  1. I use the bps and Cabela's ones. I'm far from a pro though. Also I throw on mono as I do most things. They vibrate hard so no issue feeling it. I've got a giant steelshad xl I'm waiting for the right time to throw. Not sure when that will be but probably over deep water. I'm definitely getting more into blade baits this year. So far I fish them like a lipless but I'll also say @AlabamaSpothunter seems to be a wizard with these so watch his posts and videos to learn.. He had some great ones last year that inspired me to buy my first collection of baits.

    Are you on Hyco?
  3. I've never seen a setup I wouldn't throw some sort of a jig at. Which jig and how to present it is the question

I set up a game camera facing the big tree they're working on destroying. At least I should get a good photo of them to see what we're dealing with. Does anyone know if urine would deter them? I know it deters coyotes, not sure what else. I have boys, so getting urine on a tree is easy...

My 7 year old has been begging for a white German shepherd for about a year. Beautiful animals. Love the photos!
  6. Had a cold NC day with wind so didn't want to mess with the kayak. Hit up @Pat Brown to see if he wanted to try a new pond with me at a city park. Ended up getting our families together which was fun! We explored the ponds which feed each other in a chain. Pretty cool place with a variety of cover. I ended up deciding to try a blade bait as a few of you have inspired me but I'd never thrown one. I had a pretty small chartreuse one and threw it for an hour. Slow day and I varies the retrieve, ended up catching one good one on it. Both pics are same fish. Felt good to catch one on a new bait in a new place. Now I want to try a larger one on the lake. Looking forward to further exploring these ponds and possibly adding to our rotation of pressured ponds with a few big fish in them!
  7. I told you where to throw it and what was going to happen. You had one job... 😎
  8. My clients (healthcare) are definitely feeling pressure, especially in elective and cash pay sectors of business. Many patients pinching pennies who were blowing cash a year ago.
  9. Can getting arrested be click bait? Interested to learn more but I'm sure this only helps his YouTube.
  10. @Koz Santee Cooper isn't too far from us, maybe we can do member meet up sometime with a few of us if you end up in the area
  11. As usual, @Catt is giving away all the juice On that note, I'm pumped to try my new Siebert megladon 1 oz jig. I'm not planning to throw it anywhere near grass, but I am planning to get a double digit on a reaction strike. I'm pretty excited to throw it and see if there are any takers out there!
  12. I have shopped at BPS my entire life. I mean, why is no one mentioning the aquarium? I have to stop any time I pass one and go see what's on sale, and just watch the fish in the tank. These days most of my purchases are online, and I do still order from BPS regularly but usually from the bargain bin (received a new President XT from them last week on a great black friday sale). But if I'm driving by one, especially with my children, we're going inside. It's nostalgic to me, and the kids get pumped about the taxidermy and the aquarium. These days though, Academy does the most damage to my wallet because it's 3 minutes from my office, and they send me seductive emails sometimes.
  13. I received my ABU order today from black friday. They are very slow processing as someone else said, the entire pure fishing family is slow. But the deal was great so it was worth the wait!
  14. @Delaware Valley Tackle they are a forum sponsor.
  15. With tracks, the accessory options are wide open. I got a really great cup holder that doubles as a used lure holder, probably my most used addition to my kayak last year and it was cheap (<$20). Mine is the Scotty 311, but there are many other brands and variations. That lip around the edge is super useful though if you're like me and like to hang lures to dry out prior to repacking them. I throw used plastics in the bottom, sit my water bottle on those, and hang lures on the edge. I know you don't want to go electronic, but just hypothetically 😎... the switchblade transducer mount would work great on that canoe if your track is on the edge which it looks like there is space for. Then you could throw even a minimal unit on there to check depth and water temp if nothing else. Enjoy your new setup, I know you'll have a ton of fun in it and catch thousands of fish next year that I'll be drooling over!
  16. Aeropress is fun. I don't use it often, but it makes a VERY smooth cup if done correctly. If you want to really go down a rabbit hole, look at the aeropress competitions online and all the different very specific recipes people use. I did prefer the upside down method to the normal one, and also did think it mattered to get the water temp just right for the best flavor. You can see why I don't do it much, it's like a science project. But very tasty.
  17. Keep an eye out for used stuff as well. Or open box, unused. I've had decent luck on eBay, if you go with a highly rated seller it should be fine. Or buy through the yard sale on this site. A good quality reel can be cleaned up/repaired if needed in many cases.
  18. If you are just looking for a quality, small frame reel, like a black max alternative check out the daiwa cc80. I have normal man hands and feel like the feel like it's a small reel. You can probably palm one at a local store just check inventory online.
  19. You didn't try the mata? Remind me to show you one when you come to NC. Pretty cool.
  20. Fish would jump into the kayak. Obviously. Probably because of the Cologne and stripes combo
  21. Some cool lighting. I'm thinking color adjustable LED rope lighting around the floor or fence. Definitely a good anchor system and push pole. I've had to get out and push a pontoon numerous times. Pole is preferred!
  22. He sells skirts separately I believe if you want to stock up. Send him an email if you have questions he's great to work with.
  23. Let us know! I think Abu rods are a touch soft sometimes but MH on spinning isn't my first or second choice. That'd be a really nice rod to let a coangler borrow who isn't comfortable with casting gear so it can serve a purpose if you want to use it that way.

No dogs in area unless you count coyote. I'll probably just call the WRC and see if they'll take care of it. Found more damage today that was brand new. Aggravating.

They don't have a dam, I can't figure out where they're living. I'm going to have to follow feeder creeks to see if I find anything. I chatted with neighbor farm and they practically begged me to shoot them so it sounds like I've got community support. Guess it's time for an adventure.
