6lb fluorocarbon suggestions
Daiwa Samurai FC. I've been liking Samurai for BFS lately. It performs like sniper. I like it because I can get it with 2 day prime. Some of the other lines are harder to get through Amazon. So if I'm not making a big order through TW to get free shipping, I'll just order Samurai from Amazon.

I turned to the dark side.
I meant it as a joke so you don't have to say you went to the dark side or something

I turned to the dark side.
I like to think of it as nice panfish gear that by chance catch a lot of bass while I'm crappie fishing.

Does any body have the new daiwa regal
The 2024 JDM Legalis has a screw in handle. It hasn't come out in the US yet. Might not come out because it's pretty much a US Exceler.

Does any body have the new daiwa regal
The new Daiwa reels with this body platform were upgraded across the board with zaion V. Some of the old daiwa reels had extra bearings like on the spool shaft and spool so maybe they cut out bearings that weren't necessary. I just got the JDM Legalis with all the upgrades, I would recommend this if you don't mind importing. Same price but it has a screw in handle and bearings in all the right places. I got mine off digitaka a few months ago.

NRX 901S: Hooking 4+ Lbs Largemouth Bass
For me I don't really set the hook hard. I lower the drag and reel into the fish and start reeling knowing my drag will slip so I know I have constant tension and kmow i wont pull the hook or break off. Even if the hook doesn't stick just the tension keeps them pinned. Ive brought in big fish on ML L and UL rods and as soon as I net them and give them slack the hook falls out of their mouth.

Shimano nexave or Diawa revros ?
If you can get them at a discount I'd recommend the revros. I got my revros for $36 and my Nexave at full price and I kinda wished I'd gotten a Sahara instead. If I was paying full price for the revros I would add in another 10-20 and get a JDM Legalis. It's pretty much a Fuego without mag seal

What line should I be using for my UL setup?
4 lb supernatural for the upper end of UL and if I know I'm going to get into bass. 2 lb daiwa samurai fc for the really light stuff.

Show off your Stuff
It's part of my training from the one that got away, probably about 10+ years ago. I hooked a bull red on light gear, panicked, fumbled with my drag, and lost it when it started going under the pier. I did some carp fishing and practiced using light gear with big fish. Now with BFS I can adjust the drag on the fly.

ALF St. Croix deal and TW deal got me at the same time. I was originally going to cancel an old ALF order to buy the Cashion rod because they no longer stocked my original orders items. So when I called to cancel, the guy offered to trade my order for a st Croix rod. So the bait monkey said why not both. Avid Panfish 6'4 LF Cashion Icon 6'8 UL

Shimano SLX issues
I have a similar problem with my SLX BFS (different frame from the regular SLX). My fear is after I re lubed it and reassembled it I accidentally didn't seat the main gear on the handle shaft. There's a square that the gear fits on. Then I used it for a bit before taking it apart to make sure I seated it. I'm worried if I turned the handle with the gear sitting up a few mm it might have damaged the gears. I'm not sure if the gears still line up if they're not seated right. I'm wondering also if it might be a spool bearing that got dirty because if I take the spool out and turn the handle it is buttery smooth. But the moment I put the spool in I can feel how rough it feels.

St Croix Avid Spinning Rods
Avid spinning rods are nice. I have a 6'8 M walleye that I originally used for light drop shot. But now that I have some other rods that can cover that I'm changing the line and using it for soft plastics and heavier cover shot drop shot. I liked it so much I have an Avid panfish on the way from American Legacy.

Any tips for fishing with a noodle rod?
Roadrunners. Might miss a few gills with a slow action. Bass and crappie inhale them since they're so small and hook themselves. I have an Old 18 composite Authentic UUL that bounces around as I'm walking to the bank with it. But that noodle action protects the tiny hooks and line. Similar with a ML TFO spinning rod I had. I got it but did not like the action for bottom contact, but its awesome with heavier roadrunners.

