One of a 4 I caught this past weekend. This one hit that buzz bait like a 10 pounder.. caught me by surprise.

 

I had a guide trip Thursday and put the guys on lots of nice fish. One of the guys broke his PB smallmouth twice. In my attempt to avoid catching "their fish", I was fishing a Popping Pad Crasher and managed my first frog smallmouth of the year after a couple hits and misses.

 

Friday was the hunt for a giant, which went terribly, but at least the PPC was getting smashed by the bucks anytime we could find a ball of fry.

5" hard body swimbait... Got her to the bank to see one point of one treble in her ! Made my weekend 

Falcon treated us pretty good this weekend:

Day 1

9.1 lber on a 6XD

25 inches long and 17.5 was the girth!

Day 2 was pretty tough, nothing worth taking a picture over.

 

Day 3 gave us a couple of studs!

 

 

 

 

broke my pb on the same holiday weekend a year ago. 5.5 lb, with a strike king burner in the shallowest of waters. i basically cast  parallel to the bank.

congrats! on the new PB.  if this is a streak, i'll bet I know where you are going to be the same time next year!

 

Well I don't have any good fish pictures but my partner and I won again on the local reservoir this evening, had a 4lb margin of victory this time. Just the confidence boost I needed before I head to Lay Lake Alabama on Sunday for the B.A.S.S. College Wild Card!

Wish I'd known this thread existed, would've posted sooner. This is not my PB but very close to it. Still trying to break 10 lbs. This girl weighed 9'4" and was just at 24" in length. Caught her last Saturday on a 6th Sense shallow crank. 

Two words....drop shot. Must have caught 60 fish today. Some were dinks but these weren't.

Wow! Bet that was fun to catch!

This month I will be taking two junior anglers from my old high school team to their National Championship in Tennessee (sort of paying it forward I guess). I took one of them out on Friday for a little fishing because all experience is good practice! He skipped out on field day to go fish, kid has his priorities straight

So I took the kids fishing today. 77° sunny bluebird skies. Slight stain to the water. Nothing was working. So instead of bass I figured we could try for a reaction bite from the local chain pickerol. I cast once with a 1/4oz red double silver blade spinner and caught this. A 14" rainbow trout. 

Worst part is I hate catching trout because they are too fragile. I don't eat them so I always have to find someone to give them to.

Also, at about 2:24 ish there are some big birds being harassed by a little bird.

Probably a mockingbird, blue jay, or red-wing blackbird. They all get pretty defensive about their nesting areas this time of year. 

They were really munching the frogs yesterday. This one ate a Stanley Ribbet about 3 feet from shore. The blowup splashed water on me and nearly gave me a heart attack.

had a decent past three evenings, fished about 2 to 3 hrs. each evening. caught 29 first night  7 second one, and an even dozen this evening, including this fat girl. they still are right on the bank here in southern Indiana. that's all my back could take , I give!

Not very big but I checked two things off my list of new lures to catch bass with!

We definitely have our work cut out for us at Lay Lake. Fished from 6am to 2pm (storms pushed us off the lake early) and caught 6 bass, all between 11 and 11:30. Managed to catch every non-bass critter out there too. Changing it up tomorrow, we'll see how it goes. Have been hearing it is tough fishing right now.

That's a monster flathead! Nice job.

As much fun as those big flatheads are, they can suck up some time..
