summer is coming...(fingers crossed).  hot days fishing, dehydrating myself.  I once went on a 10 day backpack trip.  I put 6 big cans of coconut water into an ice chest and parked the truck.  when we came out, I pulled the chest out and I could still hear some ice sloshing around.  I handed out the cans to the fellas and PHOOSH!  everyone belted one back.  there were five of us, so I drank two.   it was refreshing, but it actually rehydrated us.  well, it got us started on the process quick.  now that is the first thing I do when I come back from fishing.  slam a glass.  plecebo?  maybe.  but it tastes great.

now it seems to be everywhere.  I bet some phillipine coconut farmer is driving around in a Ferrari.  it has taken off and gotten very popular.

I drink it and mix it into smoothies. Great source of potassium.

I prefer Dew water

Tullamore Dew that is. ;)

I love coconut, Almond Joy’s, German Chocolate Cake, so I figured I’d go for the water, nope. Guess I’m old school, it’s Gatorade for me.

I do from time to time...I haven't found a brand I really like yet.

It’s a lot like straight water, only slimy and thick and tasted like sun screen…….

My buddy brings them on the boat, he says soldiers used them to hydrate.

Have you seen their ASVAP scores? The best thing to hydrate is water. Coconut water has a marketing campaign, and folks are sheep.

Don't like plain water? Couple drops of this per quart...lots of flavors.

While I prefer well water straight from the hose, I do like the unpasteurized version of coconut water. The canned versions vary widely from decent to utterly unpalatable.

Is bottled coconut water as good as fresh? If it is taken out of the coconut and packaged for retail it isnt real 100% coconut water. You are being scammed by corporate america.

Once a coconut is cracked open it begins to oxidise and is open to bacteria. Pasteurisation removes this potential bacteria, but unfortunately also kills off the nutrients and electrolytes that can only be obtained from fresh, raw coconut water.
I drank alot of fresh coconut water in the philippines, they call it buko juice, buko means young coconut.

Nope, never even wondered what it tastes like.

Indeed. So true. They are not equal.

I’ve been drinking coconut water since I was able to climb coconut trees to pick them and de-husk them and then crack the shell in a way that you don’t lose the juice.

Drinking coconut juice is nothing new. What’s even better than drinking the juice is eating the sweet flesh of a young coconut. Everything you see in desserts and such is the hard, mature, coconut flesh. Yes, it is still good, but it doesn’t hold a candle to young coconut flesh.
