  1. Look at the third post down by Daniel in this thread. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1201274289 Leave you non functioning bow light in place because it looks nice. Keep the battery powered one below deck for when you need one that works.
  2. Sunday morning I had an hour to spare and just shore fished at a local pond. 100 casts and 2 bass on casts 23 and 24. Then the clouds broke and the cold clear blue sky shown. No more fish after that. alger, I would have thought the weather on Saturday was great for fishing. It was during the leading edge of a front before it got cold. Maybe not ideal to look at and stay dry, but good fishing? ?
  3. That reminds me of a sceen from Glen Lau's Bigmouth forever.
  4. Yes. I think the Avid is compariable to the crucial or better. But that Loomis IMX that Pfluemis mentioned is a better rod still.
  5. Suffix. Samuria is suposed to be the best, but I can't justify the price... yet.
  6. You could keep buying cheap jon boats, remodign, and selling for a profit. It's not a new job, but a second job.
  7. I use braid with 10 ft of floro leader and a Medium Moderate rod to absorb the shock and prevent treble tear out. If you have a stiff rod (MF or MHF) then slow play and loose drag can help compensate.
  8. I am a goat lover and I caught 2 fish this morning. 8-)
  9. I like my Shimano Crucial, but i havent tried any other rods to say its the best.
  10. For $20 you can be a kid again. http://www.omegamarketplace.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=92
  11. I had the opposite experience with my crucial at BPS. Walked in with broken tip and no receipt. Walked out with a new rod. I didn't even do a song and dance for them.
  12. I use suffix braid with a floro leader on spinning gear for everything. The braid cast farther and has les line twist or memory problems. It is also much more sensitive. The floro leader is to reduce visibility. In techniques that a stretchier line would be better I use a softer rod. Suffix handles better than power pro for me. I am addicted to the castability and sensitivity of braid and can't use anything else. I do have problems with the floro leader sinking when I use stationary top water bait or if there is any above a bobber when I am using live bait. It creates a bow in the line and complicates the hook set. Despite having the latest and greatest equipment I am still not a good fisherman and I have never hit a hole in one.
  13. I am curious too. Only two people have tried it? The bait monkey is slacking. Robert, It sounds like you are saying it is smoother than suffix braid. Does this mean it's quieter through the eyelets too?
  14. I tried 20#. More iron than silk.
  15. Yes you want an automatic bilge pump. It should be in the lowest spot in side your boat. Usually next to the drain plug. While through hull is more professional looking it is not any better functioning and requires more work. I went up and over the transom next to the motor for mine. Captain obvious wanted me to ad, if you do go trough hull make sure your through spot is above the water line. Way above the waterline. The bilge pump will have 3 wires. Neg, Pos switched, Pos Automatic. Hook the Neg to the Neg on the battery. Hook the Pos auto to the Pos on the battery. You can stop there or you can wire in a switch for the manual control of the bilge. For running lights the lowest maintenance you can get is the battery powered clamp on ones. This may look to jury rigged for you though. If so then you will probably have to run wires from your battery to the bow and stern with a switch on each or one switch for both. There are a few tricks to running wires for longevity, maintenance free, professional looking. 1. Get a big enough wire for the job. 2. Hide them. 3. The parts that can't be hidden should run straight and or follow some structure of the boat. Think coloring within the lines. 4. Secure them well enough that they don't jiggle out into view. Don't for get you don't want to redo this so that means that they should not jiggle out for ten + years. Zip ties, screws, epoxy, liquid nails, and no duct tape. Now I still haven't addresses where to put your switches. You are on your own for now. Steps 1, 2, 3, and 4 should take about 6+ hours if you include a 1 hour trip to the hardware store. Or you can get the battery powered light and leve it below deck out of site until you need it.
  16. You guys just reminded me of one of my bonehead maneuvers. Drill out the rattles, glue it shut, and then realize without the rattle weight... it floats. Thanks for all the options. I would rather spend the $5 extra than another hour in the garage.
  17. Nice write up OldGuy. The only thing I would like to add is once your line is twisted and giving you problems cut the lure off and troll the entire line behind the boat for a few minutes then reel it back in. This will allow the line to untwist.
  18. Briaded line will greatly decrease your line twists, but ther e are trade offs.
  19. Thanks guys. Hopefully I can accommodate two people on the for sale forum now.
  20. I am selling a rod and reel and don't have time to go by the post office. Dose anyone know how much shipping costs for a rod to one address and a reel to a different address. I already have the box and tube I just need to know postage to include in the sale prices. Thanks in advance.
  21. I sank an orange tree in effort to create bass habitat. Not knowing any better I sank it 200 yards from the nearest cover / structure that holds bass so it is more like an oasis in the desert. A bass might hang there for a rest, but he won't make a home out of it. Results... I haven't caught a thing.
  22. Acadia rods. A few people said they were a good value and a few people said you get what you pay for. The ones who said you get what you pay for had never tried the rod so I took a chance. Well you get what you pay for. The P series is worth $35
  23. That must be why the 2 lb is just 2 strands loosly wound. :-?
  24. I had heard it is a less visible type of braid. I use braid with a floro leader for everything. Thought maybe I could eliminate the leader. What application is Fireline suited for? Isn't Fireline braid?
