Well, New Years Eve is coming up on Friday night. There's a good cafe near us that has some fresh walleye brought in from Wisconsin each year. They serve a good fish dinner.                         My wife and I will go up there around 5:30 or 6:00, have dinner, then head back home and find a good movie to watch.                                                          That's the extent of our New Years fun. I'm not a big party guy, and New Years can be a bad night to be out running around.                                                       It's been this way for us for a long time. New years is  important,but, at my age it's just another day.                                  For those that are going out to celebrate, please be careful. Get someone to drive for you, and play it safe. My New Years resolution is the same every year: Catch  more and bigger bass. In 2022, I plan on making that happen.

I was hoping to be fishing on New Year's Day, but 3.5" of snow are supposed to fall and it's barely supposed to clear 20* with 20+mph winds, so I guess I'm staying home. My long time fishing buddy's birthday is the first week of January and he wants to go on a trip the weekend after, so it looks like my first fishing of the year will be on Table Rock/Taneycomo, which I'm not complaining about. 

Looking back at this one and the previous year,

hard to know what to expect from 2022.

Sure to be another wild ride though.

Either, way we'll be ready for whatever.

As for the night itself, 

we'll be hunkered down as usual.

New Years Eve on the road - we used to call it Amateur Night.

Not playing.

When there's a big moon and it's not totally fridge,

we'll take the big dogs for a late night walk through the woods - pretty cool with the snow & all.

New moon this time means deer everywhere.

Don't feel like dealing with that scene, so we'll be just chilling by the wood stove.

I can hardly wait for 2022. It’s going to be the year I break the lake record . Watch for me on the news. I’ll be the one recently divorced living out of my suburban. 

I’m ready to kiss this godforsaken year goodbye, work wise anyways. Looking forward to 2022, our new house will be done Aprilish? Already scoping out the new lakes in the area. Career decisions to be made in the spring as well. Take the promotion or potentially take a new job with our customer? Next year will be interesting. 
 

New Year’s Eve plans? Spend a couple hours with some friends then come home try a new beer and watch Michigan beat Georgia!

I'm fishing on New Years Eve in the rain. I'll have to set my alarm so I can awaken from my post fishing coma to give my lovely bride a kiss then blackout again.

i am usually asleep by 11.30 on new years. Just another night for me.

when living in the philippines the natives are very supersticious. On new years eve when the clock is minutes away from 12:00 many natives have been waiting in their cars and sittin on their motorbikes.

When it strikes 12:00 they start their vehicles up and rev the engines at a high rpm to ward off and remove any bad spirits that may be possessing the vehicle.

They rev up and down for 5 minutes then shut em off. All good for another year.

Even before all this covid nonsense started, I was never a big party guy, but the way things are going right now you couldn’t pay me enough to cram into to some house with a whole bunch of random people. Most years my wife and I are in bed long before midnight, and it’s just another day for us. Here’s to a smoother year for everyone though ??.

I think the last time I partied for New Years was back in the early 80s.

 

Now I'm usually in bed at least an hour before it hits midnight.

 

Might cook up something special for dinner - we don't go out...ever.

We plan to have a quiet new years eve. Used to go out to eat and then either go to a movie or come home and watch tv. Now with covid being so bad we will probably order something to eat, go get it and bring it back home to eat. Definitely not getting in any crowds right now if I don't have to.

We're going to spend a wild night cooking dinner, and then watching tv.  Probably the Twilight Zone marathon, if it's on again this year.

For the first time in many years, I have something I want to do on New Year's Eve: listen with my wife to a live Billy Strings concert on Bluegrass Junction on Sirius XM while sitting on my couch sipping martinis between my two German Shorthaired Pointers, then bed at a reasonable hour. ?

The wife and I haven't been up past 11 since Bourbon street in 2009. Lol

We may make a toast, say around 9 and listen to a little music but early to bed and early to rise.

But only 30 minutes to go! I’m asleep by about 10 haha

I think we made it to midnight 3 years ago, and maybe one other time in the last 7-8 years. Most weekends we’re sleeping by 10:30-11. A couple Saturday’s ago we were wide awake by 4:30! We’re old! ?

When I was younger, New Years was a big deal. I went to a fair number of house parties. It was a good time.

 

I haven’t done anything like that for years now. Nowadays I usually prepare a nice meal for the wife and I, enjoy an adult beverage, and try to stay awake for the new year.

 

On Friday I’m preparing a bone-in prime rib roast on the rotisserie, jumbo shrimp as an appetizer, and loaded baked potatoes.

We are doing our Christmas that night with my family. Making a bunch of appetizers and hanging out for a while. Then ill probably come home put on Frasier and tear into the whiskies I got for Christmas from my girlfriend and her mom.

I am hoping 2022 is a better year all around than 2021. I barely got out on my kayak last year, some of it was due to rain and thunderstorms ruining good fishing days and some was just me being behind on everything.

 

In 2022, I will be going on vacation down south in April, getting married in May, my oldest son graduates high school right after that. And now I have waders which will make cold weather fishing much more bearable.
