Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

@Team9nine   Way to go brother!    What a giant, and beautiful fish!

@Aaron_H   Thanks for the kind words friend!   She sure did put on a great show.

I have no doubt you'll get that big prespawn girl, you got plenty of experience with those big girls as we've seen in the past in this thread.    I predict she'll come on a jerkbait if history is a good judge 😎

Stay strong my Canuck and Yankee friends.......contrary to what Punxsutawney Phil recently forecasted, Spring will come sooner than later, and a new PB is waiting for each and every one of you!

Those BIG Southern bass are keeping us warm. Congrats, @Team9nine, on your Megasaurus!

FWIW, 12" to 22" of snow is forecast for next week, but everyday is longer and it won't last.

I got my unicorn today. A lot of close calls, but only 2 bites today. She bit a MB 110 FX late under cloudy skies just as sprinkles were moving in. Went 8.20 on the Rapala and 8-1/4 on the Chatillon. Water already warmed up to 55 degrees, but I’m sure that’s just surface. A good 4 days or more of rain next week will probably change everything.

I appreciate the kind words, a big one on a jerkbait in the coming weeks would put a big smile on my face, for sure. Lipless and bladed jig are strong contenders, as well.

Edit: This Chatter Bait to bladed jig auto correct thing is super weird.

@T-Billy wrote this months ago in a different thread. I like it so much that I'm reposting it:

I love those bog pics. Looks like my idea of Heaven.  Streets of gold and a mansion on a hill don't interest me. A dirt road leading to a cabin on the shore of a quiet lake on the other hand...

Sacked up a bit over 21lbs for a nice day.

The 6.5 came on the Deps MIDST 1/4oz Drift Fry combo.....then the other 4 fish that made the bag were between 3.5-4lbs and all came on the spinnerbait.   If I'm catching them on a spinnerbait, I've thrown the entire tacklebox 😆

Thanks a bunch Aaron!

It really baffles me how I can go the entire Fall catching a handful of 5lb+ fish, and then the winter rolls around and that's possible on a single day.    Winter comes when I'm just about to cry uncle from a losing streak 🤣

  • Super User

Nothing to see here. Just another casual 20lb+ winter bag from @AlabamaSpothunter

Awesome, man.

  • Super User

Alex, as you know, I love those 20 lb. bags. They take consistency and they're so. much. fun. Just like 2024, you are streaking! No, not like this:

Agree with the advantages/disadvantages. I never ‘long arm’ fish. In my case, being alone in a 16 ft boat, camera propped on a seat or against the side of the boat, I can only get about 5 ft away from the camera, so all ratios of me-to-camera and bass-to-camera get exaggerated, and sometimes even more so depending on exact angle.

I bought a clip that attaches to my windshield last year that holds my phone for a timed photo. Since I fish solo sometimes, and I wanted an action shot of some fish in addition to laying them on a bump board, this seems to have solved my problem. I got to be pretty good at it as the season progressed - with bass. When I caught a muskie though, that was a challenge. Not a great photo because of the sheer length.

Hopefully I can improve on it this upcoming season. Course, when someone comes with me, they can just take the photo for me. I tried to get my dog to do it but she doesn’t have thumbs. :mini-dog-6::dontknow:

First trip in TX this year because I’ve been busy. Turns out they are still biting a jig. These bass have no style, man. They just wake up, eat jig, go to bed. Caught a few small ones and missed a bunch unfortunately. Here’s the best one at just under 3lbs. Happy to be back on the water 😎

Attaboy @LrgmouthShad!     I wish I had confidence in jigs.

Visit Michigan in late april // early may.  Those 4 weeks will instill jig confidence in anyone!

Do tell. Where do you cast them and how do you work them?

@Swamp GirlOn any break with weed growth, throw to 15' deep and drag toward shore.  Stop by, I'll point the way.

You might think I'm joshing you, but I don't fish a single body of water that's 15' deep. 10' deep is the deepest.

I’m surprised by that. How long do your water bodies have ice on them for? Anything up here less then 15ft will almost certainly winterkill if there’s not flowing water.

They don't winterkill. At least not yet. We won't see open water until March. Here's my pond a couple days ago. The white beyond the weeds is the pond:

It's still so wild to me that all those big fat northern LMB are just cruising around living their best lives under many inches of ice.

If you caught a Bass in one of your bogs ice fishing, you'd really blow my mind.....double dog dare you too 😆

There's a couple sweet looking bogs near my lake that I've always assumed would suffer winterkill because of depth......I might need to rethink this.

Oh, I could catch one. There's an ice fishing tourney at my pond this weekend. It's just that standing over a hole in the ice is as much fun as this:

Today’s catch of the day is this Floridian shivering during a Texas cold front holding a 12 bass. 12 ounces. We caught small ones today. I picked up 3 more. Where are the bigger fish???
