I watched a Cleetus McFarland video last night showing the devastation in North Carolina and how private and military helicopters are delivering insulin and other necessities to people stranded. The destruction is something I couldn’t have imagined.

I like those. I don’t have an Academy close, unless I want to go to Amarillo , so while my wife is shopping I get the Eagle Claw ball heads at Wally Martinez. They have served me well , as long as I sharpen them before going in the tackle box.

I ate a 9 # largemouth. Not because I wanted to , but things happen. She was delicious by the way .

Line size might be part of the issue , unless you’re using braid . Mono or fluoro are likes a rubber band on a long cast. To get a good hookset in that situation a longer , stiffer rod and a thicker line with a reel down and sweeping hookset will help.

I bought a used boat a couple of months ago. Other than that it’s been fuel and an occasional rod and reel (a lot of them are gently used) . I try to be as cheap as possible, but I’m still looking at around 10,000

This is a really fun time of the year for catching schoolers. My son and I went out yesterday and caught 39 in an hour and a half. What a hoot ! We got a few more months before the battle for one bite a day starts.

If I’m planning to ride or die with a jig , I’m taking two. The Dobyns Champion xp 703 and 735. That way when I bail on the jig I can still cast a senko.

Have you checked the drag and do you have straight braid on the spool?

I’ve got a bunch of them and the only one that has broken was because I slammed it in a car door. For the price they’re a really good rod.

I don’t really budget. I just do things.

One of the best friends I’ve ever had was named Duke. He was a Chesapeake retriever and he was one tough hombre. We spent every day all day together , even going with me to work. My Dad loved him as much as I did . Maybe more. Two weeks after my son was born my Dad found Duke laying by my front steps . His two year battle with kidney disease had come to an end . That was twenty years ago but I can still see him in my mind clear as a bell. I still love him and I still miss him.

My woman uses clear blue all the time and I do not. She catches just as many as I do, sometimes more.
