One of the best feelings in fishing

Recommended Posts

Today I was able to pay off my loan in full. I now own my boat outright, no more payments ( except for gas, insurance, maintenance, gear etc😄).

I’ve owned several nice fishing boats from brand new over the years, but always had payments on them until I sold them to change boats. This one is gonna be staying with me for some time, as I both love it for what I need currently, and I also don’t want to pay the ridiculous prices out there for a brand new one. She’s only 6 years old, and still just as shiny as the day I brought it home, so I’m gonna enjoy my first “free” fishing trip out of it this weekend, and hopefully many more to come, with family and friends, or all by myself!

Congrats! It is a great feeling. I have a plan set up for how fast I want to pay my next boat off. I plan on that being my boat for a long long time. It’s always a relief when you can say it’s finally yours.

Actually it was the tractor monkey!
Got a new John Deere heading my way this week. Now tractor attachments, that’s gonna be an expensive monkey 😳

I truly love hearing about others who worked hard to pay off a note and now can enjoy that item without the pressure of have to make a monthly payment.

I thought you were going to talk about being able to enjoy the time spent with the one on the front deck.  For me, the boat was only the vehicle that let me enjoy the times had with my dad, son and granddaughter.  Nothing like seeing your eight year old son catch catch his first 8 pound bass and at 14, catch his first 10-pound bass and the enjoyment he had in all those trips doing that.  Then to have a granddaughter that truly loved to bass fish and could cast a Shimano Curado bait caster better at eight years old than most grown men, and would have lived on the water if able.  Then as my dad got older, I made every effort I could to take him every other weekend, and on bream fishing trip on the St. Johns River twice a year.   The kids grew up and made their own lives, my dad is now fishing in heaven and I totally lost interest after he passed.  It took me five years of maintaining a 20ft Javelin bass boat and not putting it in the water but a couple of times during then to figure out I really didn't care to go by myself and get rid of that boat.  I bought that boat simply because it was a dual console, big and roomy enough for my dad and keep him out of the wind while cruising down the lake.  My pleasure was enjoying watching those with me enjoying their fishing trips.  I still have my 14' jon boat, just in case I take a notion to go, but it has been sitting 18 months now without being put in the water.  I've pretty much given my pontoon boat to my granddaughter so they can enjoy the lake with their kids and I go with them from time to time.

Needless to say, it was those with me that I enjoyed and not the boat or fishing, the boat meant nothing without those that were with me in it.

@Way2slow, there’s definitely that aspect of it as well. Nothing better than sharing a day on the water with family or friends, and I have several that have never had a nice, fairly new fishing boat, so I always enjoy giving them a good time and memory on the water, but for me there’s also the times where I need to be alone, to just decompress and forget about work, and life’s other “issues” that we all deal with from day to day.

You got that right….. I was lucky when I got mine, he was moving, I was just going to buy the tractor. He said “it’s all got to go” gave me a price I couldn’t resist. Got bush hog, finish mower and , box blade with trailer to haul it all, at a reasonable price.
What size tractor did ya get?

3038, with a blower, and a brush hog. Gonna get pallet forks later this fall for moving skids of stuff around, and a tiller in the spring.  We have 25 acres, half of that is fields that I want to cut, and eventually we want to start a cut flower farm so I’ll need to till up some areas.
