  1. I have 15 casting set ups, and quite often change them up to see what I prefer. Also line changes, and have a wide variety of gear ratios , so I like to experiment. Also like a nice looking, matching set up, color wise.
  2. Uni to uni, never had an issue, and can tie it easily with confidence it won’t fail… the best knot to use, is the knot that you can tie the best. I stick with that theory.
  3. I would be amazed if a ned rig did not work. I can usually catch on that anywhere I go. Or a wacky worm? Again usually always works.
  4. I’ve never had an issue with the uni to uni knot, for leaders, and the Trilene knot for mono, Palomer for braid. I stick to these 3. I can tie them all easily and have no reason to change.
  5. Glad to help out a fellow fisherman. I have more rods and reels then I possibly need. Happy to see they are getting put to use!
  6. I look forward to the fall crankbait bite, once I find them, get a bunch usually. lipless or square bill. My favorite way to get them. I guess from what he is saying, maybe I should not put the other stuff away!!
  7. I sent a message, I’ll help you out
  8. 4.5 oz is heavy? I guess I don’t think it is. Hey, everyone likes their own thing. I’m a fan of glass rods.
  9. Are ALX rods superior? Not sure I guess, I don’t own a dobyns. The IKOS , hustler is the line of rods by ALX, not a different brand.
  10. I like a glass rod for cranks, I’d suggest an ALX, IKOS , hustler. My favorite crankbait rods, along with St. croix , which you are familiar with.
  11. Depends if you feel they knew it was rude, and did it anyway. Or maybe someone inexperienced, and had no clue. a couple young guys in the boat recently did it to me, I didn’t think they had a clue . I said hi, asked them how they were doing on the fishing and moved on. No reason for me to get in an argument. It’s a public lake.
  12. I recently purchased 2 of the Lews LFS reels for crankbait rods, as I already had 1 and was impressed with the casting distance I was getting. Also they were pretty cheap on sale. Not sure how they will last in the long run, but I’m happy with mine. I should also mention I usually don’t have issues with backlashes, I grew up using my thumb. And part the reason I bought them is they offer a slow, 5.6 gear ratio which I prefer . no complaints, but not a ton of use yet.
  13. I just find it hard to believe floro is that much more invisible than mono.I fish 1 extremely cleat lake. And haven’t noticed a difference. Then again, I’m no expert ?.
  14. I own a boat, and use it on weekends. But for me, after work, during the week, I really enjoy shore fishing. We have a great park , with channels that are great fishing in the spring and fall. I catch as many fish from shore as I do in the boat. And makes for a quick , easy trip after work.
  15. When used as a leader, on spinning gear, when it’s a 6-12 foot leader, what is the advantage of floro over mono? I realize the stretch maybe different, but on such a short piece?? I guess I’m not convinced it makes a big difference, when only leader line.
  16. Bought a few a couple years ago, and kinda forgot about them. Anyone have good results with them as different option for Texas rig?
  17. I use uni to uni, but I believe the FG should work with that size line. lots of options.
  18. I like my St croix mojo glass alot for cranks, although I don’t use it for chatterbaits
  19. I’ve been using the uni to uni for braid to floro and mono for a few years without issues.
  20. Bass pro shops Excel
  21. Columbia craw- I’m in the same situation as you! Love the collection. I just can’t quit buying more? Absolutely love the awesome crankbait bite that comes in the fall.
  22. I use the SLX for light T-rigs all the time. Works great for me.
  23. Check your line right in front of your T-rig occasionally. I’ve noticed some fraying pretty frequently lately. Maybe from sinker sliding or maybe just rough bottom/ cover. I’ve started to retie more frequently, causing less breaks at hookset
