  1. I love the initial part of the bass hitting. The excitement of knowing something is on my line and I had no clue it was going to happen is exhilarating for. Only second best to landing it
  2. When I drop shot it’s to target fish that are neutral to let it hang in there face at the desired depth. I usually use my electronics (no FFS) to find them. For me I have to know I am pretty much on fish to throw it. At the very least I am on a very specific piece of structure. When I fish clear water smallies in shallow water on the river I will drop shot them staying back from where they are. when I do it in a lake I like to run slightly higher than what I am seeing and fish that area.
  3. I don’t own it. It has changed how I have had to fish though.
  4. @Koz it’s a body of water that can get you in trouble very quickly when you do not know it. That’s a haul from GA for sure. I saw Ike is signed up. I think he does it almost every year.
  5. Chatter baits and rattle traps.
  6. I have some 13 fishing ice rods and reels. Never used any of there other stuff. The ghost reel was very sought after a few years ago.
  7. @Ohioguy25 I do not run any kind of toothy fish protection because I do not run anything expensive. When I used small baits for musky I used a 6-9”124- 175# solid wire leader with no swivel. Which are literally the size of or smaller than the glide baits you are throwing.
  8. Awesome! Will boots be going on the Canoe with you?
  9. I cast aimlessly and pray.
  10. This is a yes/ no answer. Do I think there is skill to live bait fishing? Yes, I know some catfish guys who kill it and some who don’t. Do I think it everyone who does it is skilled? 100% not. you can also argue this with lures. it comes down to know where, when, and why.
  11. The biggest thing that you have to remember with top water is the fish are coming trying to explode and turn on it. A lot of times I think the fish miss times the opening of their mouth or the lunge to get it. When it’s a jig or bait under water they can get a better attack angle at it. It’s not a you thing. It’s the attack angle of the fish. Plus when a fish comes out of water it has the best chance of shaking hooks.
  12. A credit card with high limit just in case. You also forgot something extremely important…………..BEER!
  13. I enjoy using spinners. Sometimes they are hot sometimes they are not. I also do not catch 40 fish a day lol.
  14. You can never go wrong with hitting points. Which it seems like there is many. If there is access to deeper water even better on the point. There will be fish up in the slop too. Don’t over think it! Fish it like you would other bodies of water. Since it is bigger remember to fish it small.
  15. I just do basic stuff. Cranking drop shot ned rig and spinners Can’t tell you the name of most stuff I use anyway. Edit: I’ve been using a lot of 6th sense stuff.
  16. Was picking them up at blue marsh in drop shot.
  17. I’m not known around here for fishing lakes, largies or using my electronics to target fish. I did however cut my teeth using electronics to catch musky on lakes and in open water settings. No scope needed
  18. Had to beach it for a poop break for my River. I though man this looks like a pretty solid background
  19. Like woody said. YouTube is for of experts in their own minds. I do not watching welding videos because I am willing to bet none of those guys have ever passed destructive testing or ultrasound.
  20. @12poundbass no you aren’t. I run suffix 832. I tried power pro. Loud would tangle seemed to snap extremely easy. If power pro was the only braid on the market I would not run braid. I tried spider wire if it was my only option I’d use it. My favorite braid is cortland masterbraid but, I am too cheap for that.
  21. @ABU is overpriced a swimmer 175 is around the size I would go to a 130Fc leader. However with that style bait regardless of size I would run a solid steel leader to get the most action out of it.
  22. @Ohioguy25 100lb plus FC is heavy and has. Lot of drag. The steel is thinner and has less drag. That FC will ruin any action if a small bait.
