targeting walleye pickerel with plastics
Jig n grub has boated countless walleye for me both when trying for them and accidentally.

Bass Tracker 175 vs. 190 - pros/cons?
My 20' tiller is crowded with 4 people fishing in it. Either way if you swing the bigger boat and it fits where you keep it nicely the only downside is the extra investment.

Pick Up Trucks
Get a small boat then. It will NOT be faster in a kayak....depending of course on how you store it at home. My boat sits in a garage uncovered. The launch to Lake Minnetonka is less than 1000 yards away. I can go from both the Jeep and boat in the garage to in the water in less than 10 minutes on the way out and less than 15 minutes back into the garage. It would take me that long to pull the rods out of the truck and put them in the kayak. Of course with such a short drive, my rods never have to leave the deck of my boat. I actually have a slip it could float in as well, but covering it and taking everything out of the lockers takes more time than launching. Maybe none of that applies to you, but don't forget the time it takes to move things around.

Marking brush piles
Or buy a cheap tablet and use that...or a used smart phone, don't pay for data or connect it to anything but download the gps maps and use it for marking spots. I give my kids my families old cell phones. If they lose/break them I am out nothing and it would only be $25 on Swappa to replace them.

Pick Up Trucks
Great trucks. I fully expect the towing range to be atrocious however. My neighbor gets his Rivian in October if things go as promised so we will find out then. This blurb on the lightning has me scared to have it as my sole towing vehicle....cut the range in 1/3...

Pick Up Trucks
Ford's website was down but I was curious as I find the SUV significantly more flexible than the truck. On the Chev it is a 15% adder for that utility. I have little ones I power around town though and when they have friends it makes a truck not as friendly. To be fair those are base packages. I added the 18" wheels to make the bodies comparable, but the Tahoe also has significantly more equipment on the inside I didn't add so the 15% isn't really fair.

Pick Up Trucks
Two cheap clothing racks and I have a rod rack in my Escalade/Yukon/Tahoe/Expedition. Up above everything and can't be hurt. No one will steal them either as they aren't visible. Have carried 18 up there on a trip as well. I did upgrade to a rod locker to carry them so the Escalade is going down the road, but it worked great for when I needed it.

Catching 12-14" Bass?
If it were like my last Sunday adventure where within 2 minutes of getting to my first spot something was blowing up the bait fish. Tried some faster baits with nothing and then went to the Neko and on 6 successive casts I caught small bass. Tournament or not I fished out the bite and left.

2022 MN Season Thread
I am hell bent on figuring it out, but not exclusively. It isn't the only place I fish, but I can be on the water in 10minutes and out and back in the garage in 15 after meaning even a quick 90min I can fish for over an hour. When I have more time I go elsewhere. I will map some deeper structure next time out and see what I find. Sole focus so far has been weed edges, but was disconcerting not seeing fish through or near them.

Jig vs T-Rigged Craw
I prefer a jig in most cases. Perhaps because where I fish crayfish or bluegill are often the prey. That being said after a big boating weekend when there are loose floating weeds all over from boats chopping them up a jig sucks. The weedguard loves to pickup all the floating trash. If there is a trick I am missing I would love to hear it

2022 MN Season Thread
Seems dinkfest isn't over for me. I've never been an offshore fisherman, but am trying like hell to become one. Only fishing the big T near my house deep, but trying to find them. Also trying to ignore my natural run all over the lake to spots I know hold fish shallow and stay on the main lake. Being I haven't owned a boat in 10 years, SI, DI are new to me. It's crazy to find deep weed edges, but that hasn't helped me find fish. Where should I look? The lake shows no thermocline setup yet, has grass growing to 22-23' deep (clear), and has lots of structure both deeper and shallower. When I look in shallower than 22' all I get are weeds. What I've been doing is finding humps, ledges, points with depths there and mapping out the weedline and looking for fish. It's put a couple in the boat, but not many. I haven't seen any schooling fish, but have seen some baitfish. What should I look for. I did catch 8 offshore bass this Tuesday, but all dinks and to be fair I only found them by watching them bust bait fish up on the surface. Not so amusingly after wearing out the school, I mapped the area and saw nothing. Caught an 16,17 and 20" in shallow after giving up on the deep. I know this lake holds big bags but I can't seem to find them except in shallows which are hit and miss.

Subtly Sweet Tea
Geez. In making a 2oz coffee I used 1/8 cup of grounds, but to be fair I make each coffee independently and regularly drink them as a cappuccino with 2 oz of milk as well.

Will High Gas Prices Affect Your Fishing?
It almost affected mine today. Left the house with an 1/8th of a tank and after scouting offshore had to stop on the lake for gas. $7 made me just put in a few gallons to make it through the rest of the day and kept me below wot. So it didn't change my fishing but I got home at least 15min later.

Hotels. Hate them!!!!
Precovid I slept in a hotel 80+ nights a year. I have zero problems and part of me misses it. Although it is way better now as prekids it was over 150...at least I get to eat well and charge someone else for it all. The fun part was retiring 2 passports in less than the 10 year span they worked for. Run out of pages and they aren't valid.

E85
It won't harm anything if it doesn't sit in your tank long. If it does, don't use it period. Going to have to be more than .50 off to save you money. Expect to lose 20% of your mileage...so if it is more than 80% the price of a normal gallon I'd be it to be a wash. Your driving and truck may be different and I have heard of cars that only take a 15% beating, but you should measure yourself as those were not adjusted for "my" right foot.

Night fishing during the Dog Days of Summer
Dusk is the bewitching hour in Minnesota. Go midlake at that time and about 30 after complete dark you can approach shore again. I spend a lot of time on a boat at night... my favorite time to be out, so peaceful.

Storing garbage and recycling on your boat
Line, used plastics, packaging, cans, etc. It isn't much which is why I asked. I don't like putting cans in the livewell because they aren't filled with just water, but only having a few at most now means they get crushed and have to be put somewhere. Then there is the line when I take off i want it secured so it doesn't end up in the lake. It isn't much of anything but I like to have it sorted so I can dispose of it properly and being it is somewhat diverse it isn't simple unless I just said screw it and put it all in a gallon ziplock to throw away. Mostly what gets consumed on my boat is sparkling water in a hydro flask, but there is always some line, worms, ripped frogs etc.

Awesome work! Looking forward to the vid and even more so to your reaction to her maiden voyage

My frog's gonad is exposed
Are you saying to lube and pull it's gonads? Jeez. More seriously, I agree. Anything to make it slippery and it will go back in with a little tug. Like throttle plate says the worst that happens is that it tears in which case you can usually mendit back together.

Can smell the finish line now. Boat looks GREAT!!

Waterproof footwear options that are easy on the back
I wear birkenstocks on the boat for the same reason. Have the plastic pair for when I need to get wet, but prefer the cork when not being wet. Teva's as stated above should be fine for wet as well.

Jerkbaits in the summer time?
With a VPN it works, but then I'd have to pay for a vpn.

Jerkbaits in the summer time?
A jerk is a year round go to bait for me. I switch to floaters and a more aggressive retrieve as the water warms. Behind a frog it is my number one confidence bait...but I will say they seem to work better up north than in the metro. Awesome. Can't wait to hear about it...although I will be in Germany and this forum doesn't work there

Who is right, wrong? Planet Fitness manager, staff and I argument.
Considering where you live, I probably went to high school with her parents. Lol. I have found that escalating things in a way that makes people want to help you always works better, but when they are lazy and unwilling my method changes completely.
