Did the people on that boat survive? I do. A year or two ago we were fishing before a storm and my fishing rod started humming. Didn’t take me long to set it down.

I can’t stand the noise braid makes. It’s like nails on a chalkboard. The wind knots suck too. Tying extra knots wastes time when the bite is hot. Having an extra weak spot in the line doesn’t make me more confident. These are a few of the reasons I prefer straight mono.

My kid bought me a fishing pole for Christmas a long time ago. It’s one of those little Mickey Mouse kiddie combos from Wally Martinez. He was beyond excited when we caught some bluegill with it. My better half bought me a Dobyns Fury for my birthday 3 years ago, it’s special to me too.

Walmart sells tip repair kits with three different sizes of tips and a stick of hot glue. If you can heat the original and slide it off instead of cutting the rod it should be good as new.

While I’m fishing I sing the theme song from Laverne and Shirley. It’s a great way to remind myself to do it my way , yes , my way. Makes all my dreams come true for me and you.

Same thing happened to me with a spool of Yozuri. Never did figure out what the heck was going on.

Wind from the East , fish the least. I’ve been pleasantly surprised a few times but for the most part the saying has held true for me.

Hooksets are my favorite part of fishing. I fall asleep every night visualizing epic hooksets in fish big enough to fold the rod over and make the line sing. What a feeling.
