I try to go #1 with no one around just over the side. My theory is if you can see “it” you are looking way to hard. I do however make sure there is not a little kid or woman in sight. Not to worried about another grown man. We have all done it. i have only ever had to do an emergency #2 once while on the water. I always carry toilet paper. I went to an island and did work.

@gimruis welcome to PA musky fishing with FFS. You don’t have 2 100 bass days and boat 5 muskys in a weekend not doing it. @Spankey I’ve caught one musky since I’ve switched over to smallies in pa. Fishing the same areas I used to catch musky at. I do not buy for one bit they love smallie baits with seeing what I have. That’s all I ever used to hear from the bass heads though. I have not had the same fortunes I have been told.

@DitchPanda I have a dog that was a rescue. God only knows how much tormenting, abuse, neglect he went through. It took almost a year for him to feel at home with us. A year and half to not jump up everytime we touched him. I truly Believe he would be dead, returned or abused more if anyone else would have adopted him. He’s going to be a mess medically the rest of his life too. You do not abuse kids, women or animals. Any hell you face if you do is warranted.

I don’t know how I could have stomached finding this. I very well could have too.

@casts_by_fly after running a jet for a few years I’d be nervous as heck going back to a prop.

@TnRiver46 they are mostly Canadian anyway the state has nothing to do with it.

My dad has foot issues. They will go numb at times. I never treat him like a frail old man but, I do keep an eye on him when he moves around in my boat. He had no interest in running the foot pedal he is very content with just sitting on his butt seat at the back of the boat.

One of the famous areas I fish “rock view bridge” had a terrible and sick incident. A freak intentionally drowned a dog. There is a special place in hell for demented sickos like this. @Further North east of the susky fishes completely different than west. I can go out of state with much better results than I can fish here. It also wasn’t always that bad here. Again FFS change it. I used to average contact a fish a day and get 10 or so follows. That all dried up. There was weekends I’d boat 7. Got fed up with a few really bad years and have no interest in ever musky fishing PA again. Doesn’t even enter my mind. Like I said PA is not a destination musky area but, I have some of the best small mouth fishing in my back yard. Besides are you really musky fishing if you bass fish till to you see a musky on your FFS than pick up your musky rod?

@Further North I know a guy who averages 3 fish a trip……scoping he didn’t do that before FFS. PA lakes the weeds get sprayed. The fish will become open water roamers on bait fish. So due to electric only/ HP restrictions it’s very hard to troll long periods of time or I can’t run my motor. So It’s practically hand made for scoping. You also can’t factor in the western part of the state. That’s almost a completely different fishery. The hatchery is out there too. If I am going to drive 3.5-4 hours out that way I am going to drive 5.5 to stonewall Jackson.

@Woody B trackers are by no means bad boats. They are just more entry level. There are better boats out there just have to know exactly what to look for.

@Further North I know what I have personally witnessed here. PA musky fishing is a joke. No one makes trips to PA to musky fish but they do for SMB. There is a reason for that. I am confident I can go catch musky on your home body of water. I am also willing to bet you’d pull your hair out here.

FFS ruined musky fishing in PA. People make a joke out of lakes you’d be lucky to get one out of even trolling to 3 48” fish a day. They also tear up musky in the shallow susky with FFS. I retired from musky fishing and have no interest in it anymore unless I am going out of state for it. It’s a waste of time and money here.

Went to blue marsh yesterday. Water temp was almost 84 at 6AM. Got a few really shallow in the down timber and weeds. Tried out deeper in 7-15 foot along the deep dying weeds and breaks. No luck there. I am also by no means good at fishing blue marsh so others may have had much better success.

@DaubsNU1 I’d have a 20’ version of the same boat I had if it fit in the garage lol. Bigger motor and boat > FFS. I know I am openly against FFS but, if I was going to buy a new boat the boat size motor size and TM are what I would care about first. The rest of electronics second. It’s easier to upgrade electronics when you already have the boat you want.

I’d go with the biggest you can afford personally. 17’ is probably the smallest now.

Could it be bass rarely see our baits as food? That it’s all reaction strikes not due to hunger?

@Jig Man I use electrical tape on my spinning reels before I put the backing of mono on to give that extra bite on thr spool.

I will struggle unless we get a high water episode on the river to consolidate the fish again. When it’s summer and the water is low and hot the fish spread out vastly. The issue with a lot of PA lakes is they are a bathtub. Most lakes might as well be quarries the way they just drop. They aren’t natural so there is no mid lake structure. Just open deep water. The weeds get sprayed and eliminated for the most part. The only option then is to use FFS and cast at fish or use 2D and cast around the bait balls using that hoping you are on them.