Rod for Bluegill and Panfish
That's pretty cool! I watched that video. This video is for OP

Rod for Bluegill and Panfish
Check out i_fish or fish anything on YouTube. They review a ton of UL panfish rods. The i_fish guy was promoting some JDM prototype rod as the best panfish rod. I want to get a nicer panfish rod because I also catch big bass with panfish gear. But I keep catching big fish on my cheaper rods like my Handing Magic L and TFO signature series (TFO makes a good panfish rod). I picked up the Handing for $30 and the TFO used for $50.

Daiwa Revros or Shimano Nexave
Try to check them out at a local shop and see which one feels better. I have both and for some reason I don't like the Nexave as much. I picked up 2 of the revros from American Legacy when they had the BOGO sale. I put a 2000 size on a 13 fishing panfish rod and probably caught close to 150 crappie and 10 good size bass last fall and it's just now feeling like it needs a deep clean. I've been adding oil to the main gear bearings and the knob from time to time and it's been fishing well. On a side note I have a 1000S Legalis on the way from digitaka so I'm pretty excited.

What rod/reel caught your PB?
When I was a kid I caught monster LMB and stripers but didn't keep track so I don't really know what my PB is. But when I did start keeping track, my LMB PB was on a 7 ft Ugly Stik inshore Lite (older generation) with a Lews G2 Spinning reel. Chartreuse and blue crankbait I picked up from a Walmart $1 box. I don't know the weight but I could put my whole fist in its mouth without touching the sides. I still don't remember my scale or ruler when I catch my bigger fish but I take pics.

Have you ever happily surprised by an inexpensive combo
I just ordered a Magic Soul casting rod because I liked the spinning rod. Base price was 59 and the 6'7 L casting I ordered was $31. I have a Lews Laser Lite 75 on the way for the Magic L and I have a Hicc 50 for the casting rod @MediumMouthBass I picked up 2 of the revros reels from American Legacy when they had them BOGO free. They're great reels at that price. It's the one in the pic I posted before

Have you ever happily surprised by an inexpensive combo
My favorite inexpensive combo was an Ugly Stick Inshore Lite 7 ft Medium power with a Lews G2 Spinning reel. The rod was kind of expensive for an Ugly Stik at 69.99 at BPS but overall inexpensive compared to some of my rods. Caught my PB with it a few years ago For a recent inexpensive combo I tried out the Magic L UL spinning rod from Amazon. It's really good. I picked mine up for 31. Really good for the price. I probably caught 10 dinks and 10 gills the first trip out. Then it handled this fish just fine

Changing Curado BFS gear ratio
Maybe a gear set from the SLX BFS. They offer a 6 to 1 ratio. I have one. It has the clicker. The SLX BFS uses the same frame as the curado

BFS: Line Choice Isn't a Simple Thing to Figure Out
I feel like the odd one out. I use 4 lb mono or FC with Light rods. With UL I have been using 2 lb trilene XL and recently switched to Daiwa Samurai Fluoro. I also saw on digitaka that the JDM Fluoro comes in different ratings like 2.5, 3, and 3.5 lb I might try it out when I order my next reel. As long as you don't burn the knot 2 lb can handle a lot. I think I might be a bit of a thrill seeker because it's a huge rush when you hook a good size fish with 2 lb FC. 2 lb Daiwa Samurai Fluoro on a SS Air. I removed the pin for the drag clicker and I think it made the drag even smoother. But it could just be my imagination.

22 Shimano Bantam 150HG (JDM)
I use a 7'4 H LTB with a Bantam for similar baits. It works great for single hook reaction baits. It's buttery smooth while cranking all day. I went even slower with a 6 to 1 reel. I have a Zillion and Met too and would for sure take the Bantam for cranking all day.

New to floro on a baitcaster, need help.
How full do you have the spool? If you overfill the spool with centrifugal brakes and FC then the brakes don't work right. Try taking off a little bit of line and giving that a try. Nevermind, just read your last post.
