  1. I started going to the Y a couple months ago for the same reasons, mostly so I can keep on fishing and hiking. So far so good, with weights anyway, hope I can stick to it. Thought I’d try swimming laps one day, in my teens I could swim for what felt like hours. 50 years later I struggled through 1 lap and thought I’d die, a whopping 25 yds. If I fall in one day without a life vest on I’m done for.
  2. After waiting since July to get a lefty Curado mgl 150 in the 7.4 speed Cabela’s finally got them in, and now so have I. Unfortunately, for me it’s too late in the year to try it out for real, I will go out first chance and try it from shore just for giggles.
  3. I only notice the problem during the live games, never just streaming movies and such.
  4. Thanks, just changed to tv from wireless to ethernet, will see what happens next week.
  5. Quick question. Watching the live game on Prime I get short periods where the screen freezes for a few seconds, like it’s buffering, a little wheel spins in the center of the display. Also at times the image goes to what I’ll call a low res, kind of like satellite tv does. If it matters, this is cable, not satellite. Do you folks get the same or is it just me? Thanks
  6. I value tracking over turning, no whitewater with my Osprey, that’s what rentals are for.
  7. I like canoeing because it’s peaceful, fishing gives me something to do while in my canoe. I choose bass over pickerel, bluegills, and yellow perch.
  8. If you load the canoe on a roof rack like I do I’d think twice about anything on the gunwales. The pic makes it look like it has a track on the thwart.
  9. Excellent, a proper fishing vessel.
  10. Peak in numbers of fish was the year or 3 just before Covid. Peak in numbers of other fishermen is during and after Covid. I’m on the downside physically, the canoe gets heavier and tippier, I worry about falling in more. On the plus side, the above got me in the gym and out on the trails, we’ll see what the spring brings.
  11. I just checked my battery sitting on a shelf, charged a month ago but unused since, 13.4v. How much you used depends on the motor and how much throttle you gave it. My 55 lb uses almost nothing when trolling, at least on my little plastic boat. 90 min at full throttle should use somewhere around 75%. Unlike a lead acid battery, a lithium won’t slow down as the battery depletes, it’ll just stop. From what I’ve been told that’s somewhere around 20%.
  12. You sound like bright folks, if you don’t know much about investing I’d suggest you learn how and do it yourself. FWIW, a family member just started with a financial planner, $300 an hr., they’ll also manage it for .75% if wanted. A Fee only advisor is generally the suggested route. A couple good basic books. 13. Most of what you mention I do all the time, the only difference being I try harder at being stealthy spring and late fall when the weeds die back and the water even clearer then summer.

I’ve got an old Husky 44 white top, bought in the mid 80’s when I heated with wood, it has never let me down but it’s getting heavier with every passing year. Last year I picked up a 10” Stihl cordless, what a nice light saw for smaller jobs, probably in the 8” range so far. Still have the Husky in case anything bigger needs doing. Over the last few years I’ve had 30 or so bigger trees taken down professionally, too big a job for me.
  15. I don’t keep anything although I did try few ages ago, just too easy to pick up a pound of salmon at the grocery store. Here’s a local river I used to canoe and fish in the middle of the Berkshires, beautiful area, unfortunately GE and Monsanto did it in.
  16. Google tells me 2 part epoxy is very common. The jack idea is a good one unless you want to remove the drain pipes. you can add fine saw dust or some such to the epoxy to thicken it up so it doesn’t run when setting. While you can get thicker stuff at the hardware store, I’d look for a long set time, it’s stronger than the short set kinds.
  17. I’ve caught exactly one bass on a top water, so I can reliably guess when I’m not going to get a hit.
  18. While I own a decent Senko, I never wear it. I did buy a cheap fake dive Casio for fishing, it stays in the glove box of the truck so it’s useless. It’s rare that I have a “home by” time, if that’s the case I’d look at the phone. When we’re out somewhere I just ask my wife, she actually wears a watch.
  19. I lost my brother and best friend in the last few years, they were my fishing partners. So now I go alone unless one of the grandkids go along. I really see no downside to fishing alone, quite the opposite. When I have someone along I have to take the boat when I much prefer the canoe. I also spend the day trying to put whoever I’m with on the fish with me taking the back side, which I certainly don’t mind, but it does limit how much fishing I really get in.
  20. You didn’t give your state so info will be of limited value. In MA you only need a title over 14’.
  21. I’ve started out counting them many times, not once have I managed to finish the task. At some point I get distracted and lose track

Being a city boy I too grew up on canned, my wife grew up in PA farm country and grew up with fresh, so of course we get fresh all the time, which to me are just okay, I prefer canned. We do grow and freeze most of our own veggies, much more so now in retirement. I do manage to stop out and get a steak after fishing, occasionally. She’s not a red meat eater either. I agree, Brussel sprouts are down right terrible, in smell as well as in taste.
  23. My wife uses and is happy with progressive Costcos.
  24. I have WileyX and couldn’t be happier with them, these are my 3rd pair in something Ike 10 years. I used an optician that deals with WileyX as opposed to online as being progressives I wanted to make sure the purple was centered, which I brought up and had measured by the optician. Mine came out perfectly. I’d suggest you work out the price online, then find an optician and see what their price is. The prices were the same comparing the WileyX site to a small town optician. FWIW, I 1st priced them at an optician in the downtown of an expensive town where a family member lives, they were double the small town guy. For this pair I got a price from a local optician, they were cheaper cause he gets his lenses elsewhere and puts them in the WileyX frames, as I’ve had good luck with WileyX’s lenses I passed on that deal.
  25. I don’t keep track so can’t do the numbers thing. First off, I only put in 4 or 5 hours when I’m out. Also the pond I hit makes a big difference, ponds with pickerel produce more and bigger, no pickerel, fewer and in general smaller fish. I have noted that April’s and Sept’s can vary, a lot. Unlike summer, seems weather plays a bigger role, some days I’m lucky with 3, some days 12 or more. Summers are something like 15 to 20, again, depending where I go. Up until Covid, I had days like you do in ME.
