You caught a bass there!?!? No way!!!
I was about 11 or 12 and used to catch fish in a small perculation pond that was fenced and they would chase you you off. Found a culvert that ran under the high way and when the wind was right would float a bobber under the road into the pond to catch fish. Wonderful how kids can solve problems

Do they have ground hogs in California?

Boat anchors
I fish mostly smaller lakes under 100 acres and use an anchor often even though I have spot lock. Usually let the wind take me along a promising area like a weedline. Gently lower the anchor, fish the area, then drift some more. Think the fish know I am there and the trolling motor confirms that. Also turn off the depth finder unless a newer smaller lake. Still use marker floats often. Again for smaller waters

Lucky to be in Texas and can fish all year. Fish smaller bodies of water and try to fish when there are 2 0r 3 days of stable weather.

Working to Stay Lean ~
Recently had cornea transplant and had to stop lifting. Really missed it and did continue walking. Am now back in the gym and regaining my strength. Changed up the routines and like the results. Work out about 5 times a week I am an old guy as 76. Convinced that staying in shape has helped me recover from several surgeries over the years. Keep motivating us A-Jay

How to catch the big one in Texas ponds
I fish numerous ponds to small lakes in Texas. Cover, vegetation is usually the key for me. swim jigs, chatterbaits, Plastics, buzzbaits and top waters. Punching if vegetation is real thick. Fish the weed breaklines, over the weed or in the middle of weeds. Good luck. Many of the places have DD fish.

Did You Name Your Vessel...??
In the red.

It's been a while . . . how about some knot talk!
Uni for most applications because I trust it and have not had problems with line breaks. Dont use a leader much

Fishing Ledger
Dont keep a log. So many variables. Just go fishing when I can and rely on time of year, lake conditions, weather. Great thing about fishing is figuring out the mystery for that day and body of water.
-
In what application(s), would you need a reel with 8.1:1 gear ratio?
I always have always used 6.something reels. I can fish them faster or slower as needed. Like to be consistent.

How do you differ and why?
Still have Jason Lucas book and recently read it. Still can learn a lot from it after 50 years.

Predict your 2024 biggest bass
7 lbs. plus. Think might be 8 pounder if I could fish more in February and March. Won't get that chance this year very often.

Yet another kayaker missing and presumed dead
Learned my lesson the hard way. I fish a lot of smaller lakes. Winter time fishing a 30 acre lake in Sun Dolphen 11 foot boat with a front deck and pedestal . Not real steady and no jacket. Casted sideways to the shore and was facing towards the bow and fishing to the side. Felt and tap and set the hook and went right over the side close to shore. Heavy clothing, rod in one hand tried to get back on boat. Kept drifting away. Began to swim to shore , but clothing, shoes and rod were dragging me down. Finally dropped rod and made it to shore where I was freezing. That was the a scary experience that could have been fatal miles from anyone. I am in my 70's and bought a boat I can stand in and wear the jacket. One of my favorite rods too.😪

NYT Daily Puzzles
Maybe off topic. My wife mainly does NY Times Sunday puzzles. Have seen her finish some in about 30 minutes. About as fast as she can write the answers. Amazing that such a smart lady married me.🙂
