  1. my blind answer. i would go with the MegaBass Valkyrie 7-2 heavy. i imagine it could double as a frog rod. or maybe bigger swimbaits and A-rigs.
  2. My friend was helping lift a kayak. He said, “whoa, I can almost put my finger thru your keel!” He wore a soft spot. It’s a very rough kayak. I saw him slide it up stairs once. it happens.
  3. This. it takes exactly the same 20 minutes to heat up my Weber Genesis Propane grill. i call it a push. both tie for the same 20 minutes. i live in a wildfire PTSD neighborhood, so i only light my charcoal grill during the wet months. we smell smoke and everyone walks on into the streets and sweep the skies for smoke. i use my propane grill during the summer or i send out a public information outcry if i do light up the charcoal grill. hahhah
  4. DAANNNGGG!! i can even stomach paying for a $250 carbon fiber kayak paddle. you boat guys are ballers!!
  5. my bass boat friend has a Nitro. i wont even pretend to know which one. it's blue. and it is 21 feet long. he used to wipe with a silk diaper when he was done. i know, i have helped him. now? rode hard, put away wet is the better description. he used it 3x a week sometimes. it has been flawless. his BIL bought one right after and used it once, bought an ocean boat and likes it more in the ocean. that Nitro as been in his mom's garage ever since. 7 years? one trip! my bud tells me to buy it. but no. i am not ready for boat ownership.
  6. Th weather is confusing me for sure. I’m on the board for 2023, but it’s modest. Very modest. Thanks for news. You know more than most.
  7. yup.. flick shake. that is my new attempt this year. it looks wild underwater.
  8. I should ask them to show me, but my shop spools my spinning reels with braid with no backing. they have this multi wrap, end with a uni knot method that will not spin on the spool. I tried to carefully untie it to reverse engineer the technique, but I always end up at their shop, "hat in hand". I want to try some higher end braid this season. not sure they would be willing to spool braid I bought online. ha!
  9. this is something different. the weight on the hook imparts the craziest wiggle to the worm. I've heard it called the flick shake or something. I actually ordered some flick worms to try. I need to kick my friends butts. I showed them everything I know, and now I need to go to Japan to find new techniques to keep secret from them. hahahha
  10. per pound, nothing has more vitamins and stuff than herbs. just this past Wednesday, some dude went to the coffee shop and got a giant cup of hot water. he then proceeds to open up a plastic bag pulling out various herbs. he perfumed the entire airport. I gestured at him and he handed me leaves to taste. I chewed on a d**n cornucopia of stuff I had no idea the name of. opposite covid protocols..hahah..I packed a few sticks in my carry on and my wife smelled it immediately. I'm born from old school Chinese parents and we do herbs to the nth level. soups, etc.
  11. did you read the instructions? mine are different. WAIT..i do have a fuego! hahhaha..no tools required.
  12. to be honest, i severed my tumultuous relationship with the "knife-monkey" so i can do it again here. but baits tear and get snagged/lost. jus sayin.
  13. I’m going to Oklahoma next month to meet brother and friends. I just fly in with my gear and walk into their camp. The are gracious enough to plan food and stuff. I bought a handful of JON topwaters to hand out as gifts. While I was shopping the bait monkey whispered, “hey toy may as well maximize on your free shipping…”
  14. Mr thread title was optimistic at best. ‘’I think lakes in my area are flat out FILLED UP.
  15. What exactly is that? Wow. Just wow. That’s is the perfect reasoning for kayak fishing ti be a solo event. Wow.
  16. Thanks. I like. The Jackall is tungsten but the owner might be fine.
  17. We ate in Tuscany. The chef came out to check on us. He spoke little English but we managed to convey to him that his food was badass. Our friend jokingly said, “it’s good , but it’s no Olive Garden”. Chef totally understood and first feigned anger, then he busted out in a jovial guffaw. It was pretty awesome. It was my first time tasting Panna Cotta. Blew me away. Milk jello!
  18. I don’t worry about scratches. But the keel can rub thru. My friends pro angler. I could press my thumb thru. It was a soft spot. We did a repair with a Burley Pro. Scratches are not the issue.
  19. not entirely sure how big a LMB bass brain is. mine is huge and I still get info wrong. all my theories went to crap when the Deps Scat came out. that thing is supposed to look like what? I heard it is a bed fish's worse nightmare and they slam that thing. I guess if someone pooped in my bed I too would swipe at it. I am a fan of the Hazadong Shad, but even that realistic thing isn't my magic silver bullet.
  20. my last kayak, I bet i spent $80 on that Burley pro keel guard. honestly, it was starting to wear thru. I went back to my budget mode on my new Hobie. I tape it with that stuff plumbers use to wrap water pipes in wintery areas. (I think that is the use of this tape. I am not a plumber and I dont live in "wintery"). a roll is maybe $8. and it last a year easy. maybe two years. each tape job can go 3-4 months if a wind storm doenst drive me into the bank or boat ramp. normal use..it takes a beating. I might need to peel off an outer layer, and refresh periodically, but it takes me seconds. it peels off my plastic boat cleanly without residue. underneath my kayak is fairly pristine. I have a few nicks where big waves pounded me into some riprap, but that was on me. just a thought if anyone was interested in a cheap option. I have been tempted to tape a piece of stainless steel strap underneath a layer but I have been waaaayyy to lazy. some armoring. Here. My friends tease me but whatever.
  21. unlike my friend Choporoz..I have one kayak. I fish the Russian river frequently. I took my fish finder the first time and it was a waste of time/energy. i fished with the kayak clipped to my belt with a carabiner, and me knee deep a lot of the time. my Hobie has the transducer tucked into a cubby hole so it stayed put, but you won't need a FF in my opinion.
  22. I bought some when I didnt trust gravity. all the ones I bought were way too heavy. probably okay for wacky worming a river with (heavy) current, but for my needs they were a waste of money. I took them out of my kayak box and put them into the bin.."broken toys". now I need some...1/16th or 3/32. I know Jackall makes some. any others. I think I like the tiny single strand weed guard of the jackall. thoughts? I am not above crimping a split shot on my current setup.
