Favorite blade/pocket knife/multi-tool? What do you carry?
@TnRiver46 I feel like that about my Glock. At one time I did carry a knife a lot.

Had a pike break my line yesterday & lost a $150 glide bait. What can I do to my setup to prevent this in the future?
I would NOT use heavy FC I would opt for a tie able or solid steel leader. In the musky world for bass size baits we used smaller steel leaders for using a 100 or great FC kills the action of these smaller baits. I always bought stealth tackle leaders.

Grass vs weeds
@Texas Flood you had me snicker about 3 different times while reading this.

Gold Crankbaits
I can’t say I really throw gold but I’m not against it? I throw what I think looks good.

Bassmaster kayak series Susquehanna event
@FryDog62 we would need a couple inches more than likely.

It’s Tough Out There
It’s been tough here too. Getting out early and hoping for the best. Can see fish but are completely uninterested in baits and do not look to be in “feeding” areas

Bassmaster kayak series Susquehanna event
This event is in about 3 weeks. For the current forecast of heat and no rain I would expect it to be the bass master wading series. There should not be much boat traffic for these guys/gals to deal with which is good on their part. anyone here participating?

Legalities of putting a boat in public water.
In PA a creek/ stream cannot be owned. The creek bed can be owned. If you float down and do not touch bottom or other land you are fine. If you do you are then trespassing. So if you own property on either side you own the whole creek bed as well. If you only own one side you may own half that is not something I am sure of though.

Shimano Reel Help
I have 3 metanuims and love them for everything. Now this is coming off using tranx 151s. The Metanuims are smoother, cast better, quieter and seem to handle all size baits great. Even in wind do extremely well. I use the Xg and Hgs.

Launching/Loading Bass Boat - Beginner
@Craig P absolutely most guys would rather you admit you are inexperienced than act like you know it all.

Launching/Loading Bass Boat - Beginner
Here’s my two cents. I never get mad with someone who is struggling. Everyone is new at some point. No matter how many times you do it you’re human and we all mess up. what does tick me off is the ramp and dock area are not to prep. Take a bunch of stuff out of you boat and put it in your truck area. Do that away from this area. It should be pull up. Back down launch. Tie off park and get back to your boat and go fishing. Someone struggling to back or get the boat on the trailer is just lack of experience. Doing the things above is just rude. Slow is fast. Do not get so hung up on trying to do it as fast as you can. That’s when mistakes happen. If you don’t have time to do it slow and right the first time how did you have time to do it twice? Get in a routine. I rarely let someone help me. Not to be rude but, I have a routine. I want things done a certain way. The boat is my investment and I just end up double checking anything they do anyway.

How heavy of a rain will you fish in?
I won’t go out in rain.

Buying tackle
I usually buy stuff on sale. Repeats of stuff I already have for when I lose it. Although I am eyeing up another metanuim. That’s just because I am a freak about having all the same rods and reels.

Your shore/canoe/bass boat rankings
Bank: 0 canoe: 6 I’ve caught a lot of musky in a canoe. boat: 6 I’m nothing amazing. I just fish for fun and hope I put the puzzle pieces together.

Tracker pro 170 with jet motor
@TnRiver46 I would think you’d take pride in having the skill to be able to navigate water without busting stuff up. That’s just me though. Ott does look very solid and good on a jet. I haven’t seen anything in his videos that would make him a master though.

Tracker pro 170 with jet motor
@TnRiver46 I am not scared to hit stuff and I absolutely have and I will again. Telling people to treat their boat like a demo derby car isn’t advisable. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Tracker pro 170 with jet motor
@TnRiver46 your impeller and liner isn’t going to last. You are going to ruin your water pump but, go for it. When you ruin your impeller smash your grate you can’t get on plane or back to the ramp. I’m glad all your YouTube experience on this matter is showing. Not saying you can’t do this stuff it’s just not advisable. people including myself have went through an area that was shallow than beached it walked back and measured.

Tracker pro 170 with jet motor
@TnRiver46 yeah I can do that too. Doesn’t mean you’re impeller and liner is going to last. The 3” rule comes from the jet grate hangs down 2.5-3 inches below the boat. Which is what the poster would have. Ott has a custom made tunnel hull. So he won’t catch his grate. The hull will just slide. Again I have a tunnel and even if I slide across “wet gravel” I am going to suck up that gravel. Also his hull is at least .100 thick because it’s a grizzle. tracker hulls are .09 I think.

Hello from PA
I will gladly welcome another susky river rat aboard! how do you normally fish the susky? Bank/wade, boat, kayak?

Tracker pro 170 with jet motor
I had a tracker 160 with a 60/40 jet before the G3. Figure at rest fishing you’re looking the boat drafts around a foot. So at slow idle speed you’re looking about needing a foot off the bottom of your boat to run. If not you’ll end up sucking debris off the bottom. Then need to sharpen impellers and wear out your ring faster. To get on plane you are going to need 1.5-2ft of water under the boat on the safe side. On plane is where they shine. 6-8” all day safely. I drag my grate around 3” on plane. beware jets are VERY finicky. You suck up leafs, stick rocks in your grate you’re done. You’ll have to clean it out. If you do not have enough weight forward it will not plane out right. Both my TM batteries were moved up front behind the casting deck. The steering on them sucks. You’re going to have to be in the last 1,000RPM to run. if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Songs where the cover was better than original
@clayton86 I second this. hurt when Johnny cash covered it. NIN just didn’t give it the feel it needed.

What's your best bassin' skill? And your worst?
I think one of the things I do best is fish small. I see people passing by me 3-4 times in a couple hours. Trying to cover here there and every where. I tend to be more methodical. I usually only make one or two big moves per outing. Now there are some spots I pull up and fish 15 minutes because I know it’s an area that they fish will be there or they won’t. Most times I am picking apart an area ever nook and cranny I can. Worst: I am terrible in lakes. I think most of that has to do with our bathtubs filled with water that pretty much require FFS.

Smith Lake
@T-Billy I personally hate it. Again it’s legal so have at it. Lots of things in life that way no reason to complain. It’s just fishing for me.
