Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

I'll be honest it's not super tough to catch a 4-5 pounder right now. However in a few weeks it will be much tougher.

high 50s in the morning over the last week. Keep in mind, these are mostly small eutrophic inland lakes.

It gets better in the fall when you can whack 5 tanks at a time. #23pounds

Couple nice ones from last week. Caught these all day (about 20 total) the largest went almost 4 lbs:

Felt him hit the squarebill a couple times and figured I was hitting something underwater. Eventually he caught it on the bottom lip. I think we were both a little surprised to say the least.

CONGRATS!!!! AJ , MAN IF YOU WERE TOURNEY FISHING THIS YEAR I don't see anyone beating you with those hogs you been hauling in

  • Super User

Thank You Sir ~

But you know how it goes - if I were tournament fishing, I'd probably be a dink magnet or someone else would catch them . . . . .

Got on a few post spawners today on a local reservoir, caught them in water willows on a frog and flipping a jig, fun stuff! A school of bass came up chasing shad in open water and the only bait I had tied up that was even close to something one would throw in that situation was the frog, and on my first cast where the fish had been breaking, one actually ate the darn thing! Definitely a first for me and I have spent a lot of time on schooling bass.

Some Monday night local tournament fun! 5lb gap between the other 11 boats and myself, had a blast and as of now I'm out of the red and into the black for local tournaments. (not that I actually think I can do anything but lose money by fishing them :laugh5:)

Some of the better green and brown fish from my 2 days of fishing this past week. Most were on either my homemade finesse jigs, or homemade micro jigs. One of the smallmouth was on a Ned rig, one largemouth was on a Whopper Plopper 90. Both days were great days, the kind of days where you're surprised when you make a cast and don't get a bite.

man, you guys were killing them! I want to know where the kitchen sink is? I seen everything else laying out on the boat :headscratch:,

That's what happens when I'm junk fishing. The first lake we were on has about equal numbers of largemouth and smallmouth and they can be caught in 30' on a drop shot, a foot of water on a toowater, flipping grass or laydowns, and everythingin between. I caught a fish on every rod I had out except my swimbait rod that had the big rat on it though.

Took the boat out a second time to a new to me lake (Greenwood Lake NJ/NY.. yes it's split in half by these 2) The most bassy looking lake. Holds smallmouth, largemouth, Muskies, Pike, lake trout, and walleye... mangaged to catch a measely hand size  whiper or white perch. Wasn't even worth taking a picture of.  Got soaked in a rain storm when it wasn't supposed to rain... didn't bring my rain gear. This was more of a getting to know my boat, and backing up the trailer practice trip more than anything so it was a good day.
