@WolfyBrandon, those Pike are monsters! Didn't realize they lived out there. I always keep an extra t handle, some Paracord and thin tools on board  to route a new rip cord. Glad y'all didn't have to paddle all night! Haha

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Went out to Caney Lakes lower lake side this morning around 6am. The day started out kinda slow, I was throwing a Texas rigged drop shot with a 6" Aaron's Morning Dawn Roboworm tied on and a 1/4oz drop shot sinker. Got tons of bites, but nothing doing. Had to be bream or something pecking at my bait. Some of the hits were pretty hard too. Decided to go to the pier around 9:30am. Kept throwing the drop shot, because I was determined to catch something on it. Persistence and the virtue of patience paid off as I finally caught my first bass with a drop shot. It weighed in at 1lb 1oz. After several more bites and nothing doing with it, those darn bream...lol, I decided to start chunking my munky butt 110 Whopper Plopper. Made about 4 casts before this hawg sized bass annihilated it. When I got it on the pier, I just knew I had a new PB. Put it on the scale and was surprised to see it only weighed 3lbs 6oz. I weighed it several times just to be sure. It was pretty skinny. All head and no body...lol. Didn't get a measurement, but I guesstimate around 20" or so. If it had been eating good it surely woulda been a new PB. Probably woulda weighed at least 5lbs. Oh well, it was a great day out there all by myself. Plus I didn't break any rods this time either. I learned my lesson and when I got both bass close enough to the pier, I reached out, grabbed the line and pulled them up that way. All around great day. Now it's time for a shower and play some Yahtzee with my beautiful baby Linda! ?

I thought that too, actually. The way she didn't put up any fight after annihilating my 110 WP. It was like it took everything out of her just to slam my bait. She swam off ok when I let her go though, so I don't know really.

Now that's what I call a BUCKET mouth. Nice fish, grats!

@MichaelCopeland Nice fish. I would have guessed it bigger than 4.5 lbs. Could possibly be a big and very mature male. They sometimes get long and skinny.

Yeah when I saw it come up with that big bucket mouth and chomp my 110 WP I just knew I had a new PB. The next one I catch with a mouth that big is gonna have the belly to go with it...lol! ?

A bad day and good day for me.

The good was, I went out fishing all night with my budd, the night pretty slow only caught a few of small one. Until the sun start rising, got 4-5 bites on buzz bait, follow by another 4 fish the last hour with brass n glass.

The biggest of the brunch.

The bad, pretty bad.

I broke the tip of my favorite dropshot rod about 2 guides down (4"). I was in a hurry and closed garage door over the rod. This is Shimano Crucial dropshot casting rod CRC-D611M. I love this rod it is rate down to 1/8oz but got a very good backbone. I do have spare Shimano Compare worm/Jig rod with same 1/8oz rate but backbone is not comparable (too soft).

I can't do the night thing , mosquitos like me to much.  sorry about the rod , nice fish tho

Thanks brother! It was a pretty fun day. Just wish the belly on that last one woulda went with that mouth...lol! ?

So after a month of waiting for my river to clean up so I can see to wade it again, I got one day on it... It rained like a hurricane the night after and its up three feet and solid mud again. I might get to fish it in another month!

Either way, my buddy has been getting big into fly fishing and he wanted to catch a smallmouth on the fly. We hit the river Sunday at 7:30 am and he caught his first smallie on the fly rod after about 3 casts! He kinda struggled the rest of the day, trying to get the hang of fishing different lures in the current while wading, but I think he got a dozen or so.  We only fished maybe 3/4 mile stretch of river in 8 hours, but it is loaded with 8-12" smallies and has the occasional 2-3lber cruising around. I did what I always do, and went with a bag of senkos, some blue and chartreuse keitechs, and a bluegill plopper 90. Got one to hit the plopper but didn't hook it. I ended up with maybe 18 for the day (didn't really keep a close count after ten) Bunch of short strikes and/or missed hooksets especially on the Keitech for some reason. My biggest of the day came out of a hole that I fish all the time and know it's kind of a hot spot for these brownies to sit in when the current is up.

Can't compete with AJ but I SAW one that's gotta be close to half the weight of that last giant he posted!

Still had an awesome day. Haven't had the time lately to fish like I want to and the next few weekends will be much the same, but I'm looking forward to a big charter trip out to the Gulf Stream for a day!

Ordinarily, I wouldn't be posting a picture of a 3.25 lb bass, but this one earned it's 15 minutes of fame as the second hardest fighting bass I've ever caught. She turned my boat 90 degrees and nearly wedged me between two docks. She stayed deep and pulled so hard that I just knew that I was hooked up with a double digit bass. The pictures don't really do justice, but this girl was buff! She reminded me of one of those overgrown bluegill whose body looks too big for their heads. I'm pretty sure that she would have tested positive for PEDs! The only bass that has ever fought me harder weighed over 12 lbs.

we had a low of 57 last night and i could really feel it while cruising across the lake in the little johnny this morning. but i aint gonna complain about it one bit! blue bird skies and a pesky NE breeze, changing to SE, never seemed to bother the fish, just the fisherman. caught close to 25, mixed bag of spots and largemouth. life is good.

Still biting with the cooler weather we had come through the past few days. Back to near 90 again starting tomorrow after a big line of storms moves through. Half on top last night, half not...

I wish I had a spot like you to fish! Always getting numbers of spots and a largemouth kicker! Nicely done yet again

Dodged those  storms this morning and had great action between running to my car to stay alive (lots of lightning north of Indy). What was refreshing was a stiff breeze and 70 temps. Always gets hot around Labor Day. I remember Labor Days being chilly.

Hit the river this morning with a couple of buddies. We had a quick storm blow in on us and it rained for about 10 minutes. Long enough to turn the bite on for a few minutes.  The big smallie smashed a 90 whopper plopper in some swift water and gave a couple of jumps for a show. I think it went around 15-16 inches.

Got out for an hour and a half yesterday evening with the G-daughter, mainly to make sure my trolling motor was fixed right.

I decided to fish traditionally less productive areas as a challenge and they were all over the senkos again. We ended up with 12, including 3 that were 2 1/2 to 3 pounds.

Trolling motor worked good, had a successful rescue of Mackayla after she got stuck up in the big oak on our island , caught some fish, and enjoyed a pretty sunset on the way home. Life is good !!20180825_184849-966x1288.jpg20180825_185307-966x1288.jpg20180825_194651-966x1288.jpg20180825_200509-606x808.jpg20180825_202640-1288x966.jpg

Finally got one on my new Whopper Plopper 75 Loon color. It's a dink but it counts. I would have to buy a 75 in another color to see if its the color or the way this lure sits in the water is the reason it doesn't produce fish like my 90 Bluegill does.

Only one "caught" at a new to me lake. Banks were littered with lily pads and some type of grass. Nothing was hitting the frog, jig so decided to Texas rig and peg a GP Zoom Magnum Trick Worm (my new fave bait) and dropping it thru the pads and grass, had about 3 takers, but were small and not inhaling the whole worm :laughing7:... Anywho, this guy blasted thru the pads 3 times trying to eat it, once I finally dragged the magnum trick worm into an opening he scarfed it. Was pretty intense to say the least.
