Got done eating supper and went out back to cast a little. On about the 5th cast or so I got this 6.3 , 23 inch tank on a spinnerbait. She was full of eggs.20180410_191244-1440x1080.jpg

Shout out to @Fishing_FF for giving me that bait when he was up here in feb.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Went to dink city and caught three dinks in about as many hours. Not sure why I keep going back there. I think the one pictured was the least smallest.

Also met a fairly aggressive Canadian goose.

Because Legend has it there's a 38"er in there. It's what I heard!!

I was hung up and then suddenly my lure started coming back to me. (Thanks fish for saving my crankbait. I did end up losing 3 due to the landscape matting they put under the gravel/rocks that is starting to come up. I will probably have to stop fishing trebles in this lake. I have lost a total of 5 crankbaits this year due to the matting crap.)

Much better than the last couple trips. Half a dozen dinks, couple 16", and one right at 18".

Need to get a lure knocker! I dunno how many crankbaits were lost until my fishing buddy found this one: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-PTLR.html?from=basres

worth every penny

Ill throw a crankbait or lipless into anything now. Brush, trees, rocks, anything. And yes it has rescued a few from that mystery tarp cloth they use under rip-rap and around bridge pilings.

I spent an hour with a lure knocker trying to get one of them back out of the matting. I felt the lure knocker get hold of the hooks and thought I was gonna get it back but I’m pretty sure it just bent out the hooks that were on the lure knocker and not the matting. Then on the next one I managed to hit the rope of the lure knocker with my trolling motor and get it wrapped up and snap off the line with the bait on it.

Get one of these instead of a knocker,

If I can reach it, I can get it back 99.9% of the time. I've got them back from every place imaginable with mine.

Something like this did cross my mind after about a half hour of trying to free one bait that was in 4 feet of water. Although, I am not really confident it would help much with the matting. But, I do have access to all of th equipment and supplies to make one for next to nothing. Other than having one more thing in my 10-ft boat, what can it hurt (still not going to be throwing $9 crankbaits in places I know that matting exists).

I've lifted entire logs and cedar trees off the bottom with mine, they're surprisingly durable. Mine telescopes down to only 5', so they don't take up much room.

@Dirtyeggroll, what's the matting like?  Plastic, I'd assume...like landscape fabric?  At any rate, I'm sure someone thought it was a good idea....geezz....probably with visions of weed control....gotta wonder about planners/engineers who'd lace a lake with plastic...or any other type of matting

Its more like a cloth/fabric. A tough, hook loving, unforgiving and overspreading cloth-like material from hell.

Yep....probably landscape fabric to limit weeds; no telling how many bad, unintended consequences....I can imagine a few...its probably made with some plastic or other petroleum product in the weave; it will PREVENT WEEDS, which is not necessarily a good thing; I have to believe it interrupts natural cycle of decaying matter on the bottom, as well as crayfish habitats

Caught a few before the small storm passed through this week. All spotted bass, biggest being 2lb 2oz. The bite is getting better :D

It's a non toxic, PVC matting screening meant to prevent weed growth in swimming/docking areas.  It's also a hook magnet.  They're used extensively up here around docks.  Its a way better solution than spraying chemicals to kill weeds.

^ Would have been my next suggestion. The poles aren't always the best, and take up a fair amount of room, but they will pull up just about anything. Slide it down the line until it hits the lure and spin it around 4-5 times so the hooks are stuck in the screw part and just lift away.

Actually right down behind the Bush. I was to the right of the chairs when I made the cast lol.

Sweet.....yeah, those spinnerbaits are small and don’t look like much, but they outperform the Stanley’s, Revenge’s, and River-2-Sea’s spinners I have.

PB at 5.1lbs! I don’t know how she stayed hooked/snagged. Hardest I’ve ever fought a bass.
