  1. I don’t have any personal experience with the GCX but multiple times I’ve seen people say that there’s better rods for the money.
  2. Never fished a jig before and I want to try this year. I have no idea what I’m doing haha. I also don’t have a spinning reel so I picked this one up. I wanted to try something different and saw it recommended on tackle advisors
  3. My guess would be that this and the Daiwa reels that are supposed to be coming in March will be released at the classic
  4. I think I enjoy buying rods and reels, but I also over analyze trying to buy the best rod or reel that I can, at the price I can afford. I like buying new lures or plastics and throwing different things to see how they work. And if they don’t work I’m only out a few bucks
  5. Yes, I should’ve specified. My bad
  6. tackletalk10 should get you 10% off also
  7. I’ve only used braid. I learned to use a baitcaster with braid, no problems. I love the sensitivity and the fact that it doesn’t stretch. But I’ve never tried flouro, it’s hard for me to justify the cost and I don’t know if cheap flouro is really a good representation of what flouro has to offer
  8. Whats the difference between your “light” and “medium” jig rods? Are they both MH, one on the light side and one on the heavier side?
  9. I’m a sucker for organization. This is awesome. My dad has so much tackle, I don’t even know how much, I wish he would organize it like this (not just so I could raid his stash haha) That looks like a hanging file box, I’m sure there’s a way to rig it up so that the bars could slide to make access easier.
  10. I think that’s March for JDM and probably later in the year for USDM. Where did you see 19.800 yen? $171 sounds about right considering the Tatula 100/150/200 is $170 Edit: Plat has it listed for 19,800 yen
  11. I’m not looking for sympathy, it is what it is. Just keep working hard and maybe it’ll pay off one day haha It is crazy the differences between states, but that’s getting into politics which I’m pretty sure is a no no around here.
  12. I’m an electrician. There’s no such thing as a COLA raise. Employers have their costs go up, they aren’t crazy about handing out raises. And as inflation increases, construction slows down. I could sit here and complain, but that’s never solved anything. I just mean that while I’m glad the pandemic has worked out well for you, that’s certainly not the case for everyone.
  13. Wages I got more into fishing in 2020 when the price of ammo tripled and was impossible to find. Its not as bad anymore, but prices still are nowhere near what they used to be. Fishing stuff still is no where near as expensive, but it still sucks to see prices go up because they never go back down
  14. This is exactly the problem. Everyone who is already stocked up is in a good position. As someone who is relatively new to fishing, I don’t have a ton of tackle and with prices the way they are, I don’t know how I would ever get into something like crankbaits or jerkbaits or other hard baits. They just go up in price and fishing from the bank makes it too easy to lose baits.
  15. Very true. Most people probably won’t even be aware that prices went up. At this point I’d be happy to have gas under $3/gal and milk under $4/gal
  16. I’ve used my 150 MGL to throw 1/16 ned rigs. I can’t speak to the Lews but my Curado 150 has been great. Since the 70 MGL just went up $10 and the 150 is still $199 I really don’t think the $79 is worth an extra $40 https://japanlureshop.com/daiwa-21-alphas-sv-tw.html same same, but cheaper
  17. I read that if you calculate inflation now the same way they calculated it in the 80’s it’s actually worse than it was then, bringing it closer to the highest inflation in 70 years. Some of the price increases are going to hurt companies. Who would buy a Revo X for $120?! An SLX or a Speed Spool LFS are still $20 less! I think more people will start looking to the JDM market for reels.
  18. Wow, your DSG is wayyy better than ours
  19. A lot of the hate I see for Daiwa seems to be people that don’t like the T-wing or it doesn’t palm well for them. But those are just personal preference issues. Even coming out with multiple “redundant” reels, is that really an issue? I mean that they’re a huge company, I’m sure they do marketing research before they put out products, and communities like this usually don’t represent the majority of the market. Other than a potential argument over bang for your buck, is there issues with Daiwa’s quality control or some other tangible factor?
  20. Because a Tatula SV is $200 and the 150 is a direct competitor. I think if you have a 70 there’s no reason to run out and buy a 150. I got a 150 because if I’m only gonna have one reel I think it’s a good all around reel.
  21. I’m pretty sure this is it. Being able to sell combos has to at least be a huge part of the motivation. I just recently started seeing Dobyns in my local Dicks (which usually has a tick poor selection). I’m sure that trying to broaden their market has a huge appeal. The Lew’s Speed Spool LFS gets rave reviews, if you could get essentially the same thing with your brand on it and sell it as a combo I can see the appeal. I don’t think any of these companies are really trying to compete with Daiwa or Shimano.
  22. the Revo and Accurist are both $120 now and where you finding all these deals?! I didn’t think they had sales like that anymore, not since pre Covid
