Don't forget the "Peckerhead" and the various underwater pipes/cables, Selfridge for example.  Ballast piles, wrecks and river mouths like the Salt and the North, South and Middle channels.  Actually there's a lot to fish on LSC even though the lake itself is rather featureless.  For us its always been the right grasslines in the right depth depending on water temp.

That’s pretty much it. I had a few spots from shore that would only produce certain times of the year, even though the structure was very similar. Pretty much how I learned that grass type, current, weather, etc. mattered.

Took me a lot of driving from spot “A” to spot “B”, “C”, all in one or two days to really click.

Shhhhh....Don't tell him.  He's coming down to Virginia to fish with us the week after Christmas.  And you should also know that any spot on that lake is Mini's chit!!

Kinda sort of.  What I’d want is a dedicated Michigan page that we could add subsections to.

I think Glenn and the Mods would balk at that - because then every other state would want their own page and we have people here from overseas - I know I've seen someone from the UK post here - so pages for individual countries too.

This thread has been running for nearly 13 years. For a long time there was also one dedicated to a local 400 acre lake.

Oh I know there's individual THREADS - he's talking individual TOPICS - so Michigan would have it's own topic instead of being included in the Northeast topic. That would expand the 'Fishing Locations' sub from 5 topics to 60+. I don't think Glenn and the Mods would want that major expansion.

It’s a catch 22. I’m soaking everything up as far as reading, watching YouTube, and watching TV shows. But it makes it hard to, because I want on the water.

Last week i organized the tackle. Tomorrow I believe it’s going to be cleaning reels and re-spooling day for me.

I watch my own videos -

and I think that's kind of worse . . . .

I did just purchase my 2019 Res All Species Lic online tonight.

So that's a step in the right direction.

Reels are cleaned - still plenty of trebles to change & a few tackle trays to organize.

Also as soon as we get out of the deep freeze - I'll need to prep the boat trailer.

Unfortunately, there's no rush on that.

A-jay

We are already doing the food menu for our trip to St Clair (Harsens Island) in May.  We are also setting aside a day to go Walleye hunting for a fish fry.  We caught a LOT of Walleye last year in our pursuit of the brownfish.  We need to target them and get some of the bigger ones for the fry.  We feast pretty well every year.  I always smoke about 6 racks of ribs, we always get 20lbs of King Crab legs, we have had Russian Boar, Prime Rib, a lot of Venison, some great Italian dishes and usually a fish fry due to one of our group having a good friend who lives on the island and is strictly a Walleye fisherman.  We want to catch our own this year.

My years of walleye fishing as a kid I learned if you’re targeting them you’ll catch something else. I’m not sure if that’s the norm or my step dad just isn’t a good walleye angler. I’ll give him credit at almost 70 he still chases after them at Saginaw Bay and Canada. For the 2 plus hour drive one way I’d want to catch more than he does though.

Good luck on your future trip.

True dat!!  One year we dedicated a day (and a lot of fuel) to run from the island all the way up the St Clair river and vertical jig for them.  Caught 2.  Lost $50 worth of jigs.

That's why we get a charter captain on the Detroit River,  Supposed to be a banner year this year. Let them find em, you catch em and they clean em. Saves me a lot of time and aggravation.

@Abby @MIbassyaker I’m in Cedar Springs today and was yesterday. I checked out the area behind TSC and it’s been leveled out, there’s catch basins sitting by the road in preparation for storm sewer, and there are a couple job trailers there and that’s it. So something is going in just not a confirmation. There’s no equipment so I’m guessing no more work until the frost leaves the ground.

Thats all I've got.

I am hearing the hotel is going in there. Across the street is a save a lot store that is moving. So D and R is reportedly taking over that store front when they move out..

Ok that makes sense because the area cleared for the hotel is really small. The save a lot is a decent sized building and parking lot.
