  1. I'd throw and black and blue grass jig and hit the water. If the water isn't clear the bass see more contrast then detail and I think color is overrated. Profile matters more in that setup. If you shop like me.. get the grass jig and shot caller in several sizes and colors and then hit the water. Don't over think it. If I get a favorite, a tree fish eats it very fast.
  2. Fresh roasted beans is more important to me than brand. I like fresh roasted within 2 weeks of roast date. I use a burr grinder and my preferred brewing method is pour over but I normally use a pot for speed, but still grind fresh for that too. Counter culture is definitely my favorite big brand! I've been to their cupping event, pretty cool.

Yikes. They started on trees that size but abandoned them on my land. They generally seem to like 3-6" stuff here but are eating on a couple larger ones

Yes I think I’m legally free to handle as needed. I guess I can do the wrc thing, I’m more inclined to handle my stuff on my own than call for help. Regarding something quieter, it’s possible but expensive. I’m not worried about noise, and it’s a wooded area so it’ll be in shotgun range. They’re actively working on a big tree. Wonder if I can spray something to get them to leave the area.

My new house is by the lake, and with it came some beaver activity. I’m not a fan of them killing my trees. Several have healed, but several have fallen. Anyway, anyone have experience eradicating them by any means necessary? I’m open minded and creative. And have a shotgun of course.
  6. Quick shout out. Just received my order, awesome as usual! Love the blemished option as well, great way to try out random new things. I can’t wait to try some of these out, hopefully this weekend! I’m especially excited to try out my new custom Spinnerbait. great work @Siebert Outdoors, hope the sale is going great and merry Christmas early to ya! So many options it’d be hard to know where to start. What type of jig fishing do you like? Are you fishing wood, grass, etc? Swimming it or soaking it? I’d say just get a bunch of stuff to try lol. I like swim jigs and brush jigs and sniper finesse jigs. Colors all work at the right time and place. Bait monkey says just try a lot. 😎He has good sampler deals too if you have trouble deciding.
  7. Never heard of it, but I’m always down to try something new!
  8. All our lakes have great bass in my opinion. Just gotta figure out what’s on the menu and where the meal is happening.
  9. Trilene xl casts really well and is smooth. Big game always on shelf. Also trying bps excel, got a great deal so it’s on shelf imagine that.
  10. Our winter in nc was this week. Not sure if spring will be here to stay next week or not. So far this week since I was too cold to fish, I just bought a bunch of stuff on sale. If it comes in in time, I will spend the rest of my winter putting line on my new rods and organizing tackle. If we get a really bad winter defined as more than three weeks of below freezing temps than I may take apart some reels and try to clean them. Most of my reels are cheap and I just replace them though.
  11. I keep a Gerber dime on my keys. Inexpensive and has held up well. Every time I find a good sale I get another in case I lose it in security somewhere. I use this tool almost daily for something it seems, love the bottle opener and package opener specifically in such a small tool.
  12. I’ve got several of these inbound. Too good of a deal to pass up, they were 50% plus the 20%. Not sure my reel purchases are keeping up with rod purchases now lol
  13. I got a bottle of basil Hayden dark rye. Didn't realize it had port in the blend somehow. Very different. Sweet. Terrible old fashioned, could be good Manhattan I think or just on the rocks. Somehow I always come back to either bullet or knob Creek.
  14. Broke an ugly stick in car door. That's the only one I recall ever breaking. I've had several times one should have broken but didn't. They're generally pretty tough
  15. Hoping to get my wife to fish with me more this year. She started enjoying it some last year and since she loves kayaking I hope we can go out together much more frequently. Just need a baby sitter.. Also catch more and bigger fish. Of course. And maybe learn blade bait. Maybe.
  16. I also got that airdx combo. Looking forward to trying it. My thought process was similar to yours. I haven't decided whether to post everything I bought yet. Don't want to embarrass myself
  17. This. Twin tail, trim it on either end as needed. These are super versatile trailers I use a ton in many applications
  18. I've learned a lot in the last year. I now have multiple jig setups. Swim jigs for open water I throw on 14 lb mono. My retrieve is to keep them moving, but I test different parts of the water column as well as different retrieves as far as popping, shaking, pausing, etc. Brush jigs I like braid as in usually throwing into wood lay down and such. I tend to let these chill and do very little movement. My retrieve is closer to Catt on this one. I've yet to dial in the horizontal retrieve but have been trying it. Football jigs I use 17-20 lb mono. Throwing around rock or whatever else. I'm a mono fan and it's my default for most things. Retrieve varies but usually some hopping involved. There is no one right way. I've learned to experiment and try new things, pay attention so when you get bit you can repeat what you did and also analyze why they bit that time. Every trip out it seems they want something different, sometime a subtle tweak, sometimes a total change..I love jig fishing!
  19. Would love to meet up some time! I live on Macintosh now so if you're on Guilford side I may have already seen you from a distance.. shoot me a pm next time you're in the area! Also don't over look the Greensboro city lakes right around you. They fish different than mackintosh and are slightly smaller. I like to mix it up.
  20. I bought a lot. Still buying. Took the opportunity to upgrade a lot of rods where I had worn out, entry level gear. And refilled my jig supply for the winter. Looking forward to trying several things from @Siebert Outdoors that I haven't tried before, many recommended by @Pat Brown who I think may be related to the bait monkey or at least on payroll 😎
  21. I shot it at dusk, dark enough where I couldn't see my targets well any more, and the flash didn't even register with me. I'm sure there are guns out there throwing a fireball but this isn't one of them. It's very manageable. Also, not currently my bedside gun until I get more comfortable. I've only put about 250 through it so far.
  22. Has anyone tried any of these? I'm wondering how they compare to Veritas, which I'm a fan of. Looks like pro series rods retail for 199 (based on pricing should be better than veritas) but are currently on massive sale so I'm thinking of trying the Justin Lucas shaky head and the bobby lane swim jig rods as those are 2 staple presentations for me, but I need someone to talk me out of it because my budget is beyond blown right now.
  23. Abu sale going right now, they have a veritas frog rod that comes out to $55 after coupons... I can't imagine a better deal than that.
  24. This weekend I’ve been restoring an old DR wood chipper that’s about 20 yrs old. Finished this afternoon, the carb was all jacked up. I’m pretty proud because I’ve never done carb work and figured it all out. It went from not cranking to starting right up and purring. Tomorrow I’m hitting the woods to see how it works under heavy load, clearing my bank fishing area. @DaubsNU1 nice! I have a metal building that’s similar, I’ve built an office and man cave in it. Really want to do a loft but I’m a little intimidated by that project.
  25. I ended up getting the shield plus performance center with a red dot site. Shot it without the site the first time, just with the fiber optics, and it's a tack driver. Love it. Going to site in the RDS this afternoon and see if I can get comfortable with it. If not I'll just sell that on eBay.
