  1. It is an absolute crime that I have to clean soap off the shower. That should just always be clean. But physics hates us and mocks us in clever and inventive ways
  2. I use my local NWS office and my eyeballs. I took the NOAA storm spotting class several years ago when I was chasing a little in my early 20s. I would encourage anyone who regularly operates a watercraft or spends time in remote areas to take the course
  3. Fun with ultralight gear
  4. this dude over here like "we are different classes of angler" but making his own crankbaits and catching fish on them affirms what I said about time and access if this is where i max out for the year it'll be the smallest yearly PB I've had since 2021 when I started fishing. location location. I'd love to have more smallmouth where I'm at
  5. She was definitely spawned out. Has the frame of 6+ but knew it would be lighter based on the shape. That bass jumped about as high as I've ever seen a bass jump after I hooked her. Probably a solid 3 feet. Jumped four or five times before I got her in. I was in the middle of adding some spool tension when she hit 🤣 edit: i am just realizing that is fish of the year to this point lol
  6. I woke up late but still managed to get four casts in wading before the sun crossed the trees and touched the water. Sometimes that's all you need. I was in and out of the state park before the staff even arrived. I met a very friendly border collie. Big fish is 5-6, mouth too big not to stick a scale on it. Both fish mashed a walking bait about 2 seconds after it landed. I didn't even have to move the bait. I'm gonna go catch a biscuits and gravy now.
  7. I appreciate the kind words, my biggest gift is time and access
  8. "Don't you ever walk me or my son ever again" vibes from that picture I'm at a stage where I'm not weighing bass that appear under 5lb. I lost my feel for size a bit earlier in the year, but I've had enough decent fish this month Ive gotten it back. I also firmly believe that we are not in different classes of angling, but in different times and places. Anyone with the same access I have could do what I do
  9. Same spot similar results. Didn't weigh any but biggest was probably 4.5. All your hopes and dreams come true when you wade fish, apparently. All my favorite places to stand are underwater, and my alternate spot has campers on it. So I guess I'm getting into the water these days. Don't mind the snakes as much as I mind the hog tracks. I don't think I got hit by a bass under 2lb today, if I had landed all the bass that hit I would likely be posting 15 to 20lb in here. I caught four between 2-4.5, one of them caught me with three points of my treble hook. I also had a duo lock bend out on me, losing a 3.5 ish bass and my favorite walking bait in the process. I launched my favorite backup into the lower stratosphere a few casts later. A happy reunion was made later on. Last fish dove into the weeds about 40 yards out and I put my gear to the test winching it out. What a thrilling morning.
  10. Walking baits are probably my #1 lure the last year or so. 832 20# mainline. 14lb sufix elite leader, 10ish feet. Palomar knot, vmc size 0 duo lock snap for line tie. 8' medium rod. 8 gear lews reel. Easy walkin.
  11. Had an audience this morning, couple of guys prefishing for a tournament rolled into the cove I was fishing. They were scoping and kind enough to speak loudly about what they were seeing. I caught the big ones but they caught some too. It was nice. Switched spots and caught a handful more dinks. All walking bait. They were not missing it this morning.
  12. Thank you I'm still pretty far from 100% but catching fish helps
  13. Been down with shingles for the last month or so. Finally got back out and the lake was kind. 5lb on the dot, a long 5lber. Then some dinks. 6 total in about an hour at that spot. The bigger girl ran me up under a massive log and got stuck for a little bit. I managed to get a decent angle to the side of the laydown and she worked free. That same log later claimed that red eye shad, and my fancy new daiwa mangetsu took some scratches. Oh well. I caught some good ones and I'm gonna focus on that.
  14. with you on this one. no replacement for displacement
  15. I'm only 33 but it's not a young 33. I have a spectrum hypermobility disorder that causes regular proximal dislocations of my left fibula, and arthritis in my hands and feet. I also pull my tendons really easily if I cast wrong. Currently though, my biggest gripe is being on my second bout with freaking shingles on my right side. Sure doesn't feel like 33 some days
  16. Anything MGP gets me good
  17. A few of the seasons last bluebonnets
  18. Yes Gerber, 32" I think
  19. ray roberts has risen 3 feet in the last week or so. things have shut off pretty hard for now, but it means summer fishing will be great. most of the places i usually go are closed/underwater. Even texoma seems likely to crest its emergency spillway, with downstream consequences if it does. i'll take the rain but i would like to take a bass
  20. I lose my mojo every January and February. You'll find em, I have no doubt. I have nothing technical to offer, just attitude
  21. I love the informative answers this forum gave to your question. One of the things that makes this place great. Like they said, to service the bearing on the main shaft. Rare that it needs it, but I like to service every bearing when I do a deep cleaning
  22. Falcon SC-8M 8' Medium Coastal Xg "Outtasight" Daiwa TWH150H Mangetsu 7.3
