Introduction to Bass boats
Wife and I bought a motorhome because of all rhe problems we had with motels/ hotels...being dirty, loud guests, lost reservations, overbooking and breakins in the parking lot. We really enjoyed the privacy of the motorhome. We rarely stayed in camp grounds, always clean, no breakins, no lost reservations...the few extra bucks were well worth it !! Unfortunately my wife became dissabeled and we sold it, but no good memories in any of our motel stays...

My 16' boat has rod lockers, wouldn't be without them, another reason I graduated up from kayaks...but to each his own...have no idea where I would put 8 rods on my old kayak !!!! Not sure I carry that many on my 16'.....

Or he has a higher medical payment for accidents, and his policy might cover any EPA fines or charges, depending on the area they might have more claims. Liability ins can make a big difference, just like auto ins, do you carry 25K..or 50K...or 100K...all the way up to 500k, can make big differences in premieums !! My sister lives in Indiana, we have simalar boats and coverage, but her state charges more than Ohio even thru the same company !! Today they often use credit scores to set ins rates.....not sure why, but it is what it is !!

That can depend on your area and the amount of coverage, boat value is only one part !! Then the EPA costs if your boat woukd happen to sink...many small polocies don't cover salvage fees and fines from EPA. Ins can vary a lot, it pays to compare apples to apples.

Oil Level
Try cleaning the outside of the plastic tank, when they get dirty it becomes very difficult to see thru. Had to do that on my Merc OB. As hard as I tried, I couldnt see the oil level....cleaned sight glass and tank....now it is very easy to see !!

Grass Ninja Blade vs Razor Blade
I have never had the need to try any of these, but just thinking...why not a couple small screws/ rivets to hold these blades on ??

Want to stock small pond with large mouth
We had two large ponds dug by the state just down the road for dirt for an overpass. We ask if rhey were going to stock it, the state said no way, according to the state biology guy said they will have fish in them within 5 years from birds carrying the eggs in there legs. Sure enough 5 years later there is a bunch of small bluegills and small bass !!

fastest boat you've ever seen
Many years back we were invite up to an inland lake where high performance drag type boats were popular. We were friends with a couple of the owners. My sisterinlaw was not a big boat fan but was convinced to go for a boat ride. She had just purchased an expensive pair of sun glasses on the way. I told her to look straight ahead and not turn her head while running at speed. Sure enough, at about 75-80 mph she turned to look at something....those expensive sunglasses were sucked off her face and dissappeared. A friend had pictures of all her face wrinkles while at speed. Fun day !!

Battery?
Or, if you have the room, get a house battery to run accessories !! On my boat, I have a dedicated start only battery, and then a group 31 house battery for all accessories....then two group 31 batteries for the trolling motor !! Then always carry a set of jumper cables just in case. Never wirhout power where needed.

Trolling motor security
Do whatever you can to make it difficult to steal, keep good insurance coverage, park in well lit areas, many motels have security cameras, park in sight of those cameras. Most motel owners can show you where to park to get the best pictures, at least they did for me when I was traveling with ATV's....

Trolling Battery
Regular use and recharging of a battery is actually better for it !! Just leaving it sit, even though fully charged will shorten its life !!

175 Pro XS lower unit fluid change
Being new, I would want it changed after a breakin just to be sure no foreign materials were left behind....then changed at the end of each season !!

fastest boat you've ever seen
They get that speed by lifting out of the water, many high speed boats just have a couple tiny spots and a prop touching the water....no wake except for prop wash..

Trolling Battery
All my boat batteries are 4 yrs old, just starting to show signs of wear..

National Safe Boating Week ~
Don't know about cheap, but the rest is right on !! Unfortunately, todays society believes bad things only happen to other people !! Just ask some of these newer boaters and they will tell you " I dont need to wear those because I dont do stupid things".......

what are your CA carb/epa compliant outboard motor recommendations?
Might be cheaper to move to a more user friendly state !!

Just Ordered a Set of Boat Trailer Steps ~
According to my wife, these " golden" years just means that is the color of our urine !!

Just Ordered a Set of Boat Trailer Steps ~
My boat is mostly open, a side console model, but did the same with my cuddy cabin model. Just curious why the steps were needed I guess, and whether it is something I should consider...

36 Fortrex steering funny.
Last year bought a boat with a MK power drive with remote control..." Awesome"....never will go back to a foot pedal !! Push button control/ steering from anywhere within range of the remote !!

Just Ordered a Set of Boat Trailer Steps ~
I guess I am lucky as all the ramps I use have docks along side. There are many times I have launched and retrieved without one, but that was in my younger days! At 73, I choose ramps with docks and after latching the winch strap, I just step off onto the dock. Are these steps needed due to a lack of a dock ??

Road trip prep
Instead of AAA look at your own ins company, mine has far better coverage, longer towing, even all the way home if needed... Andvthe cost is about 1/4 that of AAA. Had triple A for many years, until I finally needed them one day...great dissapointment!!

36 Fortrex steering funny.
Not sure about your particuler model, but a few years back I had a minn kota cable drive foot pedal that acted weird at different speeds. Was told it was the torque feedback thru the steering cable. Pushing on the pedal operated a cable drive mechanism and the torque created by power to the motor fed back thru the cable... No idea if this is your problem, but might be food for thought.
