Diagnose my Tatula noise, RESOLVED!
It was dry bearing. After oiling the bearings with a little RemOil, it's as quite now as my others. Thanks to everyone who responded!

Diagnose my Tatula noise, RESOLVED!
Second time on the water and it started making this noise. I popped it apart and didn't see any issues. There's no noise cranking, just on the cast. https://i.imgur.com/iOhMfRq.mp4

Daiwa Tatula TTU701MFS vs TTU711MLFS
I probably use the 701MFS more, but always have both rigged and lying on the deck.

Winter Storage For Soft Plastics
I've kept mine in an unheated unattached garage over the last 40+ years and never noticed any problems. It gets well below freezing, but it doesn't seem to hurt them.

$1,100 Swimbait!?!
I'd only use one when fishing in my bathtub where there would be zero chance of losing it.

What pliers do you use?
I have a set of hemostats and keep some form of cheapo needle nosed pliers so I won't cry if I drop them in the water.

Improved Clinch Knot Musings.
It was the first knot I was taught as a kid and I still use it 90% of the time. I've started experimenting with other knots, but the improved clinch knot is just a habit for me.

Fluke question
I'd never used a swivel until this year. I tried it a few times and like the slight increase in weight as well as not worrying about line twist.

Excalibur lures
I've got a few of the Bill Dance and Jimmy Houston signed ones in my boxes.

How many use straight braid exclusively?
When I was mostly float fishing rivers, I'd never use braid without a leader because the braid was too hard to break off and I didn't want to snap a pole in current. I had to deal with leader knots and I've had problems small diameter braid and wind knots so pretty much gave up on braid over the last few years. I may spool one reel up with straight braid and no leader and give it a shot lake fishing this year though.

Ambassadeur reels - anyone still use these, should I keep mine or sell for modern reel?
Modern reals are easier for me to use, but I fished the old Ambassadeurs for years. Last year I bought a 5000C for $10 in a pawn shop. It works fine, but I much prefer newer reels. For $10 I'll keep it as a loaner that won't make it cry if someone drops it in the lake.

Any tips for fishing with a noodle rod?
I've got a 10' noodle rod that I purchased several years ago for a steelhead trip. It was great for playing large fish on 6lb fishing line. I use it now for fishing dough bait for trout in a local lake.

The Found Lures Thread
No lures yesterday, but I did find a KVD multitool. I was standing on the dock at the boat ramp and saw it in about 6' of water. I grabbed a rod that had a crankbait tied on and was able to snag it. It had very little rust on it, so couldn't have been there very long.

Square bill question
I read about all the bite you get banging the crankbait off the bottom, but I seem to snag and loose them that way.

ID this lure?
It certainly looks like one. I wasn’t sure about the fish markings though. It’s also marked 90F on the bottom.

Who Carries Daily.....and What Do You Carry...and Why..?
I normally carry a S&W 360J 38 special in my pocket. I put a bobbed hammer on it to make sure it doesn't hang on my pocket holster or pants material.

How do you organize your jerkbaits?
I carry one 3700 box with floaters and another 3700 with sinking and suspending.

Cleaning up tackle boxes
I thought the dishwasher sounded like a great idea, but I think you have a valid point about the lead dust, etc. I've cleaned a few old boxes with just dish soap and an old toothbrush.

Inline spinners for bass
I had an uncle who swore by a #2 Mepps spinner with a pice of white pork rind as a trailer. I really haven't used an inline spinner for bass for years, but need to get back into the habit.

I May Never Clean My Reels Again
I've learned to use my cell phone camera for just about anything I take apart; firearms, fishing reels, small engine carburetors, etc. It's a huge time savor getting things back together correctly.

For those asking about the best colors to use for a bait
But we fisherman don't and I've always felt that's why the companies produce so many color variations and patterns. Sales!

King of Lipless Crankbaits
I still have a number of the various size Sonics and still fish with them. The yellow always worked well for me for some reason.
