Leaking 6th Sense Crush 50X
Bought several Crush 50X, Crush 50S, 100X, and 100S lately. Bought several of the ghost models which are somewhat translucent. Both new 50X i fished yesterday leaked with no to little impact against rocks and no slaps on water to remove grass. I guess I was able to tell they were both leaking since they were both translucent. Very frustrating. I hope this isnt common and I got a couple bad ones but I was 2 for 2 yesterday.

3700 TackleStorage
my favorite are the 3700 size Flambeau Zerust 5007 in the grey color. These have a soft feel to them which i think helps with cracking. Could be wrong but I really like these. Wal-mart has them for under $7

Rod Builds Over the last 12 months-Recommendations
The only NFC blank I have built on was a 705 Zentron which is a crankbait blank. I have used some of their soft touch Carbon Grips which I love the feel of. Their website for me is a little overwhelming and finding something I want is a little difficult. Also I have heard that getting their stuff can take a while.

Crankbait colors
If thats their forage then that is what I would primarily Focus on. At my lake in Central NC primary forage is shad and bluegill so that is the majority of my cranks. I still would buy a couple shad patterns to try or have in case you hit a lake that has shad.

Jerkbait trouble
Im in the same boat or have been since January. I was able to get on some 1-2lbers in November and December but since January it has been a struggle. Im somewhat limited to how much I can explore in my kayak but later winter early spring has been a struggle for me in Central NC I have thrown jrs, jr +1, regular 110s, 110 +1s and a few other brands. Not a bite

Rod Builds Over the last 12 months-Recommendations
"The ETEC72MH-SS is a 7 ft 2 inch medium heavy power/fast action blank for lures weighing 3/8-1 oz. Great jig and texas rig rod. Light and sensitive. It has a little softer tip for a fast action blank so I have also enjoyed using it for jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, walking baits, and spinnerbaitsas well. It does a really good job dragging jigs up to 1/2 oz. Of the two I bought of these both are still alive and well. No breaks." Update this is the best jerkbait for 110 size jerkbaits that i have found. I cut a couple inches off the but and it is sweet for this. As much as I am frustrated about the breaks of the Eternity rods, Im going to have to order a couple more. Couple other blanks RodGeeks Bass Series 3 C372MHMF is a 7 ft 2 inch medium heavy power rod and is a moderate fast action for lures weighted 3/8-7/8 oz. This blank to me is more of a medium power rod and is perfect for small jerkbaits IE 110 jr/110 jr +1/Lucky Craft Pointers up to 100. I also have been using this rod to throw small cranks/squarebills and so far I like it. RodGeeks Bass 4 B473MM 7ft 3 inch is a medium powered/moderate action crankbait blank for lures rated from 1/4-3/4 oz. This has become my go to crankbait rod and I primarily throw DT6-DT10s, squarebills, Spro Lil John 60 DD, 5-7 Frittsides, and have even thrown Lil John 70 DDS with it and it is an awesome crankbait rod. RodGeeks Carbon 3 Series C371MF is a 7 ft 1 inch medium power/fast action rod for lures weighted from 3/16-5/8 oz. This rod is perfect for small swimbaits (keitech 2.75-3.8), shaky heads, dropshot, and wacky rigs. You could also throw Texas rigs with 1/16-3/8 oz weights as well which I would do river fishing for smallies in the NC mountains. I built one casting and 1 spinning. The spinning is will me 90% of the time.

Looking for the right BFS blank/rod?
RodGeeks C256ULF, C260lf, and C266MLF. You can get the carbon 4 version as well but its more expensive. I have personally built on the C256ULF and the C260LF. Good rods that easily throw 1/16th oz. Personally if I built another one it would be the C260LF with tintanium guides. Also an option is you can find a 6ft 4wt fiberglass fly rod cheap on Ebay. Makes a fun 3 pc BFS rod.

Can't decide on a jerkbait rod
I have gone knee deep over the last 12 months on finding the best jerkbait rod and here are a few things that I have found. A balanced rod or even a slightly butt end heavy rod is best but still overall light in comparison to other rods. Light rods are huge especially if you are doing it all day. Also a light low profile reel makes a huge difference for me as well. Lastly I prefer a moderate fast action rod over a fast action rod. For me a little softer rod tip helps with consistent jerk and for me easier while sitting down in a kayak. With that being said I plan to order a Dobyns Champion 705cb and a Dobyns Champion 704cb to see how they work. After that Im done. Currently my favorite rod is a Rainshadow Eternity ETEC70MH-SS custom rod. It is a fast action rod but it has a softer tip meaning for me it is closer to moderate fast action vs fast action.

Rodgeeks bass 4 series
I have built on both but never a similar blank IE C470MHF and B470MHF. I think RodGeeks will tell you is the Bass 4 series are designed for bass techniques....Whatever that means. I really enjoy the Carbon 4 Series rods and the C470MHF is probably my favorite. Light as a feather and you can feel fish fart.

Help explain to me gear ratio
Im probably on my own here but I look more at IPT than I do gear ratio. For me I like a 23-26 ipt reel for crankbaits, a 28-30 ipt reel for Spinnerbaits/Chatterbaits/Lipless Crankbaits, and a 30-32 ipt reel for jigs/texas rig/wacky/dropshot.

High end spinnerbaits
So they perform better but are also prone to messing up? I caught a pretty decent carp in the MOUTH on a super eruption jr and it was pretty much trashed. I did flip in to kayak and it flopped around pretty good so maybe that was the issue. Just a lot of money to ruin after one fish. FYI shimano is selling some Swagies on Ebay for $8.47. Buy 2 or more and get free shipping.

High end spinnerbaits
Are they worth it? I have experience with the Jackall Super Eruption Jr. Not a fan as the two i have fished have both bent under very little pressure.
