That's 100% what it was. I kept googling it as two words and not getting good results lol. I knew we had some in texas but I have never seen one in the wild. Neat experience. 99% of the bait I get in this way is shad

Latest Catch Pics Thread
I have only caught one decent fish from a boat this year, I am doing significantly better from the bank to this point. I'm just pulling a minimax through the fishiest looking slop I can find and receiving bass as a reward Don't worry. Before you know it, you'll have your own video game numbers while my thermometer looks like it wants to explode

I know at some point my recent run of video game-style numbers will eventually relax. But for right now I am enjoying every bit of it. I think I caught one five pound fish in all of 2025

What is your most successful lipless crankbait, (size , color, etc.)
Can confirm burning it in shallow water. Had a 4lb bass bite it that way on Thursday in the heaviest wind

Do you mainly fish from the bank or boat?
95% bank. i am blessed with terrific bank access to a large flood control reservoir with big bass in it. truth be told I have pretty similar catch rates regardless of boat vs bank. there are stealth advantages on foot sometimes. Basically unless I'm fishing offshore, flipping docks, or working suspended bass, I would rather be on the bank. I am thinking this year about using a kayak to expand my bank fishing. of all things. lol

I am of the opinion that dollar for dollar, if you can avoid snapping it off, there is no better value in bass fishing than a Strike King Red Eye Shad in the 1/2oz sexy shad variety. it just flat out catches fish, no matter what water body i seem to throw it in. it is generally the first bait of any type that I reach for. I have a few dozen in different varieties. right now i am throwing the 1/2oz Chili Craw because they are hitting it harder. that will change i also like the spro Aruku Shad, Lucky Craft LV500, and nomad swimtrex max. most productive color types for me regardless of the brand etc: 1. any shad color with a yellow stripe 2. pro blue/green gizzard 3. red craw 4. Fire Tiger chrome blue can be great in some places, gold is great on cloudy days or in muddy water Sometimes I like to throw the 3/4oz RES in some slighty deeper water when they're a little further off the bank like a bladed jig, sometimes it's not as much about the color as it is your retrieve style 14lb mono or 20lb braid

Is flippin becoming passe with FFS?
The guy I was on a boat with yesterday has FFS and was flipping too. One doesn't exclude the other, there's just a new technique available. My flippin stick is a daiwa tatula 8' punching rod which is no longer produced, any daiwa extra heavy fast rod with an x45 blank is cash money for a flippin stick though

6th sense Jigsaw bladed jig
i have to expand at least a little. I've been fishing tiny bladed jigs for a handful of years at this point. I used to rip the skirts off the 1/8oz Micros and throw a ned minnow on it. that's really what started getting me bites when I really got into this whole thing. back then there really weren't very many great compact bladed jig options. It was the Flashback, Mini (hook too big, terrible baitkeeper) or the micro (no baitkeeper at all) until the Minimax showed up which was a huge development for me. great baitkeeper, nicer skirt, perfect sized hook for a range of trailers. fantastic, fantastic bait. Now this year we have the baby jack, elite evo minimax, and the BFS micromax. I would have lost my entire mind over those BFS micromax jigs about four years ago. as for non-OG compact offerings, there is the Jackall Super Break Blade Fine model which I like very much for its light wire hook and general aesthetic (but is expensive for what it is), and the 1st gen copperhead mini which is excellent in cold cold water when you're moving at the speed of smell. really can't work the 1st gen with much speed or it will tumble. with all that is out there, I still buy the 1/4 and 3/8 minimax almost exclusively in Spot Remover and Green Gizzard. the zoom 3.6 shimmer shad on that thing is a match made in heaven, it looks outstanding, casts with some weight, and doesn't interfere with the chat of the blade at lower speeds

6th sense Jigsaw bladed jig
I stick to the OG MiniMax, the big ones don't seem to get the action on my lake. I have a few larger ones I use on lake fork cause they like them there. They chomp that minimax at home though, over 20lbs of bass on that this year, and as of this morning 11lbs of blue catfish lol if there were more companies that made smaller variants i would branch out some

Early mornings in early spring?
I do some early spring mornings here when the overnight temps are consistently high for a few days. Last week I caught two 4s and a 5 before 9am but it was 62 for an overnight low. That's all relative though; you get a stretch of days that are warmer at night than usual...you should be fishing at dawn

Cold water bladed jig trailer
For less articulate bladed jig trailer try the berkley powerstinger Has a nice shad profile and look, but doesn't wiggle like the zako or other traditional trailers. The honeycomb pattern in the back half of the bait is rigid enough in cold water that it doesn'tmove much

Favorite mini max trailer?
I love a good minimax thread. There's been a lot more offerings for smaller bladed jig trailers lately which is awesome. I have two favorites #1: Zoom Shimmer Shad 3.6 (tennessee shad pictured on 3/8 spot remover jig) #2: Zman Chattershad 3.5 The shimmer shad 3.6 is the perfect length for the hook and skirt on the minimax, and articulates really really well at the tail. That combo caught me just shy of 30lbs of bass last week. The chattershad is very similar but doesn't have as much of a belly. It might thump slightly harder because of that. It's my backup when I run out of shimmer shads. Honorable mentions are the Yamamoto shad shape worm and 3" zako slim, and the bruiser mcminnow. The shad shape worm is great in the summer for reaction strikes, but when they're really keyed in on shad you want that profile with a tail. The zako looks great but has slightly too much belly which needs a faster retrieve to get that thump consistent. The mcminnow is a lot like the chattershad and shad shape worm in that it is a slim profile/neddy sort of plastic. But it has the fin at the back and they make it in a smoke purple which is otherwise difficult to find

Who's the hardest core angler at Bass Resource?
My all star crew would probably be AJ, you, TnRiver, Pat Brown, and @Gutierrez. The first four because of results and environment. Gutierrez because of those reasons. Also I've fished with him, and he will paddle that hobie for distances 99% of folks reserve for a four-stroke
