  1. 100% spinning. here's why. leader length and my sinker. my rod NEEDS to have a bait keeper hook way down on the handle. that way I can keep my sinker clipped in and that puts the bait and hook right above the reel, typically. lobbing the bait: you know that hunting technique that Aboriginal folks use? two weights on tied together with a cord, that they throw into the legs of running prey to trip them up? well, my bait and sinker are like that. ask the goose I "Bolas-ed" as it flew into my cast. I use a more gentle lob to cast further. the drop shot is not a bait I just drop straight down..I like to cast it out there, and jiggle it back. the spinning cast lets me not tangle the entire bait presentation up. my drop shots are light!! my hook sets are "love taps" compared to my bait cast hooksets. I use light braid with a light flouro leader to feel that ever so slight "tap" of a bass eating my bait. gah..I love drop shot fishing.
  2. I have these as a kid. dont remember if they have been bass slimed. maybe I will remedy that. I think I bought them for the white bass frenzies we used to target. I think they are balsa wood. is the bigger one a Zara spook? do I need to seal the cracked areas to preserve the wood? just an epoxy? thinking of tossing them after a few resident bass. like an OG plopper bait.!! the top bait says CRAZY SHAD on the side. feels like wood. google showed me they still make a Cotton Cordell Crazy shad but the new one looks like plastic.
  3. no doubt. he fully submerged everything. truck went turtle underwater and the tow rig just pulled its out as is. that's how I think it played out
  4. Standing and punching. My bait got hit hard and I retaliated (with a hook set) next thing I realized I’m standing on one leg , and headed overboard. I let my standing leg go limp and I dropped on the deck of my kayak. Phew! Bass was gone - probably spit the hook when it was laughing at me. The deal was; I have only punch-fished from a bassboat. I forgot to recalibrate my hook set for my kayak. well I didn’t give up. Five minutes later and I got another on the punch. smaller tho. But I’ll take it. ! Today was tough! But fun and educational. 102 degrees out. Very little wind. What little wind we had was also 102 deg. I think we fished the wrong tide. Low-incoming. I’m not great in those conditions. August 20 2022 - dinkfest.
  5. You know how Blanchard eats In&Out when he doesn’t fish well? Well, I don’t love burgers. Me? “Botanas de Marisco”. Bounty of the sea seafood cocktail. I forgot to tell them to put the chili flakes on the side. It’s a shot glass of red pepper flakes on top. I already stirred it in for the pic. Oh boy. Tomorrow is gonna burn. Haha. When the CA Delta beats me into submission I crave it. I treat myself to a decent meal. it is yummy tho. Probably should put a roll of toilet paper in my freezer. I did not get skunked, but hitting the road at 3:30 am was not worth it. do you have a after-tough fishing meal?
  6. ^^^ that looks like mean fly!! I'm gonna need a bigger dish towel!!!
  7. Spooling a reel w Braid and I inadvertently let in a giant fly. It was the size of a dime! When it buzzed my head I could almost feel the breeze from its wings. damp shop towel swinging around. I got the sucker. I think they are getting bigger here.
  8. that boat comes with everything but the battery? what battery are you running if you had to buy your own? how long can you motor?
  9. this is my nightmare while fishing. an owl would have been scary. I got a goose once. wrapped him up with a dropshot rig. I casted and he flew into the flight path of my bait. I was so shocked. I didn't realize what was happening until I noticed the bird flying up in the air with my line. I closed the bail and he came down. two other kayakers converged without a word and helped me. that bird was ticked!! we released it unharmed. the guys were wearing goPro's so it was all on video. we cussed a lot.
  10. as do i. but everyone has their own set of rules. understood. my pan is usually the last thing I wash. couple of reasons. if it is really dirty, I have it simmering water while I do the dishes. then I pull it off the stove wash it with the same sponge, and put it back on the fire to dry. second reason; a CI pan is like a battering ram to everything still in the sink. no bueno. lessoned learned.
  11. just basing it on my own experience bud. in high school I didn't have $500 to spend on bait. I was buying my gas, and food my mom didn't feed me. plus...girls. I was once mtn biking and chasing a bunch of high schoolers. they were my "jackrabbit". pacing me. I kept up, but barely. one kid screams back, "man we gotta go and drop this old guy". I scream back up, "old guy? hey, I think I am the only one here that my momma didn't buy my mountain bike for me". we all laughed. on the downhill, I had no shot. they disappeared. d**n..today I dont think I have $500 I can drop on baits..hahah maybe next week.
  12. I'm and unpegged Tex Rig user. but headed to the Delta Saturday. and there is grass galore. might show the bass something new. I do have a envelope of Tokyo Rigs in the right kayak pocket. which one is more grass friendly?
  13. you have more than one TW sticker on your Yeti? where did you put the Yeti sticker ?
  14. yea. the nucanoe 10 looks tiny. like floating around in a walnut shell. (I exaggerate). my buddy stands on that thing in big boat wakes. I didn't realize the OP had the 12. wasn't he looking at the ProAngler 12?! which is going in the wrong direction.
  15. man, that looks good!!! Cement driveways are our norm. I wonder why some areas go one way and some the other? hmmm
  16. ahhh.. the nuanced Preposition. hahah..
  17. yea. it could be an underlying medical condition. hell, (hate to say it) even mild depression will make you lose interest in things you find enjoyable. I think a first best step is to eliminate any possible med causes.
  18. I got three of them. After #3, clicking on the option just seemed useless. I put one on my kayak at the time, one on my toolbox and i tossed the third one. I suppose I do need a 4th one for my new kayak. you still getting them?
  19. hahahah...and this looks just like a what exactly?
  20. I admire your ability to buy only one of everything on that list. ahhaha...and you went for the free sticker!!!!
  21. when was your last doctor check up?
  22. go to a lead weight. and peg it. I did this last weekend out after a session of "throwing my tungstens into the water". I think the bigger profile kept it out of smaller cracks? or the softer material didn't burrow in. either way, it felt better losing lead than losing tungsten. the Current was dragging my junk into snags. so going lead and heavier solved my issue. that's my theory anyways. maybe try the "free rig"? looks less snaggy to me.
  23. i am eyeballing the Megabass offering hard. same magnitude of $$. i have a rod tube. the Bazooka tube i think. carrying that thing thru a busy airport is a good time. hahah.. we once strapped it to a pack mule, but that is an entirely different horror story.
