Big weather pattern change coming Thur. Can't speak for northern IN lakes but small neighborhood lakes in central IN have been picking up. Hopeful the big shift will really get things going. Too early for turnover.

Ended up going to Bluegrass, Loon pit instead.  It was a little bittersweet.  I hooked a toad and he jumped and threw my frog.  I can still see it perfectly a few feet above the water.  Anyone else fish bluegrass?

Live about 20 minutes away. Never have fished it. Really want to though.

I fish it out of a kayak.  It isn't the easiest but it's all I have for now.  It would be hard to bank fish.  If you have a boat you should be able to catch a few at least.  My best out of there so far is 4 lbs but I haven't fished it too much.

What are you referencing?

Bluegrass, more specifically loon pit.  Not sure what you are asking about referencing.  Just saying it would be hard to fish it from the bank because it's only clear for a small section.

Anybody have an idea on water temps? Or a website to check water temps near me? I tried to fins temps for patoka but they were from early october before the cold snap. Headed out Sunday to either bluegrass or an awesome private pit

65 degrees on the central IN reservoirs right now. Guessing you guys should be a couple degrees warmer.

Oir biggest one of the morning. Hitting all moving baits. Cant get one to eat a jig! Cold 4 wheeler ride in 30 degree weather. But water temps are around 60 degrees

It was 29 degrees at the start of our tournament this morning. It also seemed to take along time to warm up.

We were very cold riding the wheelers to our first pit. This fish was the first of the day. They were still hitting the whopper plopper fairly well before the sun fully came out.

I heard that west side bait and tackle is closing. It’s must be hard running a bait and tackle shop. I’ll be sad to see them go.

They are having a going out of business sale this Saturday.  Sucks.

Geist was 50 down by the dam and 48-49 in the creek yesterday.  Shafer was 47-49 over the weekend.

Went to Palestine lake the other day , graphed literal clouds of fish in the deep holes , couldnt get them to bite anything . A Rigs - Jerkbaits , Swimbaits , Dropshots , Ned Rigs , Crappie tubes . Water temp was 46-49 and stained. Finally got a few on traps in the shallow weeds . Rough day . Anybody still whacking them on the fall bite.

I've been doing good in the smaller lakes I fish. High temps in the 30's will keep me off the water for a few days though. I'm betting on a warm up before Thanksgiving.

Follow up to last post.  We made it into the 40's today which is normal for mid Dec. but was really pretty pleasant after two cold mornings.  I got out this afternoon for a couple of hours and action was real steady.  No bigs but lots of fun size on a 3" sticko ned rigged on a 1/32 oz. Owner blockhead. I've settled on these as the best MWF heads out there. Anyone else getting out? I'm trying to keep this thread alive. We must have lost @frostywho was always posting.

We had three of us that went out today. The fishing wasn’t great but certainly better than sitting at home.

I was out on Sunday.  Only catch was on the ned in a about 15 feet of water as I was trolling back to the ramp.

I've gotten out a few times in the past week and caught em on a swim jig reeled really slowly on a rocky bottom.  Ned has worked as well. I agree with @The Bassman on those owner blockheads.  Sharp, strong hooks!

Fishing a fun tournament Sunday morning up on Geist. Looks like it’s going to be a chilly start.

Low Sat. night 31; high Sun 38; 40% chance snow and rain mix. Better you than me. Let us know how it goes.

Last Sunday, we caught em in the area just East of the Olio Road bridge and in the back of coves with a creek running in.  Bait was looking smaller than usual for this time of year.  Neds, pointer 78s, and 3 to 4 inch keitechs worked for us.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info!

@Alan Reed

How was it Sunday?

The fishing was pretty tough for everyone.   No one found anything huge. It wasn’t nearly as cold as what they predicted so that was certainly welcoming in the morning. Certainly way better than being stuck inside.
