Wrong...but I understand
Reminds me of ocean striper fishing, boat or shore.

The lost ones don't sting as much. How about you?
I don’t recall having one break off other then when I get a bigger then expected fish in the heavy weeds. The canoe moves easier than the fish giving them all the time they want to wrap up. If you were on the same pond at those times you’d likely her a few colorful words. I tend to stop thinking about it shortly thereafter, losing a fish doesn’t turn a nice day on the water into a bad one.

North East Bass Fishing -Do you use white lures (spinner baits, chatterbaits, etc) ?
There’s a big spring shad run up the Connecticut. The shad derby is in May around the Springfield area. Many of the MA fishing maps show Golden shiners as bait fish.

As I Get Older…
I don’t enjoy the winters anymore either. Went out hiking today, I had on 3 layers, my wife had 4. If monthly rentals hadn’t gone bonkers since Covid, we’d be somewhere in Florida now, which was the original plan.

Lithium help
I went with a 100 ah Enjoybot @ 30lbs. For $370 3 years ago. I went by the battery testing Will Prowse does on YouTube, he seems to know his stuff and does very in depth testing on them, at least he did 3 years ago. I did build a battery box with a battery monitor in it as running a trolling motor i/was new to me. I have no sues with the battery, as far as I can tell it works fine. My concern at the time was to get one that actually would put out 100 amps, many only said 50 amps in their specs. I was under the impression a 55 lb trolling motor could pull 55 amps at top end, in practice mine is more like 45 amps max. fwiw, 100 ah s way more then I need, could have gotten away with half that. I’ve never used more than 20%.

What Fishing Gimmick Did You Fall For?
Line conditioner, if it made a difference I not good enough to tell. I should go through my tackle and toss everything I don’t use, I’ll bet it’s at least 50% of what I have. If I try something new for 30 min and don’t get fish it’s back to what I have confidence in. I really shouldn’t blame the tackle, but I do.

Motor for a basshunter
I have a Bass Raider, fwiw, my 55lb Minn Kota Endura Max weighs about 22 lbs, the 100ah lithium battery, which I keep next to the motor, is another 30. Looking on Google the little 6hp motors that look like a weed wacker are 27ish. The 9.8’s that look like an outboard weigh 57. I don’t see the weight of the first being an issue, the 9.8 is probably too much for the transom. I believe my transom is sheet metal wrapped around the plastic with a wood core. I can see it flexing with the trolling motor just coming up to speed too fast, I suspect the 6 hp would do it too. You might have to come up to speed in a controlled manner to limit the flex.

Motor for a basshunter
if you use Facebook at all there are a couple groups on the Bass Raider and Bass Hunter’s, in the past I saw a few folks with motors posting there, you might join and post your question there if you need more opinions.

Anyone hunt brown bears?
I was researching black bear for carving and found out.

Why not more canoeists?
I always get a kick out of scenes on tv where a couple long time canoe paddlers are crossing a body of water flipping the paddles side to side to keep the boat straight .

Rod fixing/repair advice (top 3 inches of the rod blank)
If it comes down to it… I broke off a tip a few inches down, a shop local to where I was (La Grang, Ga) put a new tip on the stump. It started as a 2 pc 7’ rod and ended up a few inches shorter. Works fine as far as I can tell. Big difference is that I broke the rod.

How technique specific are your rods
I’ve got 8 Crescent wrenches.

How much better can reels get?
I’m thinking it won’t be too long before the reels are networked to the rest of the electronics. The fish finder will tell it how far to cast and how to reel to get the bar coded lure to the right depth for the largest fish. The trolling motor will position the boat to the most optimum spot for the cast. Probably the rod will be in the auto caster so it’ll be automated too. Once they come up with a fish remover the Tesla yak launch will drive and launch the boat where ever we chose and we can sit home and watch it all from the recliner on the in home IMAX. someone should be able to tie it in with a fishing video game.

What have you lost over the side?
The only thing I can think of is I rod and reel, thankfully it was a long time ago when I fished with much cheaper equipment. Now if the question was what have I had go over the side, but not lost, it’d be hats.
