  1. This comes up pretty often, if you do a search for “leader” you’ll get a bunch. Here’s one. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/265614-leader-questions/#comment-3146824
  2. I’m glad the closest we get is snapping turtles. I’ve been thinking of bringing the canoe down on a winter vacation, not anymore.
  3. Yes, I only take the plastics with me that I plan on using. I take one of the small zippered storage bags per trip, hold maybe 10-15 types.
  4. They still send out the paper catalogs. Mepps catalog request It’s pretty amazing how many variations you can get.
  5. Resuscitating an oldie but goodie that I hadn’t seen before. In all my years fishing T rigged craws, I’ve never once fished them on the bottom. I use them roughly 90% of the time I spend on the water and have great success with them, at least to me I do. I fish them at a steady speed, at whatever height seems to be working. I vary the height by adjusting the weight and speed. The waters I fish are shallow, under 8’, and by June fairly weed infested. The bottoms are mostly stumps and muck, covered with last years weed stems, this is why I stay off the bottom. That said, I’m headed out in a few minutes for a morning on the water. I’m going to try to fish the bottom and see how it goes.
  6. I dislike any wind over 5mph, at least when I want to fish. Under 5 is good, it breaks up the surface, hides a little noise, and if I try I can use it for a slow drift across where I want to fish. Don’t think it’s ever helped me to get back to the put in, it always blows the wrong way, kind of like campfire smoke. Once it gets up around 10 I don’t launch, or I head back if I’m already on the water. Many Tim’s investors driven an hour only to find it a lot windier at the ponds in the hills then it was at home. I do try and watch the trees and flags I pass on the way, let’s me turn around early. Very hard to fish a real weedy pond if there is much wind, it’s more work than I’m willing put into t. Is it just here in Ma that it seems like a crazy windy winter and spring?
  7. I fish from a canoe and think I’m too low to see in the water even with polarized glasses although at times I can see them to some extent. For me they cut the glare, that’s enough. I use wrap around style so all glare is cut.
  8. There’s one of these in the stretching room at the Y, I had no idea what it was for, until now. Thanks.
  9. Might be how the charge level is determined. SLA batteries, and this box, read the voltage level to determine. Lithiums don’t drop much in voltage, until they are dead, or there abouts. Like a lithium flashlight, the beam stays strong till it just stops working. So the voltage level you’ll see on the box shouldn’t be counted on.
  10. Well I was right, first bass today, also first time out. Took out the Bass Raider, due to weeds it can only be used this early in the season. Got about 10, 3 about this size, 2.5 lbs. A lot of fun when I can get away with using a ML, 2.5 feels like 5.
  11. I was a computer tech for 40 years. Bought a new Denon Reciever for surround sound 2 years ago replacing my old Onkyo that still used RCA connectors. After buying all new cables and getting that straightened out to my 6 speakers I couldn’t figure out the receiver software, must be a million things you need to tweak to get it to work. 2 months ago I bought a soundbar and repurposed the receiver as a radio in the workshop. The speakers awaits the next dump run.
  12. At times like that I hope there are no little kids on the water, voice carries pretty far.
  13. Hoping for the best for you.
  14. Google it, there seems to be numerous reasons, acceptable or not.
  15. The baits and techniques are mainstream, fishing from a canoe is not I guess. I can spend a whole morning fishing a 100 yd x 100 yd area, maybe even less.
  16. Flatfish, being last they don’t make it out of the basement.
  17. Thanks folks, I put in a couple orders.
  18. Both these and the Battle Baits are sold out, bad time to be shopping for them. Good thing I’m in no hurry.
  19. Any recommendations for 3/16 double bladed and or 1/4 compact double bladed spinnerbaits? thanks
  20. One can use these reliable occurrences to control the weather. For myself, if the lawn needs water I wash the cars. If it’s a crappy day and we want it to be sunny I leave my sunglasses at home.
  21. I buy what I can afford, if it happens to be on sale, great.
  22. Once summer hits and the rivers drop we’re not allowed to water but a few hours one day a week, ends any hope of a nice lawn. Wish I had back all the $ I put into it.
  23. Not me, I’m retired. I do the yard work on crappy days or better yet, weekends. I leave weekend fishing to the worker bees, I much prefer the quiet of the weekdays.
  24. Did you check the YouTube’s on it?
  25. Your a fisherman and in CA so it’s a 10 lb Golden Trout.
