  1. I have this rod and love it, but a 3.6oz bait will feel overloaded. Don't recommend. 3oz seems to be my comfort limit. scott
  2. I went jdm for my mets because of cost and availability. Digitaka is sitting at $270 right now and in stock. scott PS - I have a DX 744 FH and actually prefer a 7oz reel on it.
  3. If you're into longer rods, the Falcon lowrider has full cork on the 7'6 models. I don't have experience with them, but hear nothing but good things on this site. scott
  4. x2, but my experience is with the fury and champ series. scott
  5. I got my curado 71 about a week before everything froze solid. What little time I had with it was very impressive, though it was dragging 1/2oz jigs. It is currently my favored curado over the k, dc, and 301. The MGL spool has treated me well in the bantam and metanium with light weight baits. Although, I am curious and intending to one day grab a Daiwa Sv spool. It does sound like it would be the best light bait caster from an engineering perspective in my opinion. scott
  6. That's not a bad idea, I don't ever punch so I'm not sure. My guess is that it would be inferior to a pegged tungsten weight, the tube has a near 1" diameter and is super thin walled/light. I would think a weight making the hole and pulling the tube down would be more effective. Worth a try though. This is a mizmo ish 7" tube and an owner offset worm hook in 11/0. I sliced 1/2" of the tube on the shank side to give it more room to collapse on a hookset. The worm weight is tied off inside, pulled up tight to the bend and secured to the shank, it's offset a touch and slightly rattles. I'm hoping I get some spiral/glide on the way down. scott
  7. I'm missing, sent another dm. scott
  8. I tied a steel worm weight to the eye to make this giant tube stupid....Gonna drag it around in TX and see if they like it. scott
  9. If you were serious, Glen's video is the best....
  10. Best of luck! scott
  11. X2 scott I sometimes put boot tails on them and straight retrieve them as well.
  12. All good The outside circumference is 3" Small rapala scissors for scale. scott
  13. Just got the 7" Mizmo Ish tube. The walls are really thin, it's very collapsable. Probably not extremely durable, although I hope to have that problem really. Owner oversized worm hook in 11/0 rigs up nice in stupid style w/ a small slit. If anyone knows of a better hook for this, especially with a 90 degree line tie, would love to hear it... scott
  14. I grabbed these last summer and they served me well if you're up for a large single tail... https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Kalins_Mogambo_6_Grub_10pk/descpage-KMG.html scott
  15. I have the 7'6" MH and fish 1/2oz jigs and trailers with it and enjoy it, but I definitely feel near the upper end of the rod when the weeds are thickest. I think @NorthernBasser is correct saying the H might be the better choice. scott
  16. -Why shouldn't he follow the money? He's a fishing pro w/ bills to pay. That's the definition of pro. -Why would you ever listen to a sponsored pro talking about gear they are paid to use without weighing their conflict of interest in your decision? -Some of this starting to remind me of pro wrestling. scott
  17. I was looking at this rod, but ended up going with the 7'2" power pitch. I emailed with a shop owner on a different site that is a big fan of the series and he responded that it was a fantastic light pitching rod, little closer to a medium fast than fast. He also threw magdraft freestyles, light A-rigs and C-rigs with great success. He wasn't a fan of that model for frogs, but hadn't tried it, I assume because of length and the challenges of working a frog on a 7'9" rod. Hopefully someone with actual 1st hand experience sees your post and can comment directly. scott Correction; all of the above was in reference to the Steez AGS line, apologies for a bunch of non-useful babble.
  18. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Mizmo_Ish_Tube_2pk/descpage-MIZMISH.html I have one on order to play around with... scott
  19. The Curado 300 is a solid, well built reel and would give you the line capacity to keep ipt rather consistent. I have mine on an 806 and it's very comfortable. That said, the Tatula 300 is well worth the extra $70 imho. scott
  20. My experience, though not with that rod, is that you'll probably wanna stay @ 3oz or less. For some reason, swimbait rods always feel overrated. Maybe you can lob out a S-waver 200, maybe not. There's a molix 178mm that I've heard real nice things about and it's 2.75oz scott
  21. I'd kill for 40 degree water.... scott
  22. I fish non shad lakes, very clear water and have great success w/ shad color variations. If I have a choice I lean toward the green backs, feels like deep water bream/baby bass to me. Personally, I think most lure companies do a cartoonish version of bream anyway. scott
  23. I have the boss football heads but haven't fished them yet. The hook looks appropriate for MH/12lb line to me. scott
  24. I've done best in spring on the flats in 10-12 fow. The 766 sounds like a perfect choice to me. I don't like throwing them on anything shorter. scott
