Notice Of Planned Outage

Hey folks,

We're going to be updating the server software tomorrow (Thursday) morning, which requires us to pull the site offline.  This is a major OS update, so it's going to take all morning and into the afternoon to complete.  We expect the site to be available again late tomorrow afternoon.

Note that we're NOT changing the forum software in any way, so the updates will not affect what you see today.  The updates will improve response time and security, as well as provide us with a wealth of new features from which we can build upon at a later date.

Thanks in advance for your patience.

Glenn

Good stuff, but what will i do at work tomorrow????

Based on the couple responses already made to this I expect businesses all across the country will experience a spike in productivity tomorrow.

I'm feeling withdrawal  symptoms already.

Blasphemy! I don't want to work at work.

Are counselors available to help us through this difficult time?

Good Luck, we're all counting on you.

Looks like there's gonna be a little of this going on tomorrow . . . .

Well we ran into a few glitches and had to postpone the upgrade.  Will try again later.

OK - I was surprised to see BR up & running this morning.

So are you planning on later today or a later date ?

Glenn's account, which I would assume was the first, was created Nov. 6, 2004, so I would say the forums are right at 10yrs.

1996 for Bass Resource and 2004 for the forums???? Glenn???

1996 for the site.  Launched the forums in 1997; then changed forum platforms in 1999; then changed again to this platform in 2010.

With the first switch, I started with a clean slate (did not migrate any of the old forums).  However when I changed them in 2010, the volume of posts was so huge that the conversion of data to the new platform was estimated to take over a week.  So I had to drop several of the early years in order to whittle down the size.

I had several profiles in the previous version.  I kept this one, which was created in 2004.

I can't remember exactly when I first joined the forum, but I remember when a major upgrade was done and everyone had to recreate their profiles. It was kind of comical because there were a few folks who were upset because they had so many posts and had to start over at zero, like it was some kind of status. As it turned out though, the new layout was a big improvement with so many more features. You folks have to admit, this forum is tops among the bass fishing sites. I wish there had been an internet and this forum when I was younger, it might have inspired me to have pursued a different occupation. Hats off to Glenn, all the moderators, and members who make this site what it is today.

I agree. I am not sure about a different occupation, but it would sure have saved me a lot of time, effort,  and money. Thank you Glenn, and crew (past and present).
