve when the clock is minutes away from 12:00 many natives have been waiting in their cars and sittin on their motorbikes. When it strikes 12:00 they start their vehicles up and rev the engines at a high rpm to ward off and remove any bad spirits that may be possessing the vehicle. They rev up and down for 5 minutes then shut em off. All good for another year.
  17. i am usually asleep by 11.30 on new years. Just another night for me.
  18. I met a woman back in 1986 and we dated for a few months then moved in together. I wanted to get a boat to fish and ski with. We went and looked at many boats and settled on a new Sea Ray 18 foot fiberglass inboard outboard. I asked her to pay half and she agreed. We paid $5,000 each, i paid cash while she got a loan. 15 months later we broke up. Both names on the title i towed the boat to a dealer and had them sell it. We each got $2,800 back.
  19. to bad folks cant sell them like a oyster pearl, probably make some good side money.?
  20. I had a friend whom suffered from stones. I never knew why or how untill i read your post and then researched it and came up with this.
  21. up north here we got 11 inches snow yesterday and now today its snowing. These storms are moving east and northeast in ine with all the lakes and the ottertail river i fish. I am hoping for alot more snow moisture for the rest of winter along with a wet spring so the lakes will recover alot of what was lost from the previous winter and summer drought. I also watch water levels of far away lakes especially lake mead outside of las vegas nevada. I boated and used to run up the colorado river into the grand canyon from lake mead and camp out. The water was at its peak high back then in 1997. Now you cant get near the mouth of the river entering lake mead as now its all dried up for as far as you can see with just a trickle coming out of the mouth.
  22. hey, i swear it wasnt me who took a dump. I only stepped out to pee like an idiot into the wind. When wader fishing especially when the lake water is low i get out pretty far and i come across many submerged beer cans and bottles where the ice men were set up.
  23. back in the day when i ice fished i was always inside a friends ice house with heater, tv, stove. I didnt own any gear and didnt need to as everything was set up ready to go when i got there. The only thing i cared to catch was a buzz, the fish was a bonus. Many times i drove off the lake at night in a blizzard which added excitement to the whole experience.
  24. Here in minnesota drive around a few of the 10,000 lakes minnesota has and you will see unlimited amounts of fishing boats, speed boats, pontoons laying in the weeds next to the lake houses. I come across many abandoned boats that are aluminum and still look good but the trailers are usually trash. I always think i could get one for super cheap and get it going but then i snap out of it realizing i dont want a boat.
  25. just finished blowing the snow with our 1975 Bobcat. This blower uses a paddle tail instead of an auger for the 2nd stage thrower. Back when dad bought this it was advertised as being able to throw snow farther because of the 2nd stage paddle.
