  1. There was a post a few months ago talking about when they switched the handle to the right side it caused it not to feel smooth. This is a response for that post, I couldn't find the original. Also sorry for the long delay, I didn't notice it till recently. I was originally using it for drop shot so it didn't really load the reel up so I never felt a difference. Then I replaced the combo with a Tatula for drop shot and stopped using the Sahara. Fast forward to now and I decided to try and repurpose the combo with light reaction baits. With a small quarter ounce crank bait I started feeling a tick. I tried oiling both bearings on the main gear and the line roller and there was little change. Next step is to do a tear down and grease the main gear. It feels like the main gear is ticking. I hope they don't have the same issues with the nasci or Miravel. Or hopefully it's just a JDM thing and the US models were updated. Once again sorry for the delay.
  2. It doesn't have to be too big of an investment. You could start with a Kastking zephyr reel and rod. Or you can watch 100 YouTube videos about BFS reels and flip flop between a cheap CDM reel or a high end JDM then decide to get the new daiwa SS Air. I should have it by the end of the month. I've been moving more and more towards finesse after starting drop shot. I already fish micro t rigs with a MH rod with 8 lb sniper. So I figured that the next step was to keep moving from finesse to BFS.
  3. Most of it was nostalgia, I had a Bantam bass one mag when I was little. So I wanted to get one after I heard they brought the name back. All of the reviews said it was heavy. Tackle advisors said it was a great reaction baits reel, built like a tank and buttery smooth. So it's been great for spinnerbaits and retrieving horny toads.
  4. Not yet, I was preparing to order the Aldebaran BFS model because I heard so much but my Metanium Shallow spool surprised me so much with it's BFS abilities so I waited for the Aldebaran and ordered the SS air instead
  5. That's what I did during the winter. They only had 6.2s at the time I was ready to pull the trigger but I wanted faster. So I went with a Metanium. Then a week later I realized I still wanted a Bantam so I ordered the 6.2 to use for heavier reaction baits. Spinner baits and chatterbaits with swimbait trailers
  6. The prices are all over the place. Some tatula reels are less at asian portal. Also they had a recent pricing adjustment. The tatulas went up 10. I try to stick with digitaka but sometimes the lower prices at asian portal tempt me. But I end up going with digitaka because the shipping is so fast
  7. https://fishing.asian-portal.shop/category/select/pid/368005 Just a few at asian fishing portal
  8. So far when I have researched reels I haven't found any JDM Tatula LTs 3000 in previous gen or the MQ gen. They end at 2500. I got a 2500s last winter. You would probably need to look into the US model. For a JDM reel in that size and weight with a shallow spool you might want to look into the vanford 3000 HMG
  9. Casting: 7'4 HF St. Croix LTB with a 2022 Bantam 6.2 to 1. I got it originally to throw Horny Toads but its turned into my H reaction baits rod. Spinnerbaits and chatterbaits with swimbait trailers and T rigged horny toads. The next thing I want to try out are buzzbaits with soft plastic frogs. The Bantam is just a dream to crank all day. Spinning: 6'8 MF St. Croix Avid Walleye with a JDM Tatula 2500 shallow. This has taken over as my drop shot rod. I noticed when I go fishing all of my other spinning rods have been staying in the car. When I go pond and river fishing these have become my default rods to bring.
  10. Nevermind my post, I forgot he said it works fine then starts backlashing. Like the others mentioned it could be oil and grime making it's way to the brakes. This happened with my MGX. Working fine, turn suddenly it sounded gritty on the cast and would overrun. I used a paper towel to clean the brake side of the side plate. To help till I could do a full clean.
  11. Is it the black SLPworks custom zillion? I've been thinking about getting the custom body so I can murder out my zillion
  12. I haven't tried these but I did research ML mod/fast rods. I started dropshot with a 6 ft M rod and planned to switch to a proper ML. But after trying a few ML rods I always went back to a short M rod because I was used to it. Falcon spinning rods are mostly mod/fast Major Craft Benkei 6'8 ML iRod Genesis III 7'3 Dobyns fury ML MegaBass whipsnake it's rated xf but some of the videos show it kind of mod/fast TFO professional 7 ML it's rated F but it has a pretty mod action I ended up going with a 6'8M Avid walleye (victory blank) paired with a Tatula LT, I'm really liking it so far as my dropshot rod. I did some dropshot slop fishing this morning and did pretty well till the sun beat me.
  13. Even with st croix LTB and a Bantam you get that anxious flex feel if you don't have the reel seat tight. I felt some flex when I caught a big drum. Might just be flex if you load the rod up a lot.
  14. Right, you can use it with normal weights but it does benefit lighter weights.
  15. I started getting shallow spools so I don't need backing. Main line only FTW In response to Jeffrey, forgot the quote
  16. They get a lot of tuned reels for their market. One example is a big baits reel with a brass frame and aluminum side plates and it's like 400 new.
  17. The new gen base model came out recently. Any word if there will be a new XT and MGL SLX?
  18. What's the difference between the Stella and vanquish? Is it like the stradic and vanford
  19. My dad has an 8 ft Shimano FX spinning rod that he would use as a light surf/catfish rod. 3.5 ft shark almost pulled it in over the railing. I lucked out and grabbed it before it went in.
  20. Ark reels Tatula 150 Zillion PG Previous gen Bantam PG Revo x wide Revo winch
  21. I saw an unboxing video of a kastking BFS reel and it had reel foot shaped stickers. This way you can write down the line and keep it safe between the reel seat and foot. I'd imagine you can do the same with oil change stickers. The way I do it is I keep all of my old spools in a work boot box and write down the reels I filled with them.
  22. I don't know if any of the rods are 736's but southern salt has a few videos where he reviews the tactical elite. Then his later fishing videos he's using the tactical elite rods for inshore fishing.
  23. I used a few. I have one of the professional spinning rods and one of the older GTS casting rods. They're common in my area I guess because the warehouse is near by. There is usually tons of good deals on the used market. I was able to pick up the professional for 50 last year. I plan to get more.
  24. I think maybe some people are using a drop shot as a search bait because many times you get a bite on the cast. So maybe the thinking is, you get the bite on the cast that means there's fish there. When I fish a new area, I usually use a drop shot or wacky rigged senko for the bite on the cast reason.
  25. Road Runner is the first one for me. My dad used to buy them and a beetle spin a lot. If we didn't catch anything other ways, he'd tell me to tie on a road runner. But usually the first step was getting a hook to remove paint from the eye. The 2nd one would be a paddle tail swim bait. My first bass was on a small paddle tail my dad would always call a "Sassy Shad".
