Any Interest In A Swing Jig?

Featured Replies

I'm looking to see if there is enough interest for me to offer a swing jig.  If I do this I'd offer it with an Owner hook.  I'm thinking the All purpose plastic hook.

Weights would be

1/4  4/0

3/8  4/0

1/2  5/0

Maybe 3/4  5/0

So post up guys if this is something worth me perusing more!!

I'm planning on offering the skirted swing jig in all the jig colors I have and the non skirted in all the head colors I have.  Thats the plan as of right now.

I've seen some people recently saying that they wish they could find some in lighter weights. Maybe a 3/16 with 3/0 hook or even an 1/8 with 2/0.

Spent last weekend with Biffle swinging a Rage Structure Bug. Absolutely loved it. The way it came through cover and the action imparted were best thing I threw all weekend. I'm definitely getting more

I would definitely try a bunch of them.  I've never fished one.

Tight lines,

Bob

Personally I'd prefer just the head without hook so I can put split rings and my own hook on it. I'd buy a ton in the 1/4 to 3/4 range.

What would be super is if you found a way to add a skirt.

Interested in the smaller sizes also...How about the swing jig with removable/replaceable hook?

And would the line tie be horizontal or vertical? Just asking.

can you make one with a snap so hooks can be swapped out like on the mustad fastach swing head

This ^^^^^^^ figure out how to make one that you can easily attach a skirt to if desired.

Great idea, especially a couple smaller sizes like 1/8th and 3/16ths. They would be killer for rivers and spots with current.

I got off my phone, grabbed my computer, and logged in just to tell you yes.

Swing jigs would be great! Personally I would use 1/2 & 3/4oz footballs, 1/4 & 3/8oz with 3/0 if offered with your brush head but they would have to be super line hooks

7/16 and 9/16 have been my go to sizes. I rarely hang up a bait but they usually get discarded because of a bent or broken hook. Different hook options other than an EWG would be nice as well.

I'd be a buyer.  I love the skirt idea as well.

Brush heads would be okay. But football heads are more useful with swing heads as they don't tip over and deflect off cover. I haven't had a problem with snags when pitching to wood with football heads.

I prefer football heads and heavier weights, 1/2 oz & 3/4 oz.

I'm not a big swing jig user.  My buddy used to make his own, but they had a collar that held a skirt.  He's passed on, so I'm not sure where the he got the heads or how they were molded.  They had a pyramid, "wedge shape" head.

I'll be honest, there's a ton of good ones out there in heavy, football head configurations.  Maybe a lighter, light wire hook, as a shaky head change up is a good idea.  I'd try that.  Something in the 1/16 to 1/4 range.  No one would buy it though, lol.

Wouldn't this be where a jika rig would be a better option?

Not for dragging on the bottom.  A jika rig is for penetrating weeds.

Mike, I would be interested in some swing jigs in the lighter weights like those discussed in earlier posts--also like the idea of having replaceable hooks so you can change sizes to match your fishing conditions and lures

Mike-

Wouldn't a plastic hook break on the hookset? :D

Barlow's now carries a swinging jighead with a collar.  You add your own skirt and hook.

Lighter weights w/ easy hook change out sounds sweet, of course adding a skirt would be nice, but not necessary, but nice!

I have never heard of this setup, cool!

Looks like an ideal way to fish a fluke on the bottom. (Regardless of what they were intended for)

I'll have to experiment with these
