Flouro
I have shimano mastiff on my drop shot rod. Everything else I use braid for. I do think it’s pretty good stuff. I used sunline sniper before this.

Tough "catching" indicators
Anytime I think I am going to crush it I usually don’t.

Have you ever and if not, why not?
If you are fishing water like you are describing it’s private property. Unless you have permission you’ll be trespassing. I have yet to see an untouched spot on the susky.

Do you generally find Daiwa’s reels to be of inferior craftsmanship when compared to Shimano?
I’m a shimano guy but…… I would never hesitate to get a high end daiwa

Elite series Lake Champlain
As far as Ike goes he does give a lot back to the sport and I think his heart is in the right place. He is also highly competitive he basically gave away what 45k in entry fees this year? Yeah I’d be upset with my performance too. I guess I see it in a different light because I’d be the same way as him. Him not talking to anyone is better than blowing up at someone who doesn’t deserve it. How many times have any of us had a bad day at work and in collateral to that weren’t the nicest to someone else? They all pay to play so I don’t really agree with the they are professionals like an NFL or MLB star. You can talk to just about anyone and they know who Tom Brady is. You go outside of the small percent of people who actually care about “pro” fishing and nobody knows anyone other than maybe bill dance. As far as the boating accident I hate to say it but, things happen. When you do big long runs like those guys you can’t do it at slow no wake speed. They are fishing for a paycheck. He even said he was not doing 70mph like many have claimed. Even at 30mph he probably would have not saw that coming. The damage may not have been as extreme but that is all unknown as well.

Susky river rescue during high water
I just saw they are also searching for a missing kayaker since Saturday. They were in a creek he went under and never surfaced. My guess is they weren’t wearing a life jacket. Sadly, this is what happens when you can spend $200 at Walmart. Then go out on the water with no education and have no clue what you are getting into. What the answer to this is I have no clue. I do not think a boater safety course would cover what they need to know. It’s easy for us to say it’s all common sense.

Am I setting the hook wrong?
I set the hook like that fish owes me money. I don’t know how tight I run my drags. I do like them to slip when I set the hook on a snag though lol.

Susky river rescue during high water
@TnRiver46 I can’t say I have ever personally saw someone on a paddle board in the river. One simple reason if you fall off you’re hitting rocks.

Susky river rescue during high water
@TnRiver46 @livin2fish I don’t think anyone should be paddle boarding on that river ever. Much less that section which is rough and Rock ledge riddled. Than the height the river was at no one should have been on it period. I am one to push limits but, that is well past mine in my boat.

Susky river rescue during high water
Very very lucky that this was not a recovery. I know the area they were rescued around. That water is rough on a normal day. To give everyone an idea the river was between 13 and 14 feet. I fish this area between 3.5 and 8’ This means the water was well into the boat ramps parking lot. Not to mention all the debris, trees, trash, 55 gallon drums, you name it. I’m very glad everyone is safe. Link below. https://www.abc27.com/local-news/paddle-boarders-rescued-from-susquehanna/amp/

Seriously
My wife asked me one time if I really needed to buy another reel and if I even use the ones I have. I said well they all go with me everytime I take the boat out. I have 8 rod and reel combos for bass. On any given day I will use at least 5. I then asked her does she really need more purses and how many does she use in a day? She retreated from the conversation and never asked again. She does not really care what I buy as long as the bills are paid.

Sad Day's
I dread this day with my favorite fishing buddy. Actually pretty much my best friend. Because a dog is man’s best friend right? I am sorry for your loss. I used to think too oh it’s just a dog. Than I got river and I would move heaven, hell, and earth to make sure he is happy, healthy, and safe. Dogs touch our lives in ways that are indescribable. They aren’t just dogs they are family. Their memories and love are unmatched and unforgettable.

@Tennessee Boy so to sum up your long post. Yes, it’s a game changer with the right person and conditions. Am I out of context in saying that?

A Pro Angler Voices Concerns About FFS
@Woody B I’m not saying there is not skill. You can’t have this both ways though. YouTube whether for clicks or truth “ look how easy it is to catch bass with FFS.” Many many videos from pros to regular people trying to be influencers saying this. Than pros saying they cannot compete without it. So, what is it? Game changer you can’t compete with out that’s easier? Or is it well it’s really not that easy it just helps? Maybe for some it is extremely easy. For others it just gets them one or two more fish. I can say in the ice fishing world without using a flasher I wouldn’t catch much at all. I couldn’t imagine what FFS does.

A Pro Angler Voices Concerns About FFS
@gimruis the river was not that shallow they couldn’t have used FFS for the kayak tournament. People always beat stuff up on the river because that’s the kind of body of water it is. I do not know how many people utilized FFS. From what I saw/read they were all doing the typical top water behind grass bed fishing so didn’t really need it. I am going to go back to what I heard on a podcast….. everyone is pretty much correct when it comes to FFS. Is it a game changer? Yes. Does it promise you a limit? No. Does it eliminate water and use of knowledge? Yes will it make anyone be a pro? No. Does it take skill? Yes. If a DNR really wants to make a ruling on it and ban it if they see you with a transducer they can confiscate it and fine you. At least in PA that is how it goes. You would still have to get caught but, no one should think this cannot be a situation if left up to the states.
