  1. Mighty Max seems to have a good reputation frim all I have read. I bought a small Mughty Max agm sealed "wheel chair" battery about 9-10 years back for my grandaughters power wheels atv. The battery was 38 bucks shipped to my front door ! It has spent its entire life on a maintainer when not in use. After the electric toy was outgrown, that battery was used on my trolling motor for pond use, it also powers my 8' boom sprayer for my property, it has never failed me. To this day it works just like it did when it was new.
  2. Yes, they are not friendly when temps get down to 40 degrees !! If you fish in the really cold, you might rethink.
  3. Where your red box is....my Sylvan aluminum boat has two group 31 agm trolling batteries there. Never been an issue, my compartment is vented thru grills on the back side. My batteries are 75 lbs each. Been there since 1992 when the boat was built. An additional start and house battery each side at the stearn. Fuel tank in floor about where your two seats are located. Mine balances really well and handles a two ft chop quite nicely. Hope you get yours figered out....
  4. Everyone should experiment with where they place the extra weight with accessories, especially batteries !! One never knows for sure just where that optimal spot might be. On the boats that I have owned ( all V bottoms) I have had my best sucess by centering the extra weight rather than having it in the stearn, but...your boat/ hull style might be different, so try expermenting with placement....
  5. They dont use methanol in gasoline only ethanol, so no worries there.
  6. I recomend a one inch thick piece of closed cell foam rubber under your batteries as I have done. Stiff enough not to collapse yet gives a nice cushion under each battery. I run two group 31 agm deep cycle batteries and have no issues. My boat is a 16' Sylvan sea troller V bottom
  7. Been using rubber primer balls for 60 years, long before ethanol came out, no difference in life as long as you get a good one. I even add stabil and other fuel conditioners as I have done long before E10 came out. All I can say is my fuel systems are much cleaner with no yellow varnish buildup now, then they were 30 years ago. Never have I had an issue with E10 fuels, but then again, I follow the recomendations on E10 fuels.
  8. Whike your in there, it appears you have some connectuons with some crud on them. Take them apart and clean them, I use a small brass brush to make them shiney, add a dab of dialectric grease then tighten things back down fairly tight. Boat electrical connections grt alot of jostling around so they need to be clean and tight !! Loose connections can cause even more issues from intermitent connecting and sparks. Good luck...
  9. In all honesty, the rim size means little...tires come in different balloon sizes for the same rim diameter. It is very possible to have a 13" wheel with a large balloon size tire that could be the same circumference as the tire with a 14" wheel size. While all the afore posts were correct for safety reasons, the real issue here is getting tires with the same circumference no matter what the rim size might be. Just look at all the different size tires in 14 & 15" wheel sizes !! 13" & 14" tires can be the same. If you don't want to spend what is needed to be correct at least match the circumference of the tires. Most good tire dealers have a tire circumference chart for all the different tire sizes.
  10. True on a solid axle but trailer tires/ wheels are independent so, no pulling but will ride at an angle for sure.
  11. Unfortunately, I know just how fast a scalded cat can run...really fast !!
  12. Primer bulb is one place not to be cheap !! As you found out a cheap one can be a severe fire hazard. Is your boat catching on fire not worth 25 bucks?? Never saw a cheap one last more than a couple years so why take the chance ??
  13. No better feeling than paying off a bank note !!
  14. Some are not lucky and never figure it out, often there are numbers above or below their pictures!!
  15. Most title places have acess to market values on vehicles that require a title. The know when your sale price is way below fair market value. In my state they often contact the seller to confirm the selling price after the sale. The fines and penalties can be quite stiff. You need to cover all your tracks if you expect to get away with this.
  16. To all that have served " thank you for your service !!"
  17. Gotta have a few dings and paint chips, otherwise you will be worrying about that first one !! I always tell people when they get a new car/ truck, first thing to do is go to a parking lot and get a shopping cart and slam it into the side of your new vehicle !!! Now you wont have that worry anymore and can go out and enjoy the new vehicle!!!
  18. Never down people for experimenting or thinking outside the box...look back in history at all the things we would not have if someone wasn't tinkering !! Often someones tinkering might seem useless but it gives way to other ideas. While his article may not have been beneficial to me in my situation, doesn't mean it didn't help someone else or get someone thinking about another idea. I read all the tinkering stories I can find, some are corny, some crazy, some usefull and some funny, but at least it keeps my reading skills up to date !!
  19. A half mph is a big gain ?? To each his own, not condeming here....but loss if torgue and a .5 mph gain would not be worth anything to me, but that is just me. From my research, those moving to a three blade gained a bunch of torgue, better handling a lower speeds but a 1 mph loss at wot... Gues it all boils down to what you want or need !! Very interesting though...an airplane prop ??
  20. We have similiar taste...I downsized to a side console as well, great move, awesome boat !!
  21. Not at that price !!
  22. I have toys, but have been willing to work for what I want. When my kids were growing up and needed braces and other things, I worked three jobs for over 20 years. Never missed my kids games or school functions, and we did family things on weekends. If I wanted something toy related it didn't come from family expenses, it came from extra work, anyone can do it !!
  23. I just upgraded my boat last year...well actually downsized, but I found a boat with all the bells and whistles. Spent my first couple months getting things set up to my specs and figuring out how the new to me electronics worked. That took a while and while I may not be actually catching more fish, it has become more fun and actually less work as now most of my time on the water is by myself. Change can be good if we give it a chance !!
  24. When my AGM batteries go dead ( 4 yrs old now) I will replace them with Lifepo4 batteries as the prices are comming down and the quality is getting better, the poor battery makers are being forced out of business.
