What Do You Throw Your Deep Divers On

Featured Replies

As the title says, cheers!

Really like the Shimano Crucial crank bait rods.  Ducketts make a fine CB rod also.  5.4:1 gear ratio or slower.  I have a Lews TP, a BB1, and a BPS PQ.  The new Curados are nice as well if you can find one.

With the same thing I throw everything, I don't have a dedicated crankbait rod. The catch is to back down your drag.

Mostly with a BPS 7'6" MH Crankin' Stick / PQ 4.7 that is good up to 1.5oz. I also have a Legend Extreme 7'2" MH-M / CTE-100GT that could handle that duty up to 1oz.

BPS Crankin' Sticks.

My deep cranking set-up is a 7'6"Browning Boron Matrix MH rod paired with a Daiwa Advantage 6.3:1 or an Exceller 4.9:1 reel.  Cranking is the only time I'll use flourocarbon and for the deep stuff I like 12lb. as I don't feel I loose as much feed back as I do with 10lb.

I have 2 custom 7'10" MH glass crankin rods made by Scott Dobbins at Tigerodz. Sick rods with awesome pricing! I also use a Shimano Curado 200E5 on both.

Abu Garcia 7'6" Mh Veritas winch, with an Abu Garcia Orra Winch spooled up with 20lb braid, fluorocarbon leaders if necessary.

7ft Cumara heavy medium fast crankin rod, aldebaran mg 5:8, Sufix Seige 12lb mono

1st choice: Team Daiwa Light& Tough rod, 7' heavy power, regular action, tuned up 6.3:1 Zillion, 14lb test Sunline Supernatural mono.

2nd choice: Dobyns Champion, 7'6" H-F, 6.3:1 Zillion 50th, same line.

I use a Custom St Croix Extreme 7'2" MHM rod with a Super Tuned Lew's Team Gold 6.4:1 on 30 lbs. Sufix 832.

Really big 20+ and dredges I throw on an older St. Croix Avid 6"10" MHF T with a Super Tuned Lew's Super Duty 5.4:1, some Bass duties on a few lakes known for big fish, but mostly Northern Pike duty.
